    Hey guys, what's up?
    This video was a long time coming, due to the one-two punch of Procrastinating and Hand-stitching. I really tried to put a bit more effort into the video (even made a snazzy little intro), so please let me know what you thought.

    whoa what. your production value is great, how do you not have more subs than this??? Also can we take a moment to appreciate the hand quilting of leather? Or just leather work in general? It always seems like such a hard material to work with but you make it seem natural. excellent work here. I think i'll go binge watch all the other video's in this series now!

      Thankyou so much, that's incredibly kind. I thought it would be good to include some of the mishaps as well; sometimes stuff just kinda goes wrong and you have to roll with it

    Very cool make! I love the dance at the end. I also appreciate you sharing your disapointement in the first stain and showing us what you did to fix it. I'm glad I found this video, will have to go and enjoy the costuming videos I see are already here, and I look forward to returning for future videos : )

    I... I didn't know the quilting was done by hand. All hail Cxizent! That is seriously impressive. Also, the eyelets are adorable!!

      Honestly I love getting into my flow state with saddle stitching, it's very relaxing (but also time consuming)

    As a beginner looking to craft something along the lines of the witcher gear, this terrifies me but it must feel so rewarding. Cool video as always!!

      My secret is that the terror is integral to the process lmao. Thanks for the kind words!

    SO MUCH DETAIL!!!
    AMAZING!

    So...shouldn't it be black and NOT the beautiful brown?

      Thankyou! This is based on the colour and model of the pants in-game - some of the promotional art showed them in different colours, but I decided to go with this one.

    You really showed so good how you went about the whole process (not that I could ever replicate that). Now I have to go see what else you did of this fantastic costume.

      Thanks for the kind words, but I'm sure you'd be surprised! I'm self-taught and I've tried to pass that on with some little tutorials; most of the steps in this were just doing the same little step over and over

    The flat pattern shape for the hose is wild compared to modern trouser patterns! Your pants turned out really well - can't wait to see the full costume!

      Thanks! I like to think I'm pretty good at geometric thinking, but I spent so long staring at the pattern trying to figure out where the "front" was 😅

    So now a question for you, four year after you made these... how do you clean these babies 😅 because with the leather chucking them in the laundry can't be an option

    Genuinely surprised you got enough stretch out of bias cut linen to make a set of functional hose. Bias cut wool is way stretchier.

    • @Cxizent
      @Cxizent  3 роки тому

      You and me both! Especially when I realised that anchoring the linen to leather would undo all my hard work of cutting on the bias, because the leather doesn't really stretch

    Hello there. What textile do you reckon Cavill's trousers are made of in the Netflix Witcher series ?

    • @Cxizent
      @Cxizent  2 роки тому +1

      Hi! Good question, I think from memory they were either some kind of very thin garment-weight leather, or some kind of waxed "oilskin" similar to canvas, or a Driza-bone

    • @wordsshackles441

      @@Cxizent Thank you mate. In season 1 his pants don't look like they are made of leather. Do you reckon it is some sort of cotton or wool fabric ? Here are the trousers in question : ua-cam.com/video/KfaUIIUm0J0/v-deo.html

    I feel like this is a dumb question, but my ADHD won't let me give it up, how would you wash these pants? Because wouldn't the leather get damaged if you got it wet too much? Also, how did you acquire that sweater?

    • @Cxizent
      @Cxizent  3 роки тому +2

      You're right, they certainly couldn't be washed normally. I'd have to carefully handwash them with vinegar or something, and then re-oil the leather sides. Honestly though if they get dirty and stained that sells the cosplay more so I'll just not wash them hahaha.
      I bought my cardigan sweater thing from a local market, it's made of alpaca wool!

    • @DarkestWine
      @DarkestWine 3 роки тому

      @@Cxizent Well now I want a sweater like that more, locally made and alpaca?! Nice. Hopefully you find a way to keep the pants clean and weathered!

    • @Cxizent
      @Cxizent  3 роки тому +1

      Hasn't come up yet, but when it needs washing I'll very carefully handwash the fabric part!
