- During the winter months the shed doors are firmly closed and all is quiet. However, when you take a look inside you'll find Dutch seed potato farmers are picking the fruit of their labour. We get to see the full seed potato journey on a specialised seed potato farm in the Dutch growing region 'Wieringermeer'.
After planting, crop husbandry, harvesting and storage the show begins. The tubers have to be graded in different sizes, soil, haulm and clods removed. They are inspected by hand and further processed for customers all around the globe. Dutch seed potato exporters are world famous for their potato varieties.
We see how potatoes are automatically bagged up in hessian bags for Brazil, in jumbo bags for Europe and wooden boxes for Holland. This farm uses some of the most modern equipment to do so. VHM (Van Hees Machinery) BoxFilr box handling machinery, ERC weighing and bagging machine and a Symac palletising machine.
This is a must-see for anyone interested in agriculture and the humble potato. A lot goes on behind closed doors to get them on your plate!

I mean it’s good and all but the other setting for filling big bags is time consuming I got a idea if your interested
Cool video but I'm still not sure what makes a seed potato a seed potato. Is it the storage time?
A seed potato is planted again the next year(s) to grow more tubers. So it is not processed to make french fries or crisps for example.
WHAT KIND OF POTATOES DO YOU PLANT?
if i plant my potatoes that i harvest from my garden will not be the same there is more processes things they didn't show
yes it's true. by the way, potatoes love changing fields. And of course there is a secret, why these seeds are more expensive than others
i'd love to know the real way how they produce commercial seed

@@Agrifotodotnl how can you help us
@@ponidhierwan6748 I would suggest visiting their websites and get in touch. I have no connection with these companies.
@@Agrifotodotnl thanks you for the advice
I need these seeds in pakistan
No
25 kilos in a bag, WTF, people getting weaker or governments gong crazy ?
That plant is suppose to be GREEN when harvested, not DEAD & BROWN (Sprayed with Roundup prior) in other words Contaminated with Glyphosate.
With Roundup? think before you speak mate.
if u spray it with roundup the whole plants dies idiot, you won't have any potatoes. also, if u don't spray them, the potatos which have grown out of the 1 potato planted, will grow aswell..
dont tell a FARMER what to do on a FARM if u are not a farmer!!!
you mean they don't wash the potatoes they harvested before sending them to market?? i guess not. uggghhhh
No they are not washed as this will reduce the possibility to store them. These don't go to the market but are used as seed potatoes for next years crop.
@@Agrifotodotnl thank you. that makes sense.
