    Hello Jordan. I found some misleading information that I would like to point out, so your subscribers wont be confused :) Hope this helps.
    1. Atomos Ninja V records very flat. No. It records the exact Picture Profile that you set on your camera. If you set it to Log, then it will record Log. If not, then you don't have to edit colors after.
    2. ProRes stores much more information and IS LARGER is size compared to H.264. (ITS A GOOD THING!). Thank to less compression, your computer doesnt have to work as hard to decompress it when you are editing you videos. The more you compress it in camera, the more you have to uncompress it.
    3. Atomos Ninja V is 4K recorder, but has only FullHD display. Which is also completely fine - as it still will record 4K. The display is only 1920x1080.
    4. You can also connect microphone to your camera and other one directly to the Atomos. It supports 2 channels (left and right) through HDMI. This way, you can record up to 4 channels with Atomos Ninja V.
    If you find any other mistakes, please leave it bellow this comment :) all the starting videomakers will be very thankfull!

      @@abigraphy It simply records whatever settings you have. If you have log, it records log. If you shoot in rec709 it records in rec709. If you shoot black and white, it records black and white. What you see, it records (ignoring log-assist that some cameras have)

      Question! Does the frame rate need to be set on the camera in order for it to be recorded that way on the recorder? Like, if I want to record 60 and I'm at 24, do I need to change the frame rate inside the camera in order to change it on the recorder? Thanks!

    My advice is to do research before you do a video. Flatter footage doesn’t come from the Aromos comes from the camera settings

      Exactly, you can set the camera to any color profile and it will be sent to the recorder, however if you send log footage then yes it will be flat and in need of color grading and correction.

    • @mpell66
      @mpell66 3 роки тому

      Hi Jordan, I am considering using it with my Panasonic Lumix S5. I need an external monitor, whether I want to spend extra for one that records in a higher quality codec than the internal recording is the question. Very likely yes, even though an extra part of the cost is all the 'extras' that you mention in your video. I only edit using Davinci Resolve so will not be able to use the Prores RAW directly and probably won't invest time and money in re-rendering it so it can be edited. I imagine using the other Prores codecs that (I assume) Davinci Resolve can edit, or using the Avid DNxHR codec, there will still be a noticeable potential for a better quality output than from the on camera recording. Do you have any experience with these aspects?

    It's a great product. Recording in 4k will devour memory like there is no tomorrow. If you plan on shooting a lot of HQ 4k video - I recommend you look at a 4tb SSD. I have 2 of the San Disk Ultra 4tb with this part # SDSSDH3-4T00-G25. They seem to work well for my applications. You will also need to have the RAM, Processing power, and a very large drive on your computer you plan to do the editing on. I have a RAID 5 array with 30TB of space I use only for video. 4k HQ video will eat up storage space like nothing else.

    Misleading video.
    Ninja V have two ways of recording:
    1) Almost any format camera can output
    2) Pure row output
    On a 1 TB drive, you can record from 30 min to 17:00 hours of video.

Your standard picture profiles can still be used that don't 'need' to be graded. It doesn't make a difference if you are recording internally or externally.

      Hi Noah, I am not 100% sure on the following as I do not use a R5 myself, someone else may be able to clarify this.. However I believe that there is no ProRes Raw output from the R5 and the R5 HDMI output is limited to 4K 60fps @ 10bit 4:2:2. Canon seems to be moving away from external raw options as they are doing a lot of it internally now. There is still some uses though for the Ninja V with the R5 such as syncing multi camera setups, hope this helps.

      @@JordanFowlerYT I'm thinking of selling the ninja and using the extra cash for a drone upgrade. But not just yet. Still have to think about it. Just depends if I can find a good enough use for the ninja or not.

      @@w123luke Tough one that, worth thinking about. Personally I love to use an external monitor whether recording to it externally or not as is much easier to see and use than the camera screen in my opinion, I also like to use it for focus peaking etc and to view my footage with luts that I've created. Plus you could always use it to record gaming clips if that is something you're into. But tough decision and down to you, depends whether you think you would get more value from it or a new drone upgrade bro!

      @@JordanFowlerYT I really appreciate your opinion actually, this gave me a lot to think about. I'd like to keep it cause it could come in clutch someday but also my current drone is a DJI spark haha.

    What do you mean by if you don't plan to colour grade then the Ninja V isn't for you? That statement isn't correct my friend because not everyone shoots in log

    • @TheMash84
      @TheMash84 2 роки тому

      If you don't shoot in LOG it means you'll probably just shoot with default camera profiles, hence no colour grading involved.
      With this situation the Ninja V would be pointless, a normal monitor would just work great.

    A noob question here.
    For those of you guys who gave Blackmagic 6k. It seems counterproductive to shoot externally to these monitors that support 4k when the camera shoots 6k? So the only reason in this case scenario to have a monitor as such would be to have a better vantage point than to use the shitty inbuilt monitor?

    • @jakubbenko5583
      @jakubbenko5583 3 роки тому +2

      Yeah, external monitor will probably be better choice for you. It will be cheaper, lighter and have longer battery life as well. Atomos Shinobi is basically Ninja V without the recording. Or you can look for smallhd, feelworld etc.

    A LUT can be baked in lol know your facts first just click on the rec while in the monitor and also yes ya right! pro res files are hugeeeeeeeeeeeeee lol that’s why 10.66 or .65 you can now get .265 for a way smaller file management, not hating, it takes courage to come on UA-cam and be a vlogger one mistake and it’s like you don’t know nothing, but continue and great channel so far

      @@JordanFowlerYT I think what Mark should’ve pointed out is that it’s not necessarily bad but it’s obviously pretty echoey and probably should set up some blankets underneath you or some sort of sound treatment if you’re gonna do your talking head shots in that same spot.
