At this point it looks like he's paid to review particular phones. And its surface level reviewing nowadays. He doesn't go in depth like other reviewers. Its quite disappointing because he used to and still is one of my favorite tech reviewers just not as much these days.

That's sad, I was looking forward for a OnePlus 12 review from you, but the reasoning behind why there won't be any just doesn't really make sense. To claim the reason is because "it only has a few incremental upgrades and I'm busy" while during the same period reviewing the S24 which is basically the textbook definition of incremental upgrade (it's an S23 with some Google AI stuff on top) seems dishonest at the very least. It honestly would've been better if you just said "there's not as much interest on this phone" or "Samsung reviews get more views so I'm going to prioritize those"
This phone deserves a review. I mean the fact that they're even teasing it for looking the same as last years phone is nonsense since thats exactly what Samsung has done with the S24 line up. Samsung phones look similar but they added a lot of new features. (Plus you have all the drama Exynos vs Qualcomm). The Oneplus12 is basically the same phone than last year with slightly upgraded specs and wireless charging. Smartphone hardware has plateaued, the improvements are minimal. What do you want him to say? "Well it's a good phone and it's cheaper than the concurrence." That would be a boring video about a phone company most of people do not care.

They really dropped the ball with this one. The oneplus 12 is a legit competitor to samsung. Its the first oneplus that made me choose to buy one. Just look at how it compares to the s24 ulta *Same processor *Same gpu *Faster wired charging (100w vs 45w) *Faster wireless charging (50w vs 15w) More ram (16gb vs 12 gb, Plus! the ability to use storage memory as ram up to 12 additional gb. So 28gb in total!) *more digital zoom (120x vs 100x ) *Bigger battery (5400mah vs 5000) *bigger max brightness (4500 vs 2500) *80w fast charging brick and fast charging cable included in the box * 400 or 500 cheaper than s24 ultra This phone is a beast! Its really weird that mkbhd didnt care for it. It seems to me like its personal since recently, it seems like his relationship with oneplus has soured.

OP12 felt like a really solid phone from the event. I pre-ordered immediately & have been refreshing mkbhd's channel everydya but end up looking at new tech reviewers' reviews. Feel great about the purchase even tho seems it doesnt have Marques' approval. When I saw the phone is getting compared with 24 Ultra, I knew its a good phone. Just hate that camera bump
And i hate the curved edges, tall(er than S24+) body, which makes the device look very narrow Also the alert-slider is placed way too high. When moving your finger there you easily touch the camera bump with your hand.

OnePlus didn't get rid of the alert slider. It just was not on the 10T. The only reason they deleted it from that phone was to make room internally for the advanced 125 watt charging. Internally, there wasn't room for both. In fact, OnePlus publicly stated that it was not a permanent deletion but, people freaked out anyway. Furthermore, the alert slider was present on the 10 Pro and the 11. Much to do about nothing over one oddball variant device. LOL I'd also like to state that OnePlus never had problems with their software. The problem was with Android 12. In fact, Android 12 was an awful operating system and it wreaked havoc with many devices from several manufacturers. Unfortunately, Android 12 came out at the same time that they revamped oxygen OS and gave it several color OS features. Instead of blaming Google for the issues with Android 12, people misdirected the blame to OnePlus. At the end of the day, it was never a problem with their software. When Android 13 rolled out, their software ran flawlessly.
Definitely deserves a review even if it's Apple Vision Pro season now. The review can still be delayed at a later date. OnePlus is a big enough brand and it deserves a review.
It feels like he's intentionally skipping the review of this generation of OnePlus phone, when they actually produced an amazing product at a reasonable price after a while. The phone is available in the North American market and offers better value than the S24 Ultra. Remember, he's an English channel with significant influence in the North American market. At this point, it seems like MKBHD only does paid reviews. Most of the reviews are at surface level and I would definitely not make a purchase decision based on them. What major upgrade did iPhone 15 pro had over 14 pro? USB C? And look how many videos he made about that. Same for S23U and S24U. He probably isn't reviewing it because he doesn't have enough time to. The S24 series are going to be purchased by WAY way way more people, and the Vision pro is way more interesting than any phone iteration. Hence, the last 5 tech videos on his channel have been on the 2 above products. Maybe Oneplus should wait until February or March to announce/release their phones (kind of like Google does with the Pixel series, i.e. waiting a month for the Apple hype to die down).

The seperate chips and modes on this phone to make it fast and more improved in so many aspects is much more innovative than the gimmick AI features and flat screen display on Samsung 24 ultra. Not everyone wants flat screens. Mrwhosetheboss made a long video on all the improvements and you sit here saying there isn't much to talk about. I just got my new OnePlus 12 and I have to say OnePlus did a very great work on OnePlus 12....I have used OnePlus smartphone since 3, 5T , 7 pro , 10 pro , Nord 2T and I have to say the display Is way way way better in new OnePlus 12.... the display is smooth like Butter....❤❤ the Battery backup is so good...and Camera , performance is just lit💥💥... and the haptic feedback is another level U have to review This OnePlus 12 device....it deserves it.... brother.....
I already know MKBHD has bias, but i still appreciate his reviews. It's not always about his opinion, but the differences from year to year or brand to brand. I'll accept this as a review, but i do wish he would have at least given it a 5 minute low production video.
With the offer of 512/16gb version for entry price, $100 trade in value for ANY phone, and now having basically no feature downsides, I really think it is the best Oneplus since their original "smartphone killers". Also, they keep their value better that anything except iPhones, so you can sell your OP 11 for like 500 still making the total cost to upgrade $200. With all that, you can spend $200 ever year and have always top of the line phones, or keep the same phone for 4 years and spend $800 to get a new one and not get anything for your old one since it has lost all it's value. Choice is clear for me. Samsung, in my opinion, make slightly better phones, but it is so darn close now. Oneplus is basically the only android phone you can do this with.
I'm with everyone here. Oneplus pretty much upgraded damn near every area of the phone. Better brighter display, better battery, better cameras with an added periscope lense and finally 4k on the front camera, video out, returned wireless charging, and hell even giving you $100 off for an old and dead phone. At this point it looks like he's paid to review particular phones. And its surface level reviewing nowadays. He doesn't go in depth like other reviewers. Its quite disappointing because he used to and still is one of my favorite tech reviewers just not as much these days.

It's the only phone with a graphics co-processor. It's storage is UFS 4.0. There's excellent software in there too!

Mrwhosetheboss convinced me he gave it such hi praises and after about 10 reviews and a bunch of articles saying its amazing maybe phone of the year even though its early on i was waiting to see his good thing i preordered before this
mrwhostheboss did a mistake in his video btw afaik. In his video it sounds like it is super bright and reaches around 4000nits, but thats only for hdr content according to GSM Arena

That's sad, I was looking forward for a OnePlus 12 review from you, but the reasoning behind why there won't be any just doesn't really make sense. To claim the reason is because "it only has a few incremental upgrades and I'm busy" while during the same period reviewing the S24 which is basically the textbook definition of incremental upgrade (it's an S23 with some Google AI stuff on top) seems dishonest at the very least.
It honestly would've been better if you just said "there's not as much interest on this phone" or "Samsung reviews get more views so I'm going to prioritize those"

Samsung phones look similar but they added a lot of new features. (Plus you have all the drama Exynos vs Qualcomm). The Oneplus12 is basically the same phone than last year with slightly upgraded specs and wireless charging. Smartphone hardware has plateaued, the improvements are minimal. What do you want him to say? "Well it's a good phone and it's cheaper than the concurrence." That would be a boring video about a phone company most of people do not care.

OP12 felt like a really solid phone from the event. I pre-ordered immediately & have been refreshing mkbhd's channel everydya but end up looking at new tech reviewers' reviews. Feel great about the purchase even tho seems it doesnt have Marques' approval.
When I saw the phone is getting compared with 24 Ultra, I knew its a good phone. Just hate that camera bump
And i hate the curved edges, tall(er than S24+) body, which makes the device look very narrow
Also the alert-slider is placed way too high. When moving your finger there you easily touch the camera bump with your hand.
It just a pity they dont give one plus the honour it deserves . I has one of the biggest batteries in a flagship . Got fast charging and all the glimmer.

OnePlus didn't get rid of the alert slider. It just was not on the 10T. The only reason they deleted it from that phone was to make room internally for the advanced 125 watt charging. Internally, there wasn't room for both. In fact, OnePlus publicly stated that it was not a permanent deletion but, people freaked out anyway. Furthermore, the alert slider was present on the 10 Pro and the 11. Much to do about nothing over one oddball variant device. LOL
I'd also like to state that OnePlus never had problems with their software. The problem was with Android 12. In fact, Android 12 was an awful operating system and it wreaked havoc with many devices from several manufacturers. Unfortunately, Android 12 came out at the same time that they revamped oxygen OS and gave it several color OS features. Instead of blaming Google for the issues with Android 12, people misdirected the blame to OnePlus. At the end of the day, it was never a problem with their software. When Android 13 rolled out, their software ran flawlessly.

Now, he's probably going to review OnePlus's sibling and praise it a lot. But, guess what? It's not available in North America and won't impact Samsung sales in this part of the world

At this point, it seems like MKBHD only does paid reviews. Most of the reviews are at surface level and I would definitely not make a purchase decision based on them.

He probably isn't reviewing it because he doesn't have enough time to. The S24 series are going to be purchased by WAY way way more people, and the Vision pro is way more interesting than any phone iteration. Hence, the last 5 tech videos on his channel have been on the 2 above products. Maybe Oneplus should wait until February or March to announce/release their phones (kind of like Google does with the Pixel series, i.e. waiting a month for the Apple hype to die down).

The seperate chips and modes on this phone to make it fast and more improved in so many aspects is much more innovative than the gimmick AI features and flat screen display on Samsung 24 ultra. I just got my new OnePlus 12 and I have to say OnePlus did a very great work on OnePlus 12....I have used OnePlus smartphone since 3, 5T , 7 pro , 10 pro , Nord 2T and I have to say the display Is way way way better in new OnePlus 12.... the display is smooth like Butter....❤❤ the Battery backup is so good...and Camera , performance is just lit💥💥... and the haptic feedback is another level

Sorry but this is a much larger upgrade over the 11 than the iPhone 15 Pro is over the 14 pro.
I already know MKBHD has bias, but i still appreciate his reviews. It's not always about his opinion, but the differences from year to year or brand to brand. I'll accept this as a review, but i do wish he would have at least given it a 5 minute low production video.
With the offer of 512/16gb version for entry price, $100 trade in value for ANY phone, and now having basically no feature downsides, I really think it is the best Oneplus since their original "smartphone killers". Also, they keep their value better that anything except iPhones, so you can sell your OP 11 for like 500 still making the total cost to upgrade $200. With all that, you can spend $200 ever year and have always top of the line phones, or keep the same phone for 4 years and spend $800 to get a new one and not get anything for your old one since it has lost all it's value. Choice is clear for me. Samsung, in my opinion, make slightly better phones, but it is so darn close now. Oneplus is basically the only android phone you can do this with.
I'm with everyone here. Oneplus pretty much upgraded damn near every area of the phone. Better brighter display, better battery, better cameras with an added periscope lense and finally 4k on the front camera, video out, returned wireless charging, and hell even giving you $100 off for an old and dead phone.
