He was building wood stoves and fhe said there will be one in Every home.... His name was Bobby Fisher........ Fishers wood stoves and the rest is history......

I've had a wood stove for over 20 years and always made sure I had the lit wood stove door shut before leaving the room because of a chance of sparks coming out of the stove that would start a fire. I've put a slab of slate on floor first before putting stove in. Some people put bricks on floor and walls where the stove is. Always started the fire with matches and never had a problem. I wouldn't chance it with your style of lighting a fire. Nice wood stove 👍 I had an Alagash stove that was made in Connecticut with 1/4 inch steel plate. Had it back in the 80's. Still working. 😊

RE starting fires in wood stove. One thing I've done for years (and learned from my Dad who still does it). He uses sawdust shavings but I use white pine animal bedding soaked in diesel. I keep it in a small box nearby and a very small amount on some half ass kindling and send it with a torch .. fire going in 30 seconds. I know you already use a torch, but all you have to do is hit any area of it with a flame and then walk away. Makes it so quick and also keeps your kindling making time down as well, especially in dryer climates where you have dry wood.

I bought a Blaze King woodstove 12 years ago when we first moved up here; it has been our primary heat source since then. We average 4 cords of wood a season ( September to late March / early April) and also use it for cooking on as well. It is a catalytic model same as your stove. It is worth every penny spent on it. We have not had to replace the catalyst yet, but could use a new thermostat gage as the original one is worn out paint and corrosion. I have one heat driven fan on the top and it keeps our home warm even at -60 below zero ... once the catalyst is active and burning hot you will not see any smoke as it will all be steam coming out. I clean the chimney once every two years since there is virtually no creosote bypassed.

I had a Blaze King in my old house. Great stoves! The cat converter allows you to slow burn without building up excessive creosote. Just make sure to let it get up to temp before flipping the lever, otherwise the life span of the cat converter will get shortened, and they’re pretty expensive to repair.
