  • After years of waiting, I'm finally able to get the best snowblower on the market, the Honda HS1332ATD. Let's see what this thing can do after an Alaskan snowstorm and I'll give you my honest opinion in the end. We'll also put an Ego snowblower to the test, test out Heattrak heated mats to melt snow, and end the day going to Alyeska Resort to go skiing for free on Santa Ski Free day. Enjoy!

      In the realm of whimsical tales, an unexpected trio unfolds-Jesus, Saint Peter, and a Honda snow blower. Imagine, amidst laughter and camaraderie, they share moments over a frosty beer, their laughter echoing through the air. Playful banter and shared stories weave a tapestry of humor, as they embark on adventures that blend the divine with the everyday. It's a lighthearted and goofy narrative that adds a touch of unexpected joy to the imagination.😁😁😁🤣@@markkeller1778

    Hi Timmy
    I've been watching your content for a minute now and I really enjoy it brother.
    The reason I'm sending you this message, I have been a carpenter now for about 43 years.
    I have been the one running jobs that I have worked on for better than 35 years.
    Seeing how you framed in your porch right under your threshold on that door that you're laying those mats on to melt the ice I thought I might give you some wonderful knowledge.
    Always under all circumstances always build your deck at least 2 inches below the threshold of any doorway going to the outside. This will save you so much wood rot damage and weather seeping into your house especially with piling snow outside your doorways.
    And with the living in Alaska I would probably recommend that you do 3 inches it's just a small step into the house but it's going to keep that snow how it will hold moisture well up from the bottom of the snow from getting under your doorway and rotting the wood.
    After you complete your deck and your decking on top of it you simply put a one or a 2X piece of wolmanized under your threshold to give it the support that it's so desires.
    And please let me add if you will, before you set that door in the hole put you a piece of flashing across the bottom bend it down on the outside bend it up on the inside that it sits against the front of your door and just give it a bend on the edges and crimp those hard to work with areas tightly together and give you a good piece of silicone on those before you set your door in the opening along with silicone under the door for weather related blowing of air. On the inside of your door just place a small piece of metal
    Just a quarter inch or so. Carpet or tile with easily hide this from eyes view if needed.
    I am always happy to give a young lad some good advice in carpentry when I have the chance such as yourself.
    😊

    hey tim, GC in Upstate NY here. In reference to your roofline ice issue, I think the heated pads are a good start. But the larger issue is the corner where different rooflines meet. If you are going to get a renter in there you probably should address that in the summer when more accessible. Looks like the ice/snow could give and fall directly onto whoever is walking. This could be triggered by something as simple as slamming the door shut. Not entirely sure what a good solution is, maybe an iceguard. Anyway, just my two cents. Love the video, the new snowblower is an absolute monster.

    • @timmytimmy666
      @timmytimmy666 4 місяці тому +7

      Here in Norway we have similar weather conditions. And over here when we see this kind of ice coming forming on the roof line, we almost always conclude that there is too much heat coming in contact with the roof on the inside - in other words bad insulation. When you have snow on the roof it insulates very good, and you need pretty warm weather for it to really start dripping by itself, and then forming ice. So this is probably melting from underneat. Just a thought.

    • @bredaspacapan6118
      @bredaspacapan6118 4 місяці тому +4

      The solution would be if he just enlarged the deck roof so it goes over the stairs and balcony... He can still do that.

    Hi Timmy, I'm new to your channel. Been sick for 2 wks and the channel came up in recommendations. Binge watched bunches of episodes. Enjoyed them. Loved your dad's cabin too. Really awesome cabin. It's been really fun watching what you get up to over there across the miles. I'm in the UK myself so definitely another world. First day back at work and my car was all iced up real early... but I didn't complain after watching you in the snow so much. 😂 Amazing how your channel and antics reach so far, and how you can make someone's day a bit lighter for them by just being you. So thanks Timmy👍 Really looking forward to see how the house goes and seeing some more road trips. I felt really proud of your truck.. 😂..yeah, I know that sounds a bit crazy, but just the way she always starts like a faithful old horse ready to carry you endlessly around 😂 always generally starting up against the odds. You really are a genius Timmy, I can't imagine how you know how to do so many things. ...er, fancy forgetting your head mount or chest mount for skiing! But you just filmed anyway no problem for you.😅 Good video, taking us along for the ride today..It is lovely there. Those heat pads.. grt idea! Well, hope you have another nice hot coffee or 3 (😂) and we will all see you next time👍🙋🇬🇧

    So glad you are part of our lives (I hope I can speak for most all of your Subscribers). You are so very comfortable being solo in front of your camera and in your content - that is admirable. If you don't already feel it - please know that you are not alone in your adventures and this recently-new Subscriber appreciates every opportunity to share your experiences with you. You are so welcoming and have great energy. Thank you.

    I'm going to go ahead and give you another little tip as far as putting in your doors. If you know what you're going to use on your finished flooring, you might want to compensate that on the height that you set your door off the floor so you won't have to worry about your door swinging your rug out from in front of it after everything is done.
    So if you were going to put the 3/4 inch flooring down on your finished floor you would want to put a piece of half inch plywood underneath your door before it is set in place. And so on and so forth.
    If you were going to put tile in front of your doorways you would want to compensate for your backer board and your tile sitting against the front of your
    Threshold, this will be depend on the materials you are using of course.
    Like I said you always want your door to flow past your rug that you may have in front of it on your finish job.
    Justin Moore recommendations from a professional Carpenter.
    Have a great day brother,enjoyed your video today.

    Tim,
    I’m a Mainer & I bought the same EGO snowblower a few years ago to go along with my big ‘ol Ariens gas powered snow destroying beast.
    I got it so my lucky wife and/or daughter can now share in all the fun of clearing the wet, heavy snow we get here in Maine during the last few months of winter.
    God, they’re the luckiest girls alive - some dudes but jewelry but, down deep, we all know that every woman would prefer power tools!!!

    • @Dr.J.Garlock
      @Dr.J.Garlock 3 місяці тому

      The EGO is great!
      It works really well, has excessive power and is light, quiet & very maneuverable, but the batteries die too quickly (I may need to make a warranty return for at least one of them).
      That said, I’m not sure it’ll last as long as my Ariens - it’s built out of some sort of rugged plastic but just doesn’t feel as durable or bullet proof as the good old metal, combustion engine beast!

    Not knocking your Honda blower at all. I grew up in Michigan many, many years ago. My dad bought what I think was an MTD blower (for me?) to keep the driveway and paths to the barn and dog kennel cleaned. It was self propelled, had forward and reverse, a simple chute adjust lever for direction and height. It didn't throw as far as yours, but I was many times throwing snow 2-4 feet deep. I do like that Honda, but since I live in S. Georgia now, I'm glad you have use for it. BTW, I have an old Army buddy in Anchorage that has met and talked with you.

    Tim, why haven't you eliminated the drip before it gets onto the steps, with guttering? Placing heated cables along the rooflines and into the downspouts seems a much better use of electricity. And I'm always surprised that your windshield remains cracked - here in Illinois/Chicago area that would get you ticketed.

    Very nice house you built and what a view! Also nice having the snowblower on the roof, sure beats shoveling all that! Oh and a very nice honda!

    Sorry that small bend on the inside going up is just from that one piece of metal that you lay in the bottom of your doorway. Have a great day brother.😊

    A thought. I also follow a couple that live high in the mountains of Utah. Lots of winter! They have built a cabin, a huge garage and are now putting an addition onto the cabin. They had a baby in there.
    I know nothing. They bought, what they call the candle heater the first year. This better enabled them to continue working on the inside all winter. I have no idea how much it cost but they’ve used it two winters and it’s up and going this winter. Just a thought.

    The EGO might work well on your roof deck but it sucks in deeper snow on the ground. It’s too light the front end won’t stay on the ground

    I like your home. My mom always had a red door. She passed away in 2022 and I am buying her house and the first thing I am going to do is paint over the red door. Your dad's cabin is really beautiful. When I started watching the video I said to myself he has to live in Blue Ridge. I live a couple hours from there. It's a beautiful place to live. Alaska is gorgeous but I am to old for the cold. I want to plan a trip out there. Be safe.

    Well Tim I’ve had one of those track drive 13-32 Hondas for 12 years now. No power Shute and the only way you can steer it is muscle. No led light. You know old school. I have literally hundreds of hours on it now. All I have replaced that has worn out is bearings in the impeller and the main auger. Plus I burned a belt before I paved my driveway when a rock got jammed in the auger. Until today lol. I went to pull start it and the cord wouldn’t return. So I took off the pull cord assy, dropped it off at the dealer. It has electric start so I told them no hurry. I just never used the electric start because it pull starts so easy. All I’ve done for maintenance is change the oil. Though now 12 years later at age 67 it does make me sore sometimes muscling it around. Though less refined than yours it for sure throws snow just as far.

    Honda tracked snowblowers are great. I had one for years in the Mat Su and never let me down. I moved a few miles with a bigger driveway so I got an old plow truck. I used to lock the level down with a small bungee so I just had to steer it. They track pretty straight on their own.

    The way I run the honda is to only use the trigger on the left side, pulling it going forward to turn left, pull it going backwards to turn right, that leaves my right hand free to use the hydrostatic and chute controls.

    Plumbing, put a porta potty on every floor with a suction hose out the window. Pipes will never freeze and burst. Place is looking great. Monster blower. I could use it in east Kentucky. Good vid Tim
