I’ve watched many anchoring vids, but you two clarified the trick of using gps positioning to get as close as needed on the spot. Great job! Thank you.
My sentiments exactly. I don't have a 32 ft freeman, I have a 19 ft wellcraft bay boat, and I'm not about to buy a spot lock front mounted trolling motor. This is the original spot lock. Lol.
For real Rocky! I've been trying to tell them that it's only a matter of time till they have their own syndicated show, they're the total package of not just fishing skills but TEACHING those skills with their warm, fun, vivacious personalities! It's been totally rewarding watching them grow!
@@redfishradical Yep totally agree! Need to hire a agent as it is every hard to sell a TV deal with out rep! Good luck girls! I and redfishradical are pulling for you 2!
Twinning is Winning... You two work SEAMLESSLY TOGETHER!! Yet another new & different aspect for saltwater fishing, thank you yet again for sharing & making things so simple!
Hi, Emily and Amanda, I am Indonesian, I am very happy to see your yutube channel, both when fishing, because I also like fishing in the sea, success for both of you,
Hey ladies, very nice video! Your instructional videos have been great. What I have I have learned about anchoring (over the past 40 years or so) is to proceed a minimum of 5x to 7x the depth of the water beyond my desired fishing spot (the deeper the water, the further you need to go beyond your desired fishing spot before starting the anchor drop because you need to allow extra time for the anchor to get to the bottom) before I toss the anchor. Once the anchor is out with 3x depth in scope, I start to try and "set" the anchor to make sure it will hold bottom. Once the anchor sets, you can let out more scope until you are where to want to fish. If you do not "pre" set the hook, you can easily drag anchor passed your desired fishing spot and will have to start over. Better to have more scope out than not enough. I carry a minimum of 600' of anchor line (plus 35' chain) marked in 100' increments: Red, Yellow, Blue, White, Green (Rub Your Balls With Grease!). If anchoring in 80', I start setting the hook after "2 shots" of line are out (the yellow anchor lie mark; 200' + 35'). If the anchor does not set by the time I am 4x depth scope, it's time to start over (rare, very rare). Please keep the videos coming. You two are a hoot!
Amanda you and Emily are so awesome, you’ve come a long ways in a short time, even have a pink basket 😂😂😂 just right for you ladies, love your post , doing everything just right!! Keep up the good work!!🎣🎣😎👍😍
So good! It seems like it takes a long time before the stuff really starts making sense but when it does, you can really build off it by all these other great ideas that you guys give great building blocks for the new fisherman or woman ❤ thank you Twins
More great information. Ive been boating for years and this is the best instructional video on how to approach and anchor on your target fishing spot. Great job girls....10 thumbs up 👍 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Twins you are so perfect !! Next step and next test is: how anchoring your boat with many variable like wind tide and current to stay many hours on the vertical of a wreck or spot fish . I wait for a new your video about it. I make this kind of anchoring over all fishing over a wreck spot during the night :) Hugs both you
Wow the simplest things do help a bunch. Thanks ladies. I have a question. While the boat was drifting back towards the spot how did you keep the anchor from hooking the bottom? or were you letting out rope until you said stop??
Yes! Definitely more how to videos. Do some fishing and show what gear and methods or different methods you can use for one specific target specie, you could do a video for one specie at a time.
I second this comment. That would be a great video series. Even if you all did a species that I don't fish, you're so entertaining that i'd watch it anyway. I love the interaction between you two and the little comments like, "Oh, look! There's our spot."
excellent explaination. did you use the type anchor for rockie bottom? I'm planning to anchor in the Tampa bay area and am concerned my danforth type dig in the sand will get stuck in the rocks. even though I secure the chain to the back an tie wrap it to the front. thanks
Gale Force Twins How to use chart plotters, navigate using channel markers, and handle approaching boats. That might be too much for one video, but I think it would be interesting.
Thank you so much. Just a quick question, I noticed when you passed the spot in the opposite direction seconds later the boat’s position was towards the fishing spot. Did you use the steering wheel to help position the bow into the spot or the anchor pulled the bow into the spot’s direction?
Thank you it was very informative. Are all fish finders pretty much the same basic ideas on how they work just got a 23 ft Hydro Sport and i have a book that has about 100 pages in it to read but i would like to get oit and fish.
We use bleach jugs painted orange then meter the line on it for the depth you are fishing tie the stop point on the handle. When you drop bouy and the weight hits the bottom it will settle out and the handle will act like a keel the spot will be pointed in the direction you need to anchor. You will be on spot faster than sitting waiting on a drift line.
Anchoring is the true skill of boating. When blackfishing you have to be exactly on the wreck. 5 feet off and you will not catch them. I have watched several of the best ny captains setting two anchors out and never missing the wreck. Me usually two times. Close enough is not close enough. I have to be on it.
One skill to add, if others find it helpful, watch your compass heading when following your line back over your waypoint. Maintain that compass heading on way to drop anchor. Great video. I can't justify the $2500 for a spot lock trolling motor.
Using a standard ratio of anchor scope 5:1 for the 15.7ft of depth you guys were in, all you needed was to pass the target 78.5ft and release only 69ft of rope and it would have place you much closer than you were. Try it and if I am wrong I will buy you a soda!
I just roll up to my spot, press deploy then press spot lock. Stays on my mark, don’t have to worry about drifting, So much easier and leaves more time for fishing..
An anchor deployment is best undertaken by lowering the rode so the anchor hangs free so as to not get tangled in the anchor as it reaches the sea floor. Throwing out the anchor is not a marine, naval turm.

Its only easy when its calm seas and light wind and todays technology .There not old enough yet.. Try it when the wind is blowing NW or SW 10 to 15 + it hard as hell at least two or three try's before you get it right !!
You ladies are cute funny and fish. A dream girl for a guy your age. Love to fish with you guys next time a make a run down to keys in my 328 Commander by Seafox. Stay safe.

I was today years old when I learned the concepts of anchoring properly. Fantastic video!
Good information. Also learned the etymology of “catch my drift.” Appreciated!
You guys are the best at the three "E"s...Explain, Educate and Entertain...!!!

Thank you-seems simple until you try it. Good job explaining and showing how.
Great video. I was at a fishing seminar in Wilmington and a Captain spent 30 minutes on the importance of this very activity-anchoring over the fish.
I have to tell you I have learned more in three of your videos than dozens of pro guys videos
You guys are great thanks for your help
That’s amazing!! Thank you for watching 😊🐟

Love your videos, fantastic information.
May I ask what is the Garmin you are using.
Have you ever thought about doing a video on boat navigation?
Or what to do when your GPS fails how to find your way home?
Yes!! That’s a great idea! What in particular would you like to know?
Gale Force Twins How to use chart plotters, navigate using channel markers, and handle approaching boats. That might be too much for one video, but I think it would be interesting.
Great video and excellent info. What model anchor and weight is that? Thanks
Cool, beautiful Angler's 😎
Amazing 👏
I had no idea. Thanks

good stuff! thanks!
Hi.
By driving back over your mark, won’t you be making noise that scares fish away from below?
Cameron

How many lb is your anchor?
Did you get your new shirts back in stock?

where you guys been all my life, great content, where you guys base off ?
In my fishing spot we only use small anchors 😉 because I only use small boats to catch greetings and we are successful.
hi Emily and Amanda i was thinking if you will be travel to try fishing new fish if you guys do plz come to the bay area in cailfornia

How much rode do you let out for each foot of water?
Amamda 🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Do you know how to set a parachute anchor?
Yes good video idea!!
Great job ladies. You took a lot of guess work out of the equation for a new boater like me. 👍👍👍

Thanks - Wouldn't that compass heading be different when moving in both (opposite) directions? Cameron

what diameter rode do you use on this boat?
How about bearing compass??
I just roll up to my spot, press deploy then press spot lock. Stays on my mark, don’t have to worry about drifting, So much easier and leaves more time for fishing..
Excellent job! I thought you lived in the keys because your skyline isn't in the Keys. Where are you? It's all about the U!

Ya should make a video how to read the fish finder correctly because I don’t really under how to read it
Hi Ladies
Like to a show on using pitch baits for white marlin
Did you girls turn off the motor when you’re fishing offshore??
We only turn the motor off when we are on anchor fishing the reef!
Send me your email to send you an idea that we can probably patent it if you really like in regards to anchor
