I am a PES fan because I love realism in games, I want to feel the game..For me, PES 14 looked so realistic, yes, it had lots of problems, but it was so realistic...I love PES 16, it's acceptable unlike FIFA, but you know, still it has a lot of problems too.
I can't believe you didn't mention how Konami has completely botched the rosters to this years game. It took them over a month after release to implement updated rosters and even now, the rosters are still not fully updated, unless you do them yourself, which I refuse to do. I've had this game since launch day, U.S., and I still haven't started a ML. I want to create the Bundesliga but can't out of fear a data pack will mess everything up. Other than that, everything else is pretty good. The keepers and refs are not perfect but they're not game breakers to me personally. Hoping they add some more generic stadiums whenever they add the Maracanã.
It's the best PES to date, but too easy. I agree with your point on GK being dreadful, but through ball is overpowered too. I prefer FIFA, but EA need to make an overhaul too. A hybrid of both would be great!
ok here is what i think...been playing fifa since 1994 pes since 1999 ...so i know them both...This year pes graphics is excellent gameplay is improved...also the option to import images has solved the visuals of the teams issue for ps4 users...Problems that need to be solved in next game ofc are.... Online Online Online ...Fix it....Give people a chance to choose same rated teams in online seasons...we are sick of playing vs Bayern in 98/100 games no matter what team we get...Secondly give us a preview of the connection before the game starts and let us quit if we think this is already laggy...3d add an auction house in MyClub cause i want to buy a specific player in a specific spot and custom my own formation than playing lottery ...thank your all ...peace and love
pes 13 is still one of my favorites. I believe pes 15 was much better than crap 14. hoping for more stadiums. Idk why but there wasn't tunnel camera and stadium entrance clips in 15. Idk could thay be changed or edited? just a little thing that fustrates me about 15
i think one of the best part about 13 is that u add those scenes with the manager sitting at his desk and a player complaining about playing time, as well as like the background showing the players training
Chris Q I just liked the gameplay. It was the PES where you had most control of every aspect of your team. The through ball spamming was crazy online but when you learned how to defend against it, it was the most playable PES of them all.
I miss all the immersion and cutscene in pes 2013. I don't understand why konami removed all of that. I wish pes 2017 gonna have manager cutscenes and stadium editor.
im thinking about trading my fifa for pes but I have two concerns. 1. how big of an issue is licensing? is downloading the stuff easy and time efficient or is it too bothersome? Is this an available feature on the xbox one? 2. is the online really that much of a turn off? what game modes are there and is it overall a good online experience over fifa?
I always feel PES gets higher grades than FIFA, not because PES is a better game, but because it has improved more over the last year(s). I do see a point there, but I still believe FIFA is a lot better than PES. At this rate PES might overtake FIFA in like 2 or 3 years. But, my opinion is, that FIFA still deserves a higher grade than PES. 8.5 for FIFA and 7.3 for PES imo. I haven't really played PES 2016, but I've played 2015 and I didn't like it. I gave it a try, because everyone was so hyped, but I was really dissapointed. When playing with friends, we were constantly laughing about horror tackles, terrible refereeing decisions, weird animations and just the lack of many features/teams . However, it being quite funny, that's not really a good thing. Furthermore, I found many of the goals look exactly the same (especially long shots and 1 on 1 situations with the goalkeeper). Also, I didn't like the fact that sometimes I played 60 minutes without having at least one shot in the game. And when you do create something, instantly the AI is going to play better. It's kinda weird. FIFA however, is very solid. Always fun gameplay, maybe a little bit less in FIFA 16 than in FIFA 15, but I've played some amazing games in FIFA 16 (4-4s, 3-3s) so far. Also, I'm quite the career mode enthousiast. In short, I absolutely hated PES 2015 master league and I loved FIFA 15 career mode. FIFA 16 is even a little bit better, most times, a little bit less action than last year, but still enough. It takes some time to get used to, maybe even some changes in sliders (I always put the sprint speed and acceleration of the AI down and still Robben gets overtaken by Schweinsteiger on legendary) but the new passing and shooting system are really good. Add the content (teams, stadiums, depth, online) and the better graphics and FIFA is the still the big winner for me this year and the king of football games.
I have both games and players like lewandowski and zlatan ronaldo get out muscled far to easily. Pes 16 does have its flaws especially goal keepers but the actual game play is far superior to fifa 16. Players in fifa 16 can't even trap the ball, far to many interceptions passing is no where near pes.

longshots are op goalkeepers are not coming out when needed...everyone can do the bycicle kick from 30 yards out there are 6 players in the wall when shooting free kicks BTW I still don't know how to jump with the free kick wall. there should be more fouls I rarely get tackled in a game lob and kicking the ball out with your defense the ball movement looks weird curve shots look like a beach ball some basic skills are unefective... 7.7 IMO
In my opinion Pes 2011 was the best (gameplay wise). Pes 2013 was great aswell but 2011 was better in my opinion, but I like the progress konami is making with new features they add every year and stuff, and I do see Pes overtaking Fifa in the next year or two, because Fifa don't improve pretty much any game modes besides Fut, I mean like pro clubs is probably the best game mode(or at least has the potential to be) but it hasn't changed in like 4-5 years. As for pes I think it could be amazing but some things kinda annoy me, like chances of signing on ML, you should be able to negotiate more freely instead of having "chances" when you try to negotiate. And team spirit shouldn't be a thing on ML but I do like pes, but for now i'd probably stick to fifa.

the game is far too easy even on superstar. i play with level support 1 because i dont have the time to get used to manual passing. but even then it should be a challenged on the highest difficulty. the ai is terrible at attacking, there is no real threat from them and it is quite questionable that pes 6 had a way better ai than pes 2016. the defending from the ai is often shambolic, the middle is too often exposed and there seems to be no real defending line. i cant play more than 3 games in a row before getting angry at all those obvious flaws the game has.
My personal preference would be for the game to be marketed and promoted by people who are capable of speaking actual facts as opposed to, best case - half assumptions based on them not really being told anything about the game by the actual developers and thus not being able to resist extrapolating from the meagre crumbs of second hand info they ARE given, or worst case - barefaced lying directly into the faces of paying customers. Sort that out and everything will be hunky dorey.
If KONAMI was smart, they would purchase the MLS license. With the sport growing in America, it can only do wonders for sales. They do need to dearly upgrade the goalkeeping and MUST fix the fouls.

I think an 8.3 is still too high a score for PES 2016. There's so much to gameplay fixes need to make and the PES Team is not doing anything to correct them. The CPU gets away with murder tackles and no fouls. Not enough fouls are called. The keepers are simply poor and make keepers in FIFA look miles ahead. The ML is so boring now without the training they had in 2013. Basically what I'm saying the game is not enjoyable in single player and absolutely horrid online.
+That Guy if you use the Rival Team settings in Edit mode you will feel the cpu's agression in the derbies. When I play with Inter vs Juventus in Master League I can hardly get out of my side on the pitch. They tackle me all the time and give me no time on the ball

PES 2016 could be the best football game if Konami get things right.. it's all already in the game, but the tactics are just off.. you need to edits all the team's tactics by yourself to get a decent master league. The referees are a joke, the games need more fouls. We also want to see more errors by the AI (pass, shot, everything) to make it more realistic (fifa has this right).. so overall it is a good game, but until now, PES 2013 is still the best football sim game to get the best football experience.
i had that one time that i felt that pes is the best when i went for man u to inter and from having an all stars team to a one man team and i played against juve and the first think they did is to tackle my main man and got him injured which lead to then winning the match and the next time i played then i beat the shit out of them i won 4-1
Weird that you haven't mentioned the commentary in the game, which imo is catastrophic.. The only thing they changed was the main commentator which is in no way an improvement over Jon Champion (I actually like Jon Champion more).. They constantly repeat their lines and my god doe Jim Beglin sound boring! Anyway, agree with your review..
TTB... first, I suggest you have an outline for a review script listing all your points so you don't forget any if you really wanna do am in depth review of any game. For me, you overlook some other crucial things in game mechanics such as sub par ball physics. any and all shots are just weird. Fifa on the other hand has this down and whats more important in football that the ball itself lol. secondly, even if the gameplay as a whole is better, apart from the fouls and the keepers diving extremely weird. the game is still not convincing enough for me. Say all you want about fifa but the truth is beyond the bs on the field and the ridiculous legendary gameplay, there is something in there that makes the game more believable when you play. the atmosphere, the smooth transitions in play, the versatility of the ai and what not all make it believable even though not true to reality. Pes on the other hand has this feel of a game still. those two things for me are integral to making a solid game of football and Pes lacks a lot in them. Fifa has its flaws no doubt but I don't believe either is better this year. they are both let downs in my honest opinion fifa 14 was better than what we have here on both fronts
oh yeah and they need to do something about the controls, it's so not intuitive and clunky if I'm being honest. it also lacks depth. football is more than just what pes has to offer in terms of controls, fifa is way higher on depth of control but even that game doesn't do enough. there are still some things the cpu does on fifa that I've never seen players do so yeah.
What versatility on Fifa???All teams play the same....Pass,pass,pass....There is versatility on Pes,Man Utd play long balls,The mid table teams sit back and hit you on the counter,Some low rating teams just defend for 90mins and make it very hard for you to Score....Football is all about gameplay

the crowds in Pes look like shit, the crowds in FIFA and especially NHL looks amazing and makes the game incredibly imersive as they responds to goals and calls quite realistic, however the players and refs in FIFA and NHL looks like shit while the players in pes looks amazing. this sucks, i just want a great single game with all of the licenses to every team, player and tournament with realistic crowds and detailed players with great gameplay, maybe 2K games should come in here as NBA2k16 was amazing, incredible graphics with the most detailed stadium and crowds ive ever seen, with all of the teams and famous players with the best and most realistic gameplay ive ever tested. and the ultimate career mode that made every other sports games career mode look like complete shit, you built your own player from the ground up saints row 4 style(or scan your face with a camera) and started at highschool with complete cutscenes that responded to everything you did, and as you got better colleges with talent scouts that came and saw you play and recruited you, you could choose what school you wanted also complete with cutscenes the career mode had custom cutscenes for everything you did, it is insane how much content nba 2k16 has and its free for ps+ this month. but im not a basketball player or a fan and i dont follow the sport at all, i only know the name of 1 basketball player(michael jordan) and only know the name of 1 team(L.A Lakers) so i didnt like the gameplay, loved everything else especially the cutscens. with hockey and soccer i know almost every team in champions league and many of the other leagues, and almost every team in NHL and other leagues, and i know the name of many players in both sports as i love them both. so to have a FIFA2k17 and NHL2k17 would be a dream come true for me with every license for every team & player
The Ball physics look weird(I liked it in PES11 better), Keepers are crap, Referee's are crap. Other than that the game feels more realistic than fifa. I would give PES 7.7

The way how a.i score,a.i should be more agressive when you play derbies,more broadcast feel and gk a little bit better and i we have best pes

PES 2016 could be the best football game if Konami get things right.. it's all already in the game, but the tactics are just off.. you need to edits all the team's tactics by yourself to get a decent master league. The referees are a joke, the games need more fouls. We also want to see more errors by the AI (pass, shot, everything) to make it more realistic (fifa has this right).. so overall it is a good game, but until now, PES 2013 is still the best football sim game to get the best football experience.
i had that one time that i felt that pes is the best when i went for man u to inter and from having an all stars team to a one man team and i played against juve and the first think they did is to tackle my main man and got him injured which lead to then winning the match
and the next time i played then i beat the shit out of them i won 4-1
Weird that you haven't mentioned the commentary in the game, which imo is catastrophic.. The only thing they changed was the main commentator which is in no way an improvement over Jon Champion (I actually like Jon Champion more).. They constantly repeat their lines and my god doe Jim Beglin sound boring! Anyway, agree with your review..
TTB... first, I suggest you have an outline for a review script listing all your points so you don't forget any if you really wanna do am in depth review of any game.
For me, you overlook some other crucial things in game mechanics such as sub par ball physics. any and all shots are just weird. Fifa on the other hand has this down and whats more important in football that the ball itself lol.
secondly, even if the gameplay as a whole is better, apart from the fouls and the keepers diving extremely weird. the game is still not convincing enough for me. Say all you want about fifa but the truth is beyond the bs on the field and the ridiculous legendary gameplay, there is something in there that makes the game more believable when you play. the atmosphere, the smooth transitions in play, the versatility of the ai and what not all make it believable even though not true to reality. Pes on the other hand has this feel of a game still.
those two things for me are integral to making a solid game of football and Pes lacks a lot in them. Fifa has its flaws no doubt but I don't believe either is better this year. they are both let downs in my honest opinion fifa 14 was better than what we have here on both fronts
oh yeah and they need to do something about the controls, it's so not intuitive and clunky if I'm being honest. it also lacks depth. football is more than just what pes has to offer in terms of controls, fifa is way higher on depth of control but even that game doesn't do enough. there are still some things the cpu does on fifa that I've never seen players do so yeah.
What versatility on Fifa???All teams play the same....Pass,pass,pass....There is versatility on Pes,Man Utd play long balls,The mid table teams sit back and hit you on the counter,Some low rating teams just defend for 90mins and make it very hard for you to Score....Football is all about gameplay

the crowds in Pes look like shit, the crowds in FIFA and especially NHL looks amazing and makes the game incredibly imersive as they responds to goals and calls quite realistic, however the players and refs in FIFA and NHL looks like shit while the players in pes looks amazing.
this sucks, i just want a great single game with all of the licenses to every team, player and tournament with realistic crowds and detailed players with great gameplay, maybe 2K games should come in here as NBA2k16 was amazing, incredible graphics with the most detailed stadium and crowds ive ever seen, with all of the teams and famous players with the best and most realistic gameplay ive ever tested.
and the ultimate career mode that made every other sports games career mode look like complete shit, you built your own player from the ground up saints row 4 style(or scan your face with a camera) and started at highschool with complete cutscenes that responded to everything you did, and as you got better colleges with talent scouts that came and saw you play and recruited you, you could choose what school you wanted also complete with cutscenes the career mode had custom cutscenes for everything you did, it is insane how much content nba 2k16 has and its free for ps+ this month.
but im not a basketball player or a fan and i dont follow the sport at all, i only know the name of 1 basketball player(michael jordan) and only know the name of 1 team(L.A Lakers) so i didnt like the gameplay, loved everything else especially the cutscens.
with hockey and soccer i know almost every team in champions league and many of the other leagues, and almost every team in NHL and other leagues, and i know the name of many players in both sports as i love them both.
so to have a FIFA2k17 and NHL2k17 would be a dream come true for me with every license for every team & player

The Ball physics look weird(I liked it in PES11 better), Keepers are crap, Referee's are crap. Other than that the game feels more realistic than fifa.
