I have all my 65 channels organized by usefulness or newness to me in folders marked Primary, Secondary and Newbies. I recently opted out of notifications for all the secondaries, leaving about 20 channels I try to keep up with all the time. Scott’s is one of those Primaries! Newbies get tested and after 4-6 videos if I don’t learn anything or production values are so bad I have a difficult time grasping what they’re trying to share I will usually delete or file at the bottom of the secondaries. I also have a folder of Specialists - people who do a lot of one thing really well. Scott is in my Chainsaw folder under Husqvarna. If I ever have a question about these saws he’s done hundreds more than anyone else know of, plus his diag skills are honed really well so he wastes very little time getting right to the issue. Plus his production qualities are in the top tier so I can always hear and usually see what he’s doing.
@@Rein_Ciarfella i appreciate the kind words. I'm really excited to hear my "production" efforts are working. The next improvement will be a 4k camera.
Because of you, I was able to diagnose and repair my neighbors chainsaw and one for myself. I'm a big fan of keeping things going. I watch, or watched, many small engine repair channels, most of them just don't seem to explain things very well or are too flashy. You on the other hand explain things really well.@@TheGreasyShopRag
As an obnoxious customer i am offended that your diagnosis differed from mine and saved me money. Next time i am taking my equipment to a professional. Just messing around there, your videos are excellent sir!
As for myself I watch this channel for numerous reasons but primarily because it's the best training video for new comers in the business such as myself. I've learned a ton thank you for sharing your time and knowledge. Take care brother.
Ahh, finally, my favorite!! Ported that is.. i picked up an OE w a NE oem top end, ran a bit, mehh it was decent. Sent WAY out to BC for a trip across Donnys bench. WOW! Instany my new favorite saw!! Still not the strongest 50cc i have, but just feels right in the hands w a 20"rig..
@@TheGreasyShopRag exactly! Would lime to try my own hand at it, just adjust ceilings/ timing for base gasket deletes and widen slightly, but afraid of slipping, flaking coating. Youve clearly worked on a LOT of these, 346oe/ne or 550mk2 if you had to choose?
Yeah I just put a new piston in my 026 it had the piston slap noise pretty bad. Still had 160 compression but needed a piston! It's good to go now! Thanks for sharing!
Great video. I don’t think the banging the saw down hurts any thing. Just a great way to start a video in my mind. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋 I have four saws. All leak bar oil. 🤦🏻♂️. Any way, I like watching any of your videos, but came across one about gluing the hose for the pump into the oil tank. So I tryed that. Seemed to help. But it’s still leaks some times. I have not tried it on the other saws yet. Any way. Thanks for the tip.
I differentiate between leak, seep and drip. Understanding the differences can help diag the problem. Cleaning the saw really well inside and outside and setting it on a clean paper surface overnight are the first steps to isolate the source. Then it’s a case of inspecting very closely to follow the trail to the source. I’ve identified bad engineering on a brand new polesaw using these steps. I believe I created a text file listing all the sources I’ve found or learned about and there are many!
Great video. Hopefully it’s only new viewers. If I haven’t already mention it, I’m glad you add your inspection of the bad parts. Like the plug it shows the history. Keep up the good work.
Another great video ,I like the way you uncurled the pig tail you didn’t assume it was a real carb issue, like say what I do sometimes and mix up the lines of the bulb… 😂
I watch because I'm interested in this kinda stuff and your videos are well done. Growing up I always had mini bikes and two stroke dirt bikes so small engines have always been an interest of mine.
I like your video neighbor sometimes I also forget and sometimes it bites me then I bite myself... SCREW THE HATERS (but glad you're explaining this yet again) but keep telling them saws who's boss LATER
I was just lookin i use the 18 inch bar 440 husqvarna and poulan pr5020 for backup if i need it i got it. And i replaced my other poulans sprocket because it was worn down and traded my stihl i did have for the poulan i keep for another backup if i need that one it wouldn't stay idling when i first got the poulan but does now its high and low just needed reset right but i traded the stihl for the poulan because the poulan chain slings plenty of oil while cutting may cut slower but its chain last longer than the stihls does and the poulan is easier to start up than stihl
Yes watch you lean how to fix these things and find you very good with you examion of machine and no I do not have shop I yust lean for you so I do not have take it to a shop to be repaired cheers Garry from Australia
Mine wont idle longer than 10 seconds. New lines, crank seals, filters, intake boot and clamp and imulse line. 160 of compression , no scoring on the piston and cylinder. Block leaks no bubles at 6 psi and soapy water. Good power and good startup. Any sugestions?
Oh, and fresh fuel, new pump bulb an did a membrane swap and carb cleaning, still nothing. Carb adjustments and a borrowed replacement carb did not much. What am I missing?
When cold, it starts easy. When warm / hot Sometimes yes, sometimes i pump fuel and it starts first pull. Sometimes is wants to fire, allmost fires, but i need 2 or 3 pulls. When i set the fast idle or hold the throttle fires one pull when warmer after dying. When i shut it off before it dies on its own it seems to fire easier. I wold say fuel issues but every single line filter/vent /bulb has been. Changed I will put on a new carb since my old one after cleaning dont take any adjustment and runs rich as hell.
New carb, came in a Husqvarna box, seems legit. Little different markings but fittment is identical and P/N checks out. Straight out of the box fires fine, but after lowering the idle so the chain stops same issue. Reducing L Jet 1/8 turn almost works, more thank that it gets worse in both directions. Pumping constantly keeps it runing. Im loosing my mind. Is there a leakdown procedurę for the cylinder? Compression might not be telling the whole story.
Chainsaws get worse treatment by their owners than what you do at the beginning of the videos. I'm here to learn. I typically only repair my own stuff. Occasionally I will repair a small engine if the owner can't find a service center, or simply doesn't have the money because I don't charge labor.

I've watched this girl before. If I remember right she put the piston in backwards with the arrow pointing towards the intake. I'm also not sure she is really repairing anything, it looks like she's just taking it apart and putting it together again. She's good at that but again, I have never seen any real repair or parts replacement.
I watched some of it and yes she made some mistakes. The part I don't get is that when she tightened the first mufler bolt it was righty/tighty. The second bolt was lefty/tighty. Did I see that wrong? Why would she fake that?@@thomasfrost6993

Nice repair but I was distracted by that beautiful white, almost virgin, shop rag….we haven’t seen one that clean in a long time. lol
Ya I musta got in a fresh batch of rags. Don't worry, they don't stay that way long 🙂
Scott, did the excess drag from the loose clutch cause it to stall at idle?
Thats possible but I don't think so in this case. The springs were holding it together and that worm gear was very tight.
