Singapore is a crazy country with millions of plants from the entire world throughout the country. I was amazed how actually managed to maintain so many plants
Every time you're on the road and show us new, great places like this, I'm happy that you show us these and sad that I'll probably never get to see them myself. 🥺🥺🥺 I searched directly for Muehlenbeckia platyclada and where you can get this here in Germany ... what a beautiful creature !!! 😍
I went there when I was in Singapore earlier this year, yes this is one of the best gardens I have been to. This garden is not to be missed if anyone is visiting Singapore.
Delightful you got to the top green place in Spore. My uni dorm was just walking distance and we enjoyed walks there. The Spore team has done a brilliant job improving and maintaining the Botanic Gardens created by the British who were there till 1957.Back when I was there, the Spore botanic gardens held open air concerts with people sitting on grass enjoying picnics whilst listening to British bands like Dire Straits belt out " Money for Nothing". Evry wkend some band playd there. Thanks for a great walk down in memory lane. looking forward more of your channel's lovely tours of flora in Spore.!!💝💞💜💙💚💛💙
I LOVE the tours that you do, especially Singapore--probably because it's a mecca for tropical plants. I know if I fly to Aussie again I want to stop in Singapore because of the tour you did of the bay. One of my favourite calatheas is the Stromathe because of how the light makes the leaves glow purple. I hope many of these plants will find their way to N America to our garden stores :)
Lovely Episode and so Rich in Plants !!! But the Best part for me were the Birds !!! & Loved the fact that most of them are RESCUE birds !!! Bravo Sir he is truly blessed!!!
Wow! Made me appreciate my home country's plants alot more. We see them every day so take it for granted. But with this video, really opened my eyes to appreciate and recognised the different foliage we have here! Thank you for your video!
Thanks for the highly insightful tour of our own Singapore Botanical Gardens haha! i've been there so many times but I've never seen these plants in the same angle as your video showed them LOL. Now I am so much more aware of how many different species we have here
I really enjoyed the Ginger and variegated plants. So many variations on one leaf is mind boggling to me. I also liked the under story plants like the prayer plants. What a great video. Thank you for educating me Summer! You're brilliant. :)
Hello... Back to Singapore for the second time? Enjoyed your last series where u visited gardens by the bay and some nurseries. Look forward to see more of your series in this garden city.
Such a thoroughly enjoyable tour Summer...thank you so much! I always learn something new ~ for instance the purple-bottomed leaves are not just beautiful but they help deflect light back up into the leaf again to maximize available sunlight! Also that calcium oxalate crystals help re-diffuse light within the leaf structures as an additional aid to boost photosynthesis. Your videos highlight to me that the flora of the world is just so utterly wonderful, precious & amazing, especially in how it adapts/evolves to cope with its environment. My particular favourites here are Dracaena goldieana & Cissus discolor with those extraordinary leaf variegations. I would love to have that vining Cissus in my home!
Whoa, this episode is amazing! Thank you so much! These plants are just wonderful! half of my soul is still lingering on those images youve shown of the maranthacea family plants. They looks so healthy and well taken care of! I remember the sad sight in my local greenhouse, they used some pesticide or I dont know what, but all the leafs were covered with what seems to be dried muddy water. you could barely tell the coloration on leaves of things like golden pothos. As someone who avoids traveling, youve certainly implanted a Singapore travel bug into me with your field trip episodes to this country. haha!
There are so many plants in this video that I have never seen before but more than that I love these videos for learning the botanical names of plants.
nice! i've never seen stromanthe's that beautiful and tall! glad i can find most of those plants in our local nursery here :) thanks for the field trip Summer Rayne Oakes!
So happy to see a Bat Flower included!!! I adopted one, this Australian winter and have been homing it inside until it’s warm and humid enough to put outside. Fingers crossed it lives and flowers, that juicy babe has a crazy flower I’m hanging out to witness.
Spectacular video, thank you for it. It's been over 30 years since I was last at the Botanic Gardens in Singapore, and I am definitely going to go there when I visit that island nation next year. I know I will wander amongst the plants with a different view of them, thanks to how you enthusiastically described some of them on your little tour.
I live just about 2km from this place but I have never ever been to it! The heat and the bugs will likely be the death of me but I would go for that treubii alone 😍
Love your plantventures. I have an Alocasia Stingray; the leaves stay smaller indoors. But it does have an mealybug-problem that's hard to get in control of. Keep up the good work, learning a lot!
I think you could live in there!!! Heaven, or- Eden!!! "Summer in Eden"- a title for your future book! Speaking of leaves as attractive? You presented a ton of them from Singapore! Thank you! And a graceful Chinese squirrel! 🌿
The pellionia gets darker when exposed to bright light, I discovered. What a wonderful place to be! Lots of potential future houseplants. I love the selaginella :)
That Cyrtosperma Johnstonii is absolutely awsome. I like the one at Fairchild by the water feature too. I want that plant if I can get one. Related I think to TARO? Makes a vegetable based meal for eight. Lol. Beautiful as a landscape center piece or in a pond maybe. Thanks again Summer. Karl
OMG summer you know so much about plants and their names. Love your video's I am from Sri Lanka in this region you can grow so many plants cos the whether.
I think of the ones you highlighted, I have a soft spot for the Dracaenas and Aspidistras! I also love ferns, and the ones we see glimpses of look gorgeous. Also I'm currently reading your book, little over half finished. I love the botanical adventures you share, like when you traveled to Great Bear rainforest in British Columbia. It sounds so beautiful. :)
I love foliage plants 💚💚💚💚💚 i have some of that Dracaena Surcolusa, the Florida Beauty and Milky Way.. Planning to get some pilea carderei and the pelliona repens
I love them all:-). I only have 2 plants you show. The Pellionia repens and Muehlenbeckia . I want to visit Singapore one day! Thanks for taking us along!
I loved the Calatheas. The Silverplate does not love me although it gets great conditions here in the Caribbean. Everything is beautiful. Thanks for sharing!!❤
Wah Lao! How remember and pronounce all the different plant names. Very interesting & educational. Let see... Ae-Che-mea...fas-cia-ta.😳 Se-la-gi-ne-lla Ery-thro-pus. 😅
I’m a foliage guy, so this was a blast! It’s fun to see some fantastic new cultivars and the old tried and true , growing vigorously. The Goeppertia (Calathea) ‘Silver Plate’ really stood out for me, especially planted en’mass like that. I recently subscribed to theplanthunter.com.au , a terrific online magazine that you may be familiar with already. They publish out of Brooklyn........ . . . Australia. ;-) P.S. - I recently impulse bought a Cissus discolor. Wish me luck.
Hi Summer, have you ever heard of Surabaya? It's a city in Indonesia that pays attention to greenery as well. You might want to check it out. The streets are lined with trees. It's got a lot of interesting parks. The current mayor is female and she has received a lot of international awards.
Well done Summer. Wondering where are you going to in Singapore in your next field trip video. Maybe our Bukit Timah hill. Hope you will be back to look at our new ‘JEWEL’ within our Changi airport. Lots of plants inside a shopping mall. That’s ‘Spathiphyllum Sensation’. Mostly cultivated in Malaysia. Just got 3 pots from the nursery few days ago.
It's more interesting to observe your reactions. Most Singaporeans commonly think of these as weeds and magnets for mosquitoes. Would be more cool to do one on tropical edibles eg medicinal, herbs, etc and help the young ones here recognise the treasures they're surrounded with.
You should check out Malaysia, Sungai buloh area...just type yeap nursery in waze gps(jz one of the plant nursery as a guideline, before you reach there you will be surrounded by many nurseries ... And wellcome to plant paradise...
Singapore is a crazy country with millions of plants from the entire world throughout the country. I was amazed how actually managed to maintain so many plants
Love seeing all these wonderful houseplants growing so well in their native habitat.
Every time you're on the road and show us new, great places like this, I'm happy that you show us these and sad that I'll probably never get to see them myself.
🥺🥺🥺
I searched directly for Muehlenbeckia platyclada and where you can get this here in Germany ... what a beautiful creature !!! 😍
Difficult to pick just one favourite! Begonias, stromanthe, and the variegated ginger looked fantastic! Thank you for taking us along this tour!
Wow..its amazing seeing all those plants that most of us have in our home in their natural environment!
I mean this is wow some of the featured plants are in my backyard. And in my view it adds for myself to love all the plants in our home.
I went there when I was in Singapore earlier this year, yes this is one of the best gardens I have been to. This garden is not to be missed if anyone is visiting Singapore.

Everytime I see these garden videos I always think "ok how can I live there" never fails. I want to live in every garden 😁
Enjoyed the tour, thank u so much Summer, for many of us might never visit a tropical paradise. I m in love with all those plants.

Thank you for this series of videos!
Wow so much of this is gorgeous! Loved seeing the forest birds too
6:07 I swear, Summer describes plants like a PokeDex would a Pokemon. She has both the shiny and the regular Pokemon.
That was amazing! Learned so much and now have to add some to the collection. Love the tour vids so much.
Some of the plants I have in my garden in I'm very happy to see that in your tour.. specially the begonias and pilea.. Thanks
Hope you had time to see more of the garden, but the foliage garden is quite nice (and quite new actually)
I'm living in southeast asia and all of these plants are familiar to me lol. Feeling proud for this.
I'm going to start saying that 'it has quite a veloutenous feel'
Oh my define veloutenous.
