Great video. Thanks a lot for an in depth explanation on how you shoot and also what to expect. Very thorough video and you are calm and relaxed! Thanks!
These were excellent tips. Thanks for sharing! Would be cool if you made a video on the best and worst moments you’ve had while shooting nightclub videos.

@@MichaelYoungKim My only suggestion would be to either speak faster or speed up the video, because most of the people today have short attention spans, I had to watch it on 1.5x speed myself
Great video thanks so much was very helpful! I have 2 questions: Which metering mode do you use? Which auto focus mode do you use? Thanks for your reply.
I have Sony a7siii - I want to shoot S-LOG3 for the club scene. I’m scared about the grain. Is it safe to sit on 12800 the whole time? Every time go below that, it introduces grain
12800 iso is the second base iso for a7siii and fx3. You either shoot 800 or 12800, nothing in between. Anything else will introduce to very noticeable grains and I wouldn't recommend it.
hi! thanks for the info you have shared. But theres still one more thing I concern about is protecting the camera sensor from lazer, what should we do?
If the venue officially setup the lazers then it shouldnt hit any of the crowd. But if the location seems iffy, then you should check the position of all the lazers before you start shooting. Unfortunately, there is no protective that will save our cameras from the lazers…☹️
Hey, I was wondering. Don’t you ever use a light panel or something on top of the camera to light everything a bit more and get better looking subjects or something?
11:08 thank you so much for reminding me. I’m shooting a video in a club tonight and every single time I go to a concert or a rave or a whatever (with or without camera), I forget my damn earplugs and end up ruining my ears lmao
Can someone answer this for me.....I shoot with a light...i have a smallrig light....how do i combat dealing with people not liking that light in their face...curently i flip the light down and turn it down significantly...i still have light but i know it would be better if i had it up....but i worry about the integrity of the peoples reactions
@@fernandobonenfantphotography u dont necessarily have to overexpose by two stops . You just have to balance your iso right in order to get the least amount of noise. I would rather keep the iso lower or at 12800 than have to shoot two stops over and use iso 25000+
Fantastic tips, thank you for sharing! I was wondering what metering mode you use when shooting in clubs. Just standard multimeter or some other mode? Also, do you ever use some form of autoexposure or set IRIS and ISO all manually?
The metering will not be accurate because the lighting inside of the club. question im shooting with an m50 and a 15-55mm 2.8 .....its noisy as hell and neat doesnt seem to help.. do you ever take a light with you in the club?
No i dont take lights for my videos. Gear plays a lot on low light situation. What you can try is to overexpose by half stop and crush the shadows to kill the noise.

There is no way. U just have to know where the lasers are shooting or sometimes ask the manager about the lasers. Usually when probably done, lasers shouldn’t hit any people in the crowd.
Make sure to talk to laser tech if they have one… if not, make sure to check all the lasers where they are going before shooting. I personally wouldnt shoot without knowing exactly about the laser situation though.
Thanks for info..... I wonder if all club lights are potentially dangerous for your sensor....i would assume not all rotating dmx lights would have laser beams.... But that would be another topic.... I usually use 16-35 and 50mm.
when budget is an issue and Sony FX3 or A7Sx are out of range for an amateur, I recommend fixed focus lenses with f
What video do you show the basic iso levels for different situations?
What equipment should I used for audio.. I need exact names. Because mines just sound airy from all the noise doing recording
What picture profile do you shoot on for the a7iv in low light and roughly what iso?
I shoot in slog3 and on the second base iso. 3200. If i HAVE to push it, i go up to 6400.
