    Was hoping you would point out how you left the "joint" attached to the body when you broke the claw. If you aren't careful breaking those big claws, that joint will snap off with the claw leaving a gaping hole in the body of the crab and reducing it's odds for survival. Also, you made pulling those heavy traps by hand look easy! Pigs feet for the win! =) And one more time for the people in the back...do NOT ice, refrigerate, or freeze raw crab. It will make the crab stick to the shell and be a pain to pick. Secret: the meat in the claws that float are typically a little sweeter. Love watching your adventures and very informative videos!!!

    If both claws are keepers which one do you prefer to leave on the crab: his crusher claw or his pincher claw?
    For the conservation minded, ideally we leave the claw that helps them live the longest. Does it even matter which?

    can you do an episode on cooking ON the boat? Like, is it possible? I hear from some folks that you can't, others say you can. I don't know whom to believe.

  • @jimscott4539

    Also, one other thing…If you noticed when they were boiling some were floating! Those are re-grown claws that have not fully grown yet. They may look big, but the meat inside may be have of the claw size. You can avoid that buy simply tapping the claw with a tool before harvesting. Hollow sound indicates a floater.

    Pigs 🐖 🐷 feet the best way to go if you don't have alot of by-catch, great video but I'm old school and keep both if size ok, survival rate is the same as taking only one in the overall. But to each their own. Still like watching your channel and content...PS mustard sauce for me...

    I've learned a lot from your "how to drive a boat" type videos. Can you do a video on how to handle rough water like what Wavy Boats features? Here's an example: ua-cam.com/video/hH3nsTqdAd8/v-deo.html

  • @jimscott4539
    @jimscott4539 Рік тому

    This video may be a prime example of young people believing everything they see on the internet and telling others it’s gospel. Yet, it’s not! Some of the info is spot on. But, cooking info not so much…
    If your going to eat them right away then your good. But, if going to freeze and store you need to drop them in a bowl of ice water right away after cooking. Not, set them out to cool slowly because they’re still cooking. So your 10 min cook just became a 20 min over cook.
    And, bringing home buckets of sea water to boil in 🙄 That’s just someone’s wives tail, and unnecessary. Not to mention cooking your food with other stuff in the water besides salt. Just add sea salt to your boiling brine. Same thang, no hassles, and cleaner to do.
