10:40 - THANK YOU. The homogenization of Google's app icons was a huge step backwards. It always takes me a few extra seconds to find the right app if more than 2 of them are grouped together in the same folder.
Why don't more people complain about this? I've hated those icons for years now. You'd think that someone at Google would have had the balls to speak up about this horrible user design choice.
For the wireless charging speed issue, there's a setting under "Wireless charging settings -> Quiet charging" in the OnePlus 12 which is on by default and has a description of "This wireless charger runs at a lower power level to minimize noise." So that's likely why it wasn't doing the full 50W charging speed.
Most people don't really care about the speed of the wireless charging, so I think that is why it's on by default and for the advanced users, they will find it in settings on their own
1080p being the common max resolution? Because I watch my videos at 360p-480p because of my low data plan. I don't got enough to watch 720p or anything more lol
I'm a Pixel boy now a days, but back in the day I had a OnePlus 5 or 6 (can't remember which one. I'm leaning towards 5) and I loved it. It was rock solid for so long. Not that they ever left the phone conversation, but I'm glad to see them getting talked about more again, and these phones, although not perfect, do seem to be a return to form based on my experience with them
I don’t understand only testing a phones battery life at 480p 200nits when it has a much higher resolution and claimed brightness, it’s fine to include these settings to show how far you can push it but the main test should be using the phone they way that people will actually use it.

9:40 Wireless charging goes from AC to DC to high frequency AC. This HF AC over the coil causes a changing magnetic field which is picked up by the receiver coil. The receiver generates HF AC which gets rectified to the charging voltage.
@defeqel6537 It really depends. That's why I was disappointed that he didn't mention what the loss would be. There are losses simply from the allignment of the phone to the charger, losses in the different switching steps, and also the kind of circuit used to create the HF AC. I dont think droplets on your screen causes the same issue as having the phone submerged. The droplets are individually touching the screen. Also a stylus is obviously easier for a touch screen to register than fingers especially under adverse conditions.
After some years now with a OnePlus 9 I can say that hardware-wise it's been absolutely excellent, my big issues are with software and vendor-lock in. OxygenOS is simply not good. Basic features don't exist like removing the Google Discover page from the home screen, configuring drawer icons/labels separately from the home screen, removing settings toggles you don't need from the status bar (minimum is 11!), and there is an ongoing bug for many years now which makes alarms randomly not work on battery because for some reason the Clock app is not excluded (and can't be excluded!) from being put to sleep by the OS to conserve power. As for vendor lock-in, this is something I only noticed recently as my peripherals have worn out. Fast charge doesn't work on third party cables for some reason, not sure if that has changed in the newer versions but it sure is annoying.
You are probably using a spec of USB C cable that's lower rating and quality. Make sure you buy a spec that is good enough, not all cables are the same
still haven't seen a review that shows off the ir blaster, i wanna know if I could control TVs like I could with my galaxy s5 back in the day. changing channels and turning up the volume in any restaurant was the coolest thing 13 year old me ever did
Got the 12. The 80w charging is insane, 100% in 30 minutes from 10% and it only eats 40% of the battery in a day for me. I max out the 120hz all the time and have it at full resolution in high performance mode. I don't think I manage my battery health well, so maybe that'll need to be replaced in 3 years, but I'm okay with that. This performance is great!
Yeah 50W wireless charging is awesome, been using that for my vivo phone in the past couple of months! :D Takes about 40-50 minutes to fully charge a 5000mAh from below 10%.
This might be a dumb question but if I buy a one plus phone can i take my Verizon sim card from my Samsung and put it in the oneplus without changing anything
I felt every bit of Linus' vibe about Googles garbage icons. One of the richest companies in the world and their management team, or teams are still too stupid to listen when their UX/UI team says "Making all of the icons look the same is bad". Pure incompetence.
I got the one plus 12, upgraded from OnePlus 7 pro and honestly apart from a few UI annoyances (mostly because it's changed from my old OP7 pro) I am super happy with the phone. Fyi just tried the zoom to take a pic of the moon and it looks amazing. So I would 100% recommend, the main thing I miss is the pop up front camera.
@@sir.gooseington6488 yup totally felt the same, and I still have the phone with me. But sadly m so used to the 12 now, that it's just collecting dust now
Same. Still love my 7 Pro and the pop-up camera (or rather the lack of a camera hole in the display), but when my battery died for the fourth time in one day yesterday I ordered the 12 😅 I'm not sure about the look with the huge camera array and the centered front camera, but I still preferred it to the Pixel 8 Pro (and the S24 Ultra, but I don't like the Samsung UI anyway) 🤷
@@CatharinaGoedecke honestly all the same issues I had when I was getting the phone aswell, especially the big cameras at the back but now I don't even think about them. I do really like this phone alot more, with UI quirks I just learn to work around them when I find them.
Nah Oneplus is done for me, I love my 5T and upgraded to an op9 when it was released. I got so annoyed by software bugs over the next 6 months that I sold it and bought a year old Samsung S21. Biggest nope was that every image I've got on the phone took space up 2x, was a common bug and killed the reason why I got the 256gb version. The hardware can be nice, but if they can't get the software under control its not usable.
Telephoto long distance zoom is way more useful and entertaining than ultra-wide lens. 10x Optical on my S23 Ultra still blows my mind considering its a camera I can fit in my pocket.
Ive been using a ulephone armor 22 for about a year now and its been a perfect experience. The cameras aren't amazing but they work well enough for me and the ir nightvision is incredibly handy for me. Personally I would loved to see some of these niche androids reviewed since it was only $340 american for an incredibly tough, super well preforming phone. As a network engineer its not only a personal communication device but in a pinch can be a useful tool.
In terms of charging, as someone mentioned there's the quiet mode charging, it is generally on that at the start. I have the Find X3 Pro and it has the same charger. There's also a way to "add" more ram to the device in the settings, it may be slightly slower spec ram but it uses designated storage space for an extra 8-12Gb of Ram
The OnePlus 12 sounds like a more cost-effective option for those on a budget but still interested in high-end specs. I'm not a huge fan of the decreased storage and camera capabilities though.
Bought 12r as my office phone. Cmera isn't bad outdoors. Getting 2day battery life. Screen gets very bright when compared to my Pixel 7. I'd say 12R is the best buy if you already have a very good phone and just want a second phone to handle your daily works. The 5G speed is 300Mbps more than what I get with Pixel 7 in the same area in the same network. Although it isn't the same Oxygen OS I loved in my OP7 Pro, it's still buttery smooth and we'll optimised. Except that the launcher is too basic to do anything. Rest all it's a solid all rounder.
I have a Oneplus 10 Im very happy with. Charge speed using wire is insanely fast. Good price and amazing hardware. Its the same snapdragon as a top samsung, and samshit only sell Exynos here anyway.

I play genshin impact on the phone all the time and watch UA-cam more than I probably should, but all in all 10/10 would buy again. My big itch is the battery so when I found out I can get 3 days worth of battery if I stopped playing genshin during my breaks I was so happy made my friend ask about my sanity lol. You know you have a good friend when they ask that lol🎉
I'm still rocking my original OnePlus 7 Pro. Though that 12 looks mighty tempting, I just can't get over having the little camera bump on the screen. If they had a model without the selfie camera, I think it'd be a match made in heaven.
I like the corrected audio for the RAM spec :) I see you! Even if I'm confused about why the title/thumbnail are no longer in the video... I assume the lawyers made you cut it lest people start thinking it's fun to try out that little directed energy weapon on your hands?
Just replaced my Note 9 with a 1+12, pretty much loving it so far. Just wish the Photos app wasn't just basically Google Photos with a couple extras on it. I just want my local stuff in the native gallery app like every other phone I've had, and Google Photos for going thru older stuff in cloud storage.
I've been super satisfied with the 1+ 12 especially since I was able to get a discount on the purchase. My one gripe is the SoC is not as optimized as some older chips for mobile games so I've seen Pokemon Go (and no other apps, although I've seen reports of others) crashing from time to time. It's not often enough to be unplayable but it can be annoying. The Samsung S24 ultra also suffers from this so hopefully this improves as time goes on.
I sent mine back for a refund, the clock on the lock screen and the notification shade is unusable because oneplus made a stupid decision to make the hour digits deep red when they are '1'. Everyone is complaining about it, I went though the OnePlus support channels and this was the reply I received: `I would like to kindly inform you that the red number 1 is a tribute to our brand, it's part of OnePlus logo. It always been red for number one in OnePlus clocks. Therefore, you can rest assured the clock is not broken. This is a default feature and it cannot be changed.` My current phone is a OnePlus 3T, and it does not have an unreadable red clock. Why no-one mentions this in reviews is beyond me as being able to quickly tell the time is basic functionality. Community posted workarounds do not work. I'm not rooting my phone and breaking my banking apps and google pay to try and fix it myself.
Bought the 12. Love it so far. Real life photos are better than the Pixel 6 Pro I came from. Battery life has been solid and the fast charging is awesome. And man I can't tell you how much I missed that alert slider!
Wait, a phone that understands rain?!?!???!!!! You buried the lead on this story! I haven't been this happy since my I could use my Nokia with gloves. About time they made a phone that is useful in, you know, weather.
12R seems like a genuine return to form for OnePlus esp with their 100 dollar trade in discount and is no brainer option for people who need a phone sub 500

Good vid but the sound department. Where u guys sleeping or??? There is a lot of echo in this vid
Keep upthe vids boyzzzz
Make sure you buy a spec that is good enough, not all cables are the same
still haven't seen a review that shows off the ir blaster, i wanna know if I could control TVs like I could with my galaxy s5 back in the day. changing channels and turning up the volume in any restaurant was the coolest thing 13 year old me ever did
It can.
1:30 who watched UA-cam at 480p (and 200nits)? 😂
Who's the random voice at 3:23 xD
Yeah 50W wireless charging is awesome, been using that for my vivo phone in the past couple of months! :D Takes about 40-50 minutes to fully charge a 5000mAh from below 10%.
Never shave again
Linus really needs to grow back his beard. It's crazy just how big of a boost it was to his looks
This might be a dumb question but if I buy a one plus phone can i take my Verizon sim card from my Samsung and put it in the oneplus without changing anything
Yes
It's not a dumb question, I'm also a Samsung (A32) user who wants to upgrade his to the OnePlus (12) . And all my contacts are in the Sim card
3:23 That “TWELVE” came through really strong 😂😂
Still rocking OP7TP, I don't want to lose my pop up camera 😂. This poor battery is shot though
Now if only somebody was good friends with the people at dbrand and could ask them nicely to make a grip case for the thing... 🤔😊
I've had my 12 for a while now, and while not perfect Aqua Touch has been an absolute game changer. Love this phone.
I literally ignored this video 4 times in my suggestion thought it was some old video of linus until I saw the upload time in 5th time 😂
Telephoto long distance zoom is way more useful and entertaining than ultra-wide lens.
I took one ultrawide photo to see what it was about, and never took another.
The OnePlus 12 sounds like a more cost-effective option for those on a budget but still interested in high-end specs. I'm not a huge fan of the decreased storage and camera capabilities though.
Linus without a beard couldn't possibly be that differe--AAAHHHH IT'S DIFFERENT PUT IT BACK, PUT IT BACK
Bought 12r as my office phone.
IR BLASTER YES!!! you don’t know how much I miss having a remote always with me for any tv!!!
YOOO that LTT linus deepfake is GOOOODD, happy retiring linus
I just got my OnePlus 12 a few days ago to replace my aging iPhone 12 mini. Loving it so far.
Update?
That writing with a wet screen comes in handy for all the british and dutch people
I have a Oneplus 10 Im very happy with. Charge speed using wire is insanely fast. Good price and amazing hardware. Its the same snapdragon as a top samsung, and samshit only sell Exynos here anyway.
I would have never guessed a sponsor could make me this happy.
I've been preoccupied moving into a new house, and while I was gone...
LINUS SHAVED!!!!
4k 60FPShz!!! Where is Linus? Kyle! where the hex did you lock him up, in which dungeon ?
Would love blond Linus back. Can we get the spiked hair aswell?
i swear, every time i saw a shaved Linus i thought it's an old video that got recommended to me. Had to do a double take on the title and the upload time to make sure.
The first LTT video with real beardless Linus! (not counting the WAN Show)
got mine in 16/512 configuration and seriously... this is probably THE best OP phone by far (switched from Samsung)... last OP device i've had was 6T and that was an awesome phone.. feels like every phone that came after it was mehhh... i can honestly say, the 12 was a great return to their roots of a "flagship killer" device! for the price.. you can't beat it! WELCOME BACK ONEPLUS!
The 7 Pro/7T Pro was pretty great, I just upgraded to it (7 Pro, bought an used one) and I love it.
May not be the latest phone but it's more than enough for me.
Running LineageOS with stock camera app hand-ported by me.
@@VDavid003the only thing stopping from switching to LineageOS on my OP7T is not being able to use the Stock camera app. Is there anyway I could get the OnePlus camera app? Is the process too complicated? What resources should I look at?
@@Re_Panda I still have some bugs to iron out (low light hdr crashes for some reason, mode switching crashes in some cases (can work around by switching to a different mode first), and 48mp mode doesn't work properly)
I plan on releasing it as a magisk module once I fix all the bugs I can
The process is a bit complicated (editing smali in the apk, copying libs from stock vendor, and hex editing camera HAL) so I wouldn't recommend doing it by hand
@@VDavid003 that's great that you are going release it at a later date. I do not have the knowledge to do it anyway the best I can do is follow a guide. Thank you for the response though
I love my OnePlus 12 - bought on pre-order. Amazing battery life and speed and smoothness of programs. Great bang for the buck! Love the latest version of Oxygen OS too.
I have the OnePlus 12r and I love it. The battery is amazing! I was so surprised and happy when. I used it for a full day and fell asleep and woke up the next day with 67 percent battery.
Wait, what was he talking about? Sorry, was concentrated on his new face
I always have to triple-check this is a new video, Since its been so long since he's been clean-shaven!
Damm did linus voice over this btw congrats on getting new intern
On the 12r right now with 256gb storage. Fingers crossed its a keeper
Update?
I've been super satisfied with the 1+ 12 especially since I was able to get a discount on the purchase. My one gripe is the SoC is not as optimized as some older chips for mobile games so I've seen Pokemon Go (and no other apps, although I've seen reports of others) crashing from time to time. It's not often enough to be unplayable but it can be annoying. The Samsung S24 ultra also suffers from this so hopefully this improves as time goes on.
Yes pokemon go was crashing super hard. I lost most of the PvPs and raid pokemon because the game crashed.
I sent mine back for a refund, the clock on the lock screen and the notification shade is unusable because oneplus made a stupid decision to make the hour digits deep red when they are '1'. Everyone is complaining about it, I went though the OnePlus support channels and this was the reply I received:
`I would like to kindly inform you that the red number 1 is a tribute to our brand, it's part of OnePlus logo. It always been red for number one in OnePlus clocks. Therefore, you can rest assured the clock is not broken. This is a default feature and it cannot be changed.`
My current phone is a OnePlus 3T, and it does not have an unreadable red clock.
Linus over here like the "Old Man Yells at Cloud" meme.
listening to the speaker test on a OnePlus 12 gave me a great impression of the actual sound i must say
Somehow Linus is less funny and chill without the beard 😂 no offensive ❤
The charging on this phone is INSANE and you can use 100w
I got my 12r for about $390, in my opinion it's not bad, I'm currently using it to write this comment!
So glad they bought back the notification slider.
Wait, a phone that understands rain?!?!???!!!! You buried the lead on this story! I haven't been this happy since my I could use my Nokia with gloves. About time they made a phone that is useful in, you know, weather.
You get UFS 4.0 in the 12R if you get the 256gb storage. Samsung (storage manufacturer) doesn't make a 128gb chip.
Nope, they're all 3.1 on any version of the 12r
We're getting closer and closer to shaved Linus on the main channel, not including sponsor segments. I give it 2 more videos lol.
fuck we ran out of bearded linus backlog
The way that Jono smiled at the DBrand sponsor blond makes me think that Jono is either a Dbrand investor or on Dbrand's payroll to mess with Linus
Thank god the OnePlus Ace 3 is UFS 4.0, can't wait to get that phone next week
Every time I see Linus sans beard I'm like "hey who's the new guy?"
DYE THE HAIR!!! DYE THE HAIR!!! DYE THE HAIR!!! Come on Linus, you can even host WAN in the Duke Nukem outfit.
The 12 is amazing you haven't even talked about the feedback motor.
See Linus go from 25 with a beard to 35 with the smooth lean face.
"first" "Main" LTT video with Beardless Linus
12R seems like a genuine return to form for OnePlus esp with their 100 dollar trade in discount and is no brainer option for people who need a phone sub 500
