I helped my buddy reupholster his camper, and what we did with his fold out bed was we bought 1 inch strips of plastic folded the fabric over them and used self tapping screws to screw them into the metal frame.
I did my upholstery the same way but I went to harbor freight and got the fabric drop cloths....much cheaper and you can dye them if you want! Love your remodel, looks great
Use white “plastidip” then clear it. It is liquid vinyl so it stretches and the clear helps protect it
Yep that’s what I was going to recommend
Yup same here
Great idea or he could buy white T molding to replace the "oak" T molding
Plastidip all the way 👍
Vinyl could just be cut and put on like a sticker
you explain things really fast in ways i wouldn't expect. i like that.
I actually like the touch of the wood edges, breaks it up some and goes with the other wood aspects, (cutting boards and such) that are in there for decor
I remodeled our popup camping trailer this summer. It turned out really well, congrats on the success!
I bet using contact paper over the rubber edges would work perfectly. They are designed for countertops and are cheap, flexible, and able to cover the rubber.
Great idea! That’s what I was thinking too.
I do renos a lot, my solution to the molding is stick on shelf paper. Comes in all colors and is flexible
Just used the white grain filler as well for our oak kitchen cabinets. They have turned out awesome. I love this product and makes a huge difference.
Did you have oak as well? I’m staring at my cherry cabinets and wondering if I need to do that for them, too. 🤔
I actually like the “wood” edging around the counters. It looks good with the wood cutting boards on display!
When I saw this video I thought his wife probably said "no more projects in the house! Find something else to renovate for your channel" 😆
Pretty sure she helped plan most (if not all) of those projects...
Haha.. good one 😂
hahahaha....
😂👍

Hog rings is what they would normally use to secure the fabric instead of cable ties. The hog ring pliers and hog rings are pretty cheap. Might be a tool to add to your stash if you plan on doing a bunch more upholstery work. If its a one time deal the cable ties basically do the same thing as the rings though. Nice work!
For the trim, honestly black tape. Like for automotive use, cover chrome trim on cars with it. It would be flexible, it's made for outside of a car I'm sure it would hold up for that. I say black because I think it would offset the counter top and cabinet sides well.
If you're painting something white in the sun it's a good idea to wear sunglasses. Just like you would for sand or snow.
I like it ,pink chandier over the dinette.
So you took a camper with some color variation and a homely feel, and turned it into a white hellscape. Nice. That'll be fun to keep clean while out camping.
I don't get why modern style is to turn everything white. Probably would've been nice just removing some decals and old decorations
Hey there a tip I use for my commissions is for the handles is if they’re metal, lightly sand them and then after every cost of paint (primer, paint, clear coat) bake them in like a old oven even like a small toaster oven. Bake them @200 deg F for around 30- hour. The baking creates a stronger bond and creates a durability similar to powder coating. :) I hope this helps
You put metal in a microwave?
@@elizabethpenton2306 Sorry I meant toaster oven like this one in the link I attached not a microwave lol, I will update my comment. Good catch!

@@mikeduke2804 okay! Just making sure you're okay 😂
For the edging try a rubber spray. It’s flexible and you get Matt black 😊 I’m sure that will work. Your RV looks so good. Well done.
We were just told my son has been given a camper for graduation. It's almost as old as I am. I've been looking for inspiration so I can tackle this thing with confidence. I happened upon this video and it gave me hope.
By the way what you did to the cushions is upholstery, no sewing is required. Tattoos definitely belong in craft stores.
Mr Build it.... I'm convinced you must have a secret identical twin that no one knows about. How in the world can you tackle home renos, home projects, complete an rv reno & spend time with the family?!! I mean, y'all did also have a baby so there's time for "bada bing bada boom" too 🤣. Seriously, you're a one-man army 💪🏻. Courage and sweat is most definitely your motto
Is anyone else completely sick of white cabinets?
It’s a nice blank slate though. You can change up the look by adding color on less “fixed” features like pillows, window tx, wall art, temp wall paper, counter top contact paper, trim, etc.
No
Well not exactly sick of it.. but i would love some variation... Of colours or design on them.. since just plain white is kind of underwhelming
Once you go black you'll never go back
Yes. And they are totally ineffectual for people who actually cook. Every single splatter, fingerprint, and stain will show.
Did you really just stitch your sleep-bench back together with zip-ties? Absolute legend. Great content as always. Much love from Switzerland 🤘🏻
Amazing job.
The flexible wood grain counter edger is called T molding and you can get 100' for $40ish on Amazon. It also comes in less amounts for around $1 a foot. Black or white would make it pop!
I love that you're watching Good for you!!!
Love it! SO smart to do the hole filler on your cabinets. Makes me want to go back and sand mine down and do it again!
I've been a builder for many years and have seen quite a fair bit of sheds. The plans in ryan's package ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxB7IXYxLzb_Ichhe45zM3Im5xfEiSp9vB have some of the nicest looking sheds i've seen in a while.
Am I he only one that thinks a drill style HOT GLUE GUN is just AWESOME!!!!!! The renovation is freaking awesome. I plan on buying an RV and doing the same. Looks like I can definitely do it myself.
We have that exact light sconce and we decided to paint it black as well. Thanks for doing it first so I can see what it will look like. Turning it upside down had not occurred to me. Thanks for that great idea! 👍🏼
You did a pretty good job. Suggestion for the floor. Cut the carpet around everything, then put 1/4" Lunan plywood down, fill in all the joints with wood filler, after getting a smooth surface install the peel and stick flooring of your choice.
For flexible trim pieces - vinyl car wrap. Not all wrap is the same. Some will crinkle when it goes into the groove. Avery or 3M works well.
That trim is called T molding. It’s like a dollar a foot. Also cheap hack for the upholstery, use drop cloths! so much cheaper than a fabric store. Plus it’s super duty.
First off after being 20 years old and that looks pretty damn good and even afterwards It look good but to me I would have just left it as it is but I'm amazed it was 20 years old and looking like that that's amazing and mind blowing 🤔🤯
Use Vinyl Dye on the trim...it’s basically the same as purple pipe primer but in a multitude of colors.
Watched the whole video…… love it… he’s a great guy, very creative…love the couch, the white makes it look larger and cleaners…
Why didn’t you paint or replace the gold hinges?
Same thought! Everything else looks so nice!!
He said it would cost over 100 bucks to replace them all so he just decided to paint them
Cracks me up using the compressed air to blow off the dust which lands on the stack of doors just dusted off.
He painted the handles but not the hinges?
I painted my door pulls and hinges when I did my camper.
Looks great! I think the wood grained flexible molding looks great against the white cabinets.
You can actually buy the molding in a black color without that. Its like a standard T-molding. The other option would be to make a butcher block top for them and expoxy. Would look sweet! Also, I'm the reason we can't have nice things! White for the couch would look dirty in short order especially since any camper for me would include dogs inside dirt bikes, which are well..... dirty! Also, a darker vinyl plank or just strait stick down vinyl to cover up the 90s linoleum is likely a good thing! Just me, but ditch the carpet for that stuff as well! Hard to clean and holds dirt.
Somebody might if already said it. But I'm not going through all these comments to look. Take the cushion covers apart and use the pieces as a pattern. If the zipper is good, reuse it. Sewing cushion covers is not rocket science. Don't let it intimidate you. I would not think you were a lesser man for going into a fabric store and sewing the covers yourself. All the men in my family knew how to use a sewing machine and were not afraid to show it. They just didn't sit around making frilly dresses and stuff like that. Whatever they were sewing, it was something like a rip in their jeans or a tear in their favorite jacket or something for their tool or tackle boxes and camping stuff. Beautiful makeover. I took notes on the products you used. Thanks for sharing all this information. 😀👍🏻
Killed it!!!
*makes everything white*
"Holy shit man what a revolutionary design approach you absolutely killed it".
Spare me 🙄
@lightning lightning lightning lmao get real kid
Awesome it looks like a 90's trailer painted white
the rubber wood looking molding is T molding. they use it on arcades. Find it in whatever color and finish you want
My favorite part was your DIY cushion covers. Great work!
Great job! I loved how the futon turned out. The upholstery job is stellar. The striated, tone-on-tone fabric went with the 80’s wallpaper. I agree with the comments on the Plasti-dip. Ordering new trim may not be an option for you. But check out your local stone yard to see if you can get your hands on some remnant material. Make a countertop template and see if you can spend $200 or so for some granite or quartz. But overall sweet Reno!
I watched a video last night of "professional" painters paint oak cabinets. They did not attempt to fill in the grain at all. They taped off everything in the kitchen and rolled the paint on the cabinet bases. I'm glad you filled in the grain. I have used Aqua Coat and it did a fantastic job. Hot glue was not a good choice. RV's when not in use RV's get very hot inside. That's an easy fix after the glue re-melts.
One tip
When stretching cloth start from the middle out, so you don't get any wrinkles
:)
That fabric looks pretty thin, so chances are he's going to get to redo it sooner than later.
Wow amazing! Me and my husband are currently remodeling a 1993 5th wheel it is alot of work but this video gives me hope!
Zip ties. Classic! Great job man, looks awesome!
Thank you for this video! I’m getting a trailer soon and this is very helpful!
There are loads of places you missed when you were spraying the wood in the camper, under the top cabinets and a big wood frame when you were talking about the wood filler in the camper. Some of them even have spray over on them as if you were going to paint them but forgot!
How does he not get hundred thousands likes on these video they are entertaining
Please make videos every single day. Thanks. Lol no for real no one does it like you. Content or building. You the man!
you can buy the white plastic t molding and just replace it. That is what I did in my camper after I painted the cabinets. Just measure the size and groove and can order the t molding by the foot and it looks super nice!!
For the flexible wood trim you could use either a white or black t molding like they use on arcade cabinets instead of edge banding
do a search online for the rubber trim around the counter tops. I know that most restaurant tables have that same trim and I have replaced them before for a customer. you just tap the molding on and then trim flush with the countertop.
For that rubberized trim I would look into like a vinyl dye. I use them all the time for soft materials in car interiors with great success.
I think the oak trim looks really good with the white
You can use Ritz (fabric Dye) Get a very large stainless steel pot and a bottle of Ritz. There are specific directions on the bottle referencing heating temperatures etc. I used to use it for my business dyeing nylon and Delrin pieces before I found black sheets of those materials. Once you dye it, the parts stay whatever color since it actually permeates the pores of the material vs paint (or plasti dip) which is a surface finish. Alternatively, that material they use is very similar to the handrails for motorized escalators so I'm sure you could do a quick internet search for the width and color you need if you'd rather replace than restomod it. Good Luck, love the channel.
Wow, great transformation!!
I like your modo! Courage and Sweat, thanks for explaining it too! Makes sense now!
Also, i think ill start to attempt more stuff with the idea that its ok to fail!!
You can mix epoxy and sand to create a flexible trim piece using a silicone mold. Take the "wood" trim piece to create a silicone mold with it. Then recreate the trim with sand and epoxy and unmold before the epoxy has fully hardened to get the right shape. I've seen videos on it, there's more to it than that but that's how I'm going to put trim around a half rounded window I have when I redo the trim and base boards in my house.
Honestly, the cabinets were fine, the upholstery, and the floors needed to be replaced, and a little upgrade in the kitchen. Maybe an update in the bathroom, too!
vinyl dye like VHT brand is perfect for that plastic edging, its a dye more than a paint so it etchs in, auto parts stores have it, also many colours
Love the tape on your fingers. That's real world fixing.
Wow. Your video was amazing! I am remodeling a fifth wheel that I just purchased and am so inspired after watching this. Thanks so much.
For the rubber part that wraps the cabinets you could wrap it with vinyl
Very cool. You can replace that t-molding edging for pretty cheap. I believe you can get the same size in black or white
You did a great job! We are wanting to update ours in a pickled or distressed white. I got to figure out how to get that to work. Lol.
9:40 There is a flexible primer (used for plastic bumpers) for the cars u can use it and paint over it .
You combined my two favorite things...you + camper remodel.
I love your videos.
P.S. aqua coat is the best. It works so well.
What happened to your finger? Just noticed at the end of the video. Love your work, camper came out great. Love what you do. Thank you for sharing.
I often tape my fingers in electrical tape when I'm doing something I know over time will give me blisters. It completely prevents the blisters and doesn't really impede dexterity. His left hand definitely looks like that's what he did, not sure about the other hand though.
For that rubber trim on that little peninsula-heavy duty contact paper would have worked nicely. If it rips or tears you can replace it.
its camping so pickin and choosin not hard. Im going to try & do my oak kit cabs too & so glad I learned about wood filler
Polycarbonate paint is used in plastic lexan R/C cars in the hobby industry. Super flexible paint that doesn’t chip
My parents used to have that exact trailer and I lived in it for 3 months while moving to a new city. Memories...
Zip tie upholstery! LOVE IT! LOL Dude, is there anything you can't do? You made this camper look 100% better and bigger! Now, paint/design the outside. 😁
I have the same trailer and just got some good new ideas. Thanks
I painted a bunch of RvV cabinets just like those and dusted of using that stuff you're using I used automotive primer sprayed it on and then sanded it down works great
Fresh , clean looking and beautiful
For the rubberized trim, that you can't paint. I would suggest that you try peel and stick wallpaper. It comes in a lot of different colors and patterns and it's durable.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great job. A friend of mine did the same to his RV but he saved money and time by getting the stick-on tile on his floor and it looks awesome. Stay Safe & Healthy...... Abrazos
For the flex wrap pieces use a vinyl wrap it would work great
Keep your covers for the foam,,, the covers can be chalk painted! And your back to your spare cover! Also the base of the sofa can be chalk painted as well as the surrounds for the windows if you wanted them back up for blocking light!
What I like best about your channel.... seeing that you make some of your decisions on the fly and aren't afraid to experiment. Good job man, keep up the great work.
Beautiful & airy looking!
You can use fabric glue also if you want.
Lol… it’s giving cooking show vibes 😂 (awesome vid btw super helpful).
Well done on the production of the video, explanation, and finished refurbish.
Hello. We just bought a 2011 keystone residence. Absolutely beautiful. However…. All that brown. Love the white you did on this. I didn’t catch what kind of paint you used. Thank you so much. Just sent your video to my husband.
they sell a wrap you can use for counter tops and such, maybe you can wrap that trim in like a white or something to get the flexible wood looking piece to look better and match everything
Thanks!! Going to give my 2002 Nomad to a gal that has had a very rough time of it.... in fostercare, adopted, abandoned by adoptive parents, foster care again, Juvi....and now in prison.... however she got her High School Diploma in Juvi, she finished her Associates last year,....and is now working on her BS. She's gonna be out next December I want to give her my trailer so she has a place of her own. I need all the imput I can get. She even offered to help pay for renovations.......
Don’t know if anyone’s said it yet but the rubber wood trim is called t-mold and you can buy it in whatever color/texture your want.
You could use flex seal spray for the flexible “wood” pieces!
Ihr seid ja immer wieder für eine Überraschung gut.
Vinyl contact paper that is used on countertops for the trim. Although it doesn’t look bad as is.
I saw this and I'm so inspired. I would suggest maybe a permanent vinyl for that edge. ❤️
i think you can find new colors of that rubber moulding from like fastcap. might be more costly but simple to replace. vinyl wrap if not ? maybe?
looks good dude!
Awesome job... really freshens up the place ...I did dislike the brass handles half as much as the window coverings...and yes that fabric was a little outdated😉😉🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕
Looks so bright and nice! Great job!
I know this video is like 8 months old….So the rubber trim on the counters, I am pretty sure is called T molding, and used commonly with laminate counters. I bought some from Lowe’s when I painted my RV counters. There is like a center groove in the edge of the counters. Hope it helps.
Great job
Try flex seal it comes in white also and it is flexible as well
