Darren, I read somewhere that when growing clover, put your cattle on the field, they graze on the clover and poop on your field feeding them and improving fertility also. If you make fields 10/10 it is the same size as cattle grazing
If you put them in an area to graze that’s not a field it raises the fertility as well.
FYI, when the Laborers number is red, that means there is a deficit. You should take your builder number down until the laborers turns white.
He knows.. he just keep forgetting things…
That is a great hint on how to try and keep up with production of basic resources and bringing in wild foods, but you can also remove some given tasks like chopping wood, making planks, and such if they are a little ahead of current needs. Whatever building they were working in will be empty of workers until you put someone back in there to make more, but the common laborer number will get a temporary boost. You will be waiting on more villagers to join the town and keeping an eye on harvesting and town needs.
I might suggest adding a watch tower around any of your more permanent work sites set outside the village, it will provide protection against those roving wolves that were seen last video.
Edit: Also, if I remember correctly from the first video, there are two wolf dens up by the iron/gold deposits
Love the town. Haven’t missed an episode. Hope you can keep the series going.
Thank you!
I've found that having four 7x7 fields works best. Each field only uses 2 farmers, which leaves more people to do whatever else you need. And I have a 4 way rotation, so every field is doing something different every year. Every year one field is fallow, 2 are producing food, and 1 is producing Flax or Grain. Doing this, plus one compost yard, I keep all 4 farms over 80% fertility, which seems to work very well for me. Once you have the Preserver, you can do mostly carrots and turnips as you can preserve them.
if your running out of room and need to expand (whist preserving some greenery like that swamp); shift the Northern Wall and shift them towards the iron and gold mines.
Then shift the old/original residential area up towards that new northern wall, and the 2 Arborist Buildings (the fruit trees) westward.
From there you may expand/shift the Town Center, Trading Post at the center of town; giving them there own walls, cobber stone and gardens separated from the rest.
Best investment for building in long run its oak trees - 1 gold to plant 7 wood, it sells for as high as 5 gold for 1
18:32 Another player was having this problem but then he disabled milking and slaughtering worked.
I agree with your point about deaths being more costly - This game is compared to Banished for a lot of reasons and in that game, when you took in a group of nomads, they would all need food immediately and would sometimes bring in an illness that would hurt your city so the decision to take on newcomers wasn't so automatic. If you look at the comments before the next episode, there is a second trader at the trading post. Once you get your Blacksmith making weapons and your Armory making armor, you'll be making tons on your trades.
You get 2-3 traders depending on your tier. When you're in the trade post, there will be tabs if there are more than 1 trader there. Also, check your trade post periodically the first 3-5 months of the new year.
Trader wagons tend to show up in early spring to early summer, and again in early fall to mid fall.
You only have to click the harvest and prioritise buttons once per berry bush.
Then labourers rush to harvest them it's very quick.
Fantastic series, love your commentary and i will certainly begin my own soon and start playing this game.
I just wanted to say that I've really been enjoying your content lately. Also, I'm no expert but your editing is super on point. It seems like you really take time and thought into what you put out for people to consume. Keep up the great work!
At the moment, I am wondering what software he is using to capture game play and edit the video before posting to UA-cam.
I tend to think of wolf dens as a great meat, hide, and tallow supply, but you do risk the hunter if he gets attacked by more than one wolf at a time. I have also noticed hunters almost always take some damage from even a single wolf attack. In any case, two hunter cabins fairly close together seems to help if they work as a team. Only one hunter will harvest a single wolf and the other hunter will continue to hunt.
looking forward for your next episode, really like how you get immersed in this :)
The road leading out southwest isn't connected die to the outer road coming in at an angle. The same applies to the road next to the farms. Their slightly angled which causes a inproper connection. Keep up the good work, cause I'm really loving the series.
The game does seem to depend on a very straight road grid to avoid traffic flow issues. Curving roads tends to make traffic flow something to manage closely. Maybe in the future that won't be an issue.
More than a few buildings can be placed outside the walls and are likely to be ignored by raiding parties, but the villagers there may not be. I would expect the villagers to respond to the bell of the town center and run into town to avoid getting injured, or killed. This is something I need to test at some point.
Really enjoying this series!!!
For the barn im thinking that some of the herd are too young so it doesnt auto slaughter right away but it will the next year if you set it at 13. Also have your cows graze on the fields for fertility.
Love this game. You’ve been growing like a fiend.
I know it's been a year now. BUT ... No, that trader is new, just arrived has the old one left 1 minute back :D 28:55.
Edit: Old left around 26:45
wonder if you should build like wood collection, saw mill, would chopping, charcoal making, as a unit and put them all over where the wood is plentiful. Than make carts in the same areas and manually transport to either market or storage in the town . Make storage where most of the construction is temporarily. wonder if that would solve the materials problem.
:) Funny little face-palm: Lets make heavy tool production first before updating things with heavy tools.....doing the exact opposite. Oh, no heavy tools.
Since a compost yard is at a very low risk from raiders, I tend to place them outside of town and have even used them within a wall system and so far raiders don't try to get through the yard and into town through the compost yards.
This gate discussion has likely been started already, but I noticed you have gates facing inward while open, but history would suggest they need to face outward while open since it is easier to reinforce them with a wooden beam on the inside. When gates close inward they resist going past the closed position and the wooden beam on the inside helps prevent them from being pushed, or forced inward. Of course what a player would want to know is does that make a difference in the game, or not?
Outstanding …. Keep going. ❤️👍
There are "preferred" jobs for each person. If you get to a point where you don't have laborers and a building that needs a job manually assigned, it should bring up a list of people and it will give you a job they prefer, distance from said job and what needs have been met.
It brings up a list of the jobs they already have afaik
An interesting system they could add is your people could have a preferred job they want to work, bonuses if they work it and big negatives if they don't. Could encourage having to rely on the trading post more. Also could cause your village to have to make large changes to its economy as different generations pass and the young don't want to work the jobs of the old.
Well dang, the game isn't complicated enough for you yet?
@@wastedwatts never could a game be to complicated
@@MrHellknightimp Well, this one is already getting a tad too much for new players and I suspect it is going to get worse as more upgrades are provided.
Actually, I think Deming was never properly hunting - hunters don't automatically attack boars, they run away. If you want someone hunting boars, you need to manually instruct them to attack every time (which is too much micro - I only did that when boars were the only source of meat nearby). So, at the moment (as of version 0.74) you can only place hunters near deer or wolves if you don't want to manually hunt.
Ive seen someone else say that but ive seen hunters kill boars on their own. But im not sure if the boar attacked thrm first or if they hunted it themselves
@@WhatDarrenPlays I think there's even a gameplay tip about boars on the loading screen. But the AI may be inconsistent, it's EA after all.
@@WhatDarrenPlays In the game per-game hints, or tips, hunters don't go after boars by themselves. That would suggest you don't want to assign a hunter to search too far towards a boars spawning/location marker, or he might not survive.
i have an unhealthy relationship witht thislets play series. please keep feeding my addiction TY
I am thinking that tower just on the edge of town where the road has a Y needs a little walling in with a gate to give it a little more longevity.
I think you queued the foundry, which needed a heavy tool to build, then exhausted all of your heavy tools upgrading places.
Heavy tools, as with common tools is something to keep an eye on, but once you can make them, the focus is more on iron ore becoming iron bars, or ingots.
Domesticating wolves would be tight
So you like the idea of wolf dogs running loose in the town? Might put a damper on meat storage, but as working military dogs/wolf breads since they are dire wolves, that would be an interesting boost to the military activities. I could see marching a batch into unexplored territory.
Map Seed ? Love the Gold Deposits, Not sure if Resources are always the same
Well played
If you want to repair a building due to a fire, or other event, I was told all you have to do is set it for relocation, even if you put it for the same place it was. I have yet o test this, but I am interested in if this works, or not.
Great video
Im liking the town!
almost an hour to watch, awesome :D
ok turns out all episodes have this length and i just didn't realize. only underlines how enjoyable it is to watch!
Nice episode. This game needs pigs, sheeps and horses
Well dang, you want more work for your villagers and adventure with horses?
@@wastedwatts more food and clothes actually
My friend worked for a septic company and a burst pipe had him swallow a bunch of someone else's sewage. He ended up with typhoid
Good God
He’s lucky Typhoid was all he got.
I wonder if you could move watchtowers on the localize industry for protection. Is their a efficiency correlation between the size of the farm to the weed removal?
You can move towers around as needed at the cost of common labor time, if you have plenty to keep up with the tasks you have assigned. As to weed control, it comes down to how many farmers are available to work the fields and what plants you are growing.
Love these vids
Great series Darren! Isn‘t there a cheesemaker who can turn your loads of milk into cheese to make it last longer?
Yeah im just so short on building materials I cant quite afford the investment right now but its coming soon!
I am thinking the reason you are going to suffer from a heat wave has to do with the wells don't have any trees growing near them. I guess the programmers are targeting the wells to cause you to read their information and notice they recommend a tree, or two be growing close by.
Love it!
2500 logs of poo make 1 compost incase anyone was wondering xD
love vods m8
I wonder if we can have stone quary since there's lots of mountains in there
That would be a nice addition to available resources, and some have said the latest update provided more stones to harvest, but you will need to start a new map for the upgrade.
Imagine having a full wheelbarrow of poo in your house. Impressive!
Select only fish on new outside smoke House
I always run out of gold, you need a collage degree to understand farming LOL
This is just satisfying age of empires
Yes, it is a lot like Age of Empires.
imagine someone named "memeboy69" working as a hunter.
I think that is possible. 🤭
Does beehives improves fruits fertility ?
It is suppose to help all sorts of plants produce more.
what is this game, decoration building simulator?
LOL, it might seem that way.
I'm playing on the same seed and there is literally no big lakes in my first spawn area... I think I'm on the other side of the mountain
This game vs banished which is better?
Probably this, has more to do
@@WhatDarrenPlays thankyou ❤️❤️❤️
There were two traders, you missed one.
Not hard to do even while working the Trading Post.
Awesome....but are they starving? Everyone of these games that comes out is incredible, but you cant feed your people! WTMF
Nobody in my game is starving, came close before as food got low, but its pretty much fine now
LOL, so anyone villager that runs from certain death is a coward? I hope the villagers don't hear that, or the graveyard is likely to fill up a bit faster. After all, they seem to think they are suppose to keep their tyrant/god happy.
Dead is good for generation
Darren barrack please 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Coming next ep!
Why is the cemetery empty? Your people are dying like flies.
When you created the cemetery you had to send someone to pick up the body to go bury.
I have not seen you do it since then/
Actually, he didn't have any death between episode 2 and the last one. And no, it shouldn't be necessary to manually pick up bodies.
So far I've had 1 die in Episode 2, 2 die in Episode 7, and 2 die in Episode 8. Bodies are picked up by Labourers and buried in the cemetery... 5 in total now!
like
hey Darren can you do ep 4 of Project Zomboid Modded
Pretty sad to see this series decrease in quality episode by episode. Boring micromanaging, constantly forgetting to finish stuff, ignoring messages and especially forgetting Sathorius. There is just no objective he is working towards
