- How to Catch Cobia + Insane Shark Frenzy
The cobia migration is happening now and we want to show you our favorite ways to fish for and land these crab eating mud sharks! Our preferred method for targeting these fish is to anchor on a wreck in the Gulf of Mexico in at least 20 ft of water off the Florida Keys. We put out knocker rigs with pinfish and crabs, flat lines with pinfish and wire rigs with blue runners in case we hook into a kingfish or shark. This time of year we usually don't have to wait very long for a bite but if it's slow we will work on catching snappers and blue runners while waiting for that big fish!

So now I know what a cobia is.... it looks like a perfect meal for sharks!
In Georgia, we have a huge run of menhaden during the start of cobra season so we use those on buck tail jigs. Drop to the bottom and reel up a foot or two depending on the seas so that it bounces along just off the bottom. Rodney can do all the work jigging if the seas are 1-2 foot plus.

Great video, what would you say the minimum amount of time needed to let pinfish trap soak....to get around 10-20 fish assuming the trap is in a good area.
One thing I miss about fishing on a boat in beep blue is the power and speed of the my favorite sea turtles, shark manta ray and stingray.that was fun video of the shark chased.
