      1996 had:
Tupac's death in September 13th, 6 days after being murdered in Las Vegas
Renato Russo's death in October 11th from AIDS
Mamonas Assassinas's death at March 2nd in a Plane Crash
Canadian Progressive Rock band from Toronto called Rush released the 16th studio album Test For Echo in September 10th that marked the last Rush studio album because of tragedies in Neil Peart's life
German Rock band from Hannover called Scorpions released the 13th studio album Pure Instinct in May 21st
American Thrash Metal from L.A. (Los Angeles) called Metallica released the 6th studio album Load in June 4th, which is considered by many fans to be the band's most commercial album showing more of a Hard Rock side of Metallica than the band's typical Thrash Metal style, which alienated much of the band's fanbase and also featuring influences from genres such as Southern rock, blues rock, country rock and alternative rock
Michael Jackson released the protest song They Don't Care About Us in April 16th, that was accompanied by two music videos directed by Lee. The first was shot in two locations in Brazil: in Pelourinho, the historic city center of Salvador and in Santa Marta, in a favela of Rio de Janeiro and the same he started his HiStory World Tour in September 7th
Brazilian Thrash Metal from Belo Horizonte called Sepultura released the 6th studio album Roots which was the band's last studio album tô feature the Schizophrenia-era lineup with founding member and vocalist/rhythm guitarist Max Cavalera leaving the band in December the same year
American Rock from New York City (NYC) called Kiss reunited original members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss resulting in the beginning of band's Reunion Tour in June 28th, which was the first tour with original lineup since the Dynasty Tour in 1979
American Grunge from Seattle called Soundgarden released the 5th studio album Down on the Upside in May 21st which was the Soundgarden's last studio album until 2012's King Animal as tensions within the band led to its break-up the following year in April 1997
American Hard rock/Blues rock from Boston Aerosmith started the recordings of the 12th studio album Nine Lives which was released the following year in March 18th, 1997

The 90s, the age of living in the moment. Before we had camera phones and access to all information on the Internet. A time when playing outside was fun, we built dens, climbed trees, playing fields, playing on the streets. Knocking on doors and running away. Playing on a Nintendo NES, SAGA megadrive and an N64. Playing board games. And being told to come home when "the lights come on". Nowadays, kids from the age of 3 know how to google search and UA-cam. Playing online games, socialising only on multiplayer games. You don't see kids out on their bikes, making dens, playing Curby outside their house. Everything about the 90s was just levels above.

still hot, take off your nostalgia glasses. Back then a lot of people were also following stupid trends, dressed the same to fit into some mainstream stereotypes. Just as they do today. And there are still a lot of artists that "are themselves" expressing themselves, Billy Eilish as an example for mainstream pop music, but there are a ton of cool individual artists withing underground scenes all across different genres.

It’s all about the difference between being in your ‘20’s and in your ‘’50’s....gee wizz, if I was supposed to still be dressing like I did in my ‘20’s and singing songs about the break up with my first boyfriend...while ignoring marriage, motherhood, travel, maturity, life lessons, a changing world etc etc etc, I’d be Madonna...I’m glad that Gwen has remained true to herself throughout her life’s journey, and brought us along for the ride.
