Yet I must admit I'm very frustrated with PES' AI this year; the PC mods show that there's no excuse for such shoddy and repetitive gameplay. Konami really need to sort the AI out.
I agree, using your defenders to track runners and stop low crosses at the front post is very simple. But that creates another problem: the AI isn't enough of a challenge. Low crossing isn't the only problem either; wingers don't use enough skill, strikers and midfielders rarely shoot outside the box and AI defensive decisions can sometimes make it too easy to score. Yet I still think it's the best football game ever made.
FIFA will always be bigger than PES, no matter what Konami do. From a gameplay perspective PES plays a better game of football, which is what matters to me.
PES transfer fees kinda sums up the game, it's stuck somewhere in 2010. I mean presentation, menus, commentary wouldn't even be good enough for an indie game. Anyone from Fiverr could come up with better designs in 10 minutes... Graphically it's a mixed bag as well. While player models look great (they always did, EA just can't get it look like humans for any game they make, likeFIFA, NBA, Madden. Models just look weird) in game cam, the crowd in PES looks like FIFA 06, so pixelated and dead. PES gameplay is still ahead of FIFA no doubts but at the same time it's very unresponsive and AI is just terrible. I can bet they will mess up the gameplay while fixing AI as well like they always do.

I'd have to disagree about the graphics. Player models, you're absolutely right. They are better and more realistic than FIFA, although some of the more famous faces look weird. I think both grasses look stunning. The one thing I have to give an advantage for to FIFA is the kits. They look like they are actually made of textile instead of being seemingly solid in PES. The lighting is better in PES though. Really brings in the atmosphere. Otherwise, both games look very good. Gameplay: PES all the way. It feels amazing. The pass animations are great. The part I like more about FIFA is the fluidity in the change of directions. It feels a little bit "angular" in PES at times. The presentations isn't a big deal but it feels like it wouldn't take that much effort to make it look and feel better. For the menus and overlays at least.
Let’s be honest, most people aren’t very gifted at football and therefore have no idea what makes a realistic game. The ones who do all realise pes is so far ahead. Also, most gamers are sad acts who care about menu screens and career modes. That’s why fifa is more popular
Biggest dissapointment on Pes this year was removal of D2's. Cant believe you didnt mention that. It took a huge chunk of realism out of ML and its unforgivable. I thought they will add fake D2's to every new league but instead they removed the ones that were there! Now only french and english leagues have relegations/promotions. Ridiculous! As for FIFA - they might have not add much to Career mode, but overall experience is vastly improved, thanks to Champions League and new league licenses. I mean - when you play Premier League or La Liga, they have almost all stadiums from these countries! Its huge advantage! Most likely Serie A and Bundesliga will follow next year. How good career mode will be having almost all major european stadiums and different atmosphere on them? Its amazing. Yes, gameplay still is slightly better on PES, but FIFA is constantly moving forward while PES add one thing and removes two

PES definitely feels more like real football but i just prefer the feel of FIFA at least for console. Its all preference but FIFA feels more fluid to me this year than PES. Might mean it’s a little faster but i dont mind that, im used to playing NHL which is way faster than both games. Plus I like online as well and PES online just sucks so FIFA. If u want PES buy it on PC because being able to mod will add all licensed leagues, about 8 other stadiums and a whole host of other stuff.
For me personally superior gameplay, graphics & freedom of customisation of PES offers absolutely trumps FIFA’s superior online / ultimate team modes that I never liked or played anyway
I don't understand the hate on Fifa, for me it's pretty solid. The presentation is just mind blowing you know with broadcast package and such. And the Journey is basically football movie with a lot of stars in it and it's playable. Gameplay wise is playable and so fun. The presentation on PES 19 is ugly, even previous series look better. I like the gameplay tho but it isn't enough. Fifa beat Pes in overall football gaming experience.
well pes 19 gets a update patch in end october it will probably then fixed with ai and then im sure pes 19 is better then fifa 19 i cant take fifa 19 gameplay and gamplan serious.
It really is personal opinion on what you like and I ended up getting both for different reasons. Gameplay wise pes is king and I've been playing fifa since 09 but if you love football and play in real life pes just has that realistic feel with every pass touch and build up it's beautiful when you understand the mechanics and that's something I can never get in fifa every game feels the same running down the wings quick 1, 2 passes constantly sprinting but non the less it's fun in it's own way but fifa just has presentation down to the core you see it and you feel like it's the real thing you're watching also online is much better than pes I can easily get into a game on fifa unlike pes but as a fan of football in real life I have no problem buying both this year you get the best of both
PES19 has so much potential, gameplay wise it’s much more realistic than FIFA19. Not just that you can actually feel the ball. The passing, shooting and running with it. I’m hoping with the AI patch at the end of the month can really set the gameplay apart. Like I said it has so much potential. They need to work on more errors from the AI in tackling, I can’t win penalties and hardly any free kicks, even though there are more this year than in previous it still needs adjusting. The thing letting PES down are game modes. Too much time on my club, which let’s face it will never catch up to ultimate team. See this is where they could really win one over on FIFA with a ML league mode online. Or offline. Just spend the whole year doing this game mode. Can you imagine you and a few of your mates not only going up against each other on the pitch but also off it with bidding wars on players. Maybe on the online you could add real money into ML transfer funds. Say 1£ = 10 million. £5 = 50 million. You can adjust it into your wage. Maybe add sponsorship deals back also. Fair review of both, I haven't bought a football game for about 5 years now, I'm thinking of getting one this year and have been debating which game I am more of of a pes fan but I do feel more like getting fifa just as you say more of a full package
At the end I think that you are right when you say that both games are great! It's a good thing to see that there are still people using their brains when they give an opinion. I personally enjoy the content of your videos and that's one of the main reasons. I used to play Fifa since fifa 2000 and then one day I decided to change to pes because the gameplay gave me a better feeling. I'm still playing pes and fifa sometimes both games are great for what they are. With developers as a developer I can say that normally those decisions about what do we do in projects are taken way above of the technology part and for me the developers team do their best. I love both games, I have started actually playing pes 2003 back in the day. Now I play fifa and Pes too, both are awesome and have their own pros and cons...Like in PES the realistic graphics but they do not have the right teams, emblems etc which you need to rely on SmOkE patches etc and pes has less arenas/stadiums wherein more repetitive of generic looking ones but a different name for each team; Fifa in the other hand have these details I love, flags waved in the crowd which makes the environment more hyped, the camera shaking after a goal, teams are available on set and over 70 stadiums which makes the product awesome. With all this said the only thing needed in these games is the PES 2012- PES 2013 feature when you can upload your own picture on a created player's face which gives you a legit feel that you yourself are in the game and can edit other player's faces with real pictures.
Fifa has stagnated, Pes has declined. Alot of Pes has gone backwards, additions have made things worse, things that needed looking at got neglected. 2019 is more of the same. Its the direction we have been headed in. AI has been complained about for years, it was better 10 years ago. They wait until its broke and theres a riot before patching it. It will work better, but still be terrible, but will be praised for improving. When they are just lowering the bar some more. They have done this with every part of the game. Thats why its in the state it is in.
Yea no im done with pes been buying them for 5 years now since 2014 and this is the end for me ,instead of making it a simulation soccer theyv made it rock em sock em soccer its veryyy arcade and passing movements always the same, power bar for passes doesnt matter nor where u aim,everythign plays very automatic, pes2019 seems like a huge step back even from 2016 actually where there were more outcomes ,speedy wingers mattered. Fifa19 has won this year and i dont see pes coming back next year until they go full sim and new graphic engine
Judging from the demo I agree that I'm not coming back to it after buying it for 5+ years. Not because it's more arcadey, in fact, I love the first touch pass so much. But the promises they keep giving us and with only a tweak to the game makes me feel like I'm d**ked around. I just can't give them that money any more. They can redo the menus, make more broadcast presentation, add the broadcast camera we've been asking, fix the annoying AI.. I like they've finally fixed the grass on the pitch but for now I'm not sold.

Been playin FIFA for many years but Im really done with stupid unrealistic gameplay and stupid AI. I used to try PES every year and get back to playing FIFA in routine but this year I haven't bought FIFA after I had tried the demo. Pes has improved so much this year to be fair. 👍🏻
Im not a fifa fan really, but FIFA smahed PES yet again. I had PES on release day, i got bored after few days. Fifa are far from perfect, but the entertainment value on fifa is so much more to do on fifa than pes.
I am not a pes or fifa fan. yeah i agree fifa players are fast looks like they got spring under their shoes but come on didn't you see how pes players sometimes move, dribble in a robotic way but yeah i must say that it is improving.. in pes 15,16,17 even 18 players are more robotic than 19 but as gameplay yes i prefer pes over fifa, it's more realistic, slow but fifa is fun...
I can't understand how people just play the CPU. That is not playing the game. Playing the game is playing vs another HUMAN opponent. PES has major positives (speed, gameplay, realism, feel), but that is why FIFA is the better game. The online experience is much better, and the feel/look of the game is still fantastic.
Out of the box without the MODS and the PES Universe additional licensing ... PES is sh#t. FIFA is lacking in gameplay, and some licensing, but FIFA is the better game. If FIFA and PES had a baby, it would be the best game.

Very lenient with some of your scores TTB. For example you say games modes severely lacking in PES but still give it 7.5 out of 10 for that category. As a PES fan (until now) fixing the AI 2 months after release, for a game that for most people has a shelf life of 12 months, is nowhere near good enough.

Pes only wins in one area, and that is the game play, but fifa wipes the floor with presentation and that makes fifa more enjoyable, I tend to play fifa for career mode and be a pro mode, but pes if im playing against a friend in same room.
Even with some of the frustrating faults it has I still think PES is better in terms of gameplay. I've enjoyed it more since the latest patch, I don't know if they've tweaked a few things but it feels a bit better. To be honest the best football game is PES 19 patch for PS2.

I would recommend both games but I like PES more, because it feels more fluid. One thing that annoys me is hat neither have done a particular good job at making a really realistic game, especially if you compare to other sport games. As usual I would say play Fifa online and PES offline.

My problem with PES is that the scripting makes it unplayable. At points in the games the game decides there's going to be a goal and there's nothing that can be done about it. Comebacks from nowhere, drastic momentum shifts, the ridiculous amount of last minute goals in every half. It even stops you changing playing to make sure there's a goal. If not for the scripting it's gameplay would be better.
Konami rushed released PES19 and by time patch comes out it will be 2 months since release. Thats not good enough. That said for all FIFAs sparkle I prefer PES on the pitch. The option files are outstanding as always so the "not having licenses" isnt really an issue. If you want the broadcast packages then youll need fifa.
I play um both, not arsed with menus, or presentation the game on the pitch playability is what matters and FIFA is shit same old same old shit and PES is superb playability.

Both games are enjoyable , both games have their problems aswell but with the issues PES has at the moment with poor AI , master league being broken and fast players running through treacle you really start seing it's problems so Fifa 19 edges it for me this year . Konami say they'll improve their game every year ........I'm still waiting .
Pes graphics r better from a far angle, i just want to know y their jerseys still get stuck to their bodies, w their hairs too. It doesn't move when running, just stagnant. Like in more recent years games have added that clothing and hair movement and i don't know whether it has an official name to it but it definitely adds a real feel to it.

I don't get the big deal with PES' transfer values. It's all relative to the economy of that game and, whilst values aren't huge, you've not got huge amounts to spend. What is annoying is how there is almost a clockwork reaction to the AI going behind. They'll immediately look to switch on and smash you and it doesn't feel organic. It leads to a lot of matches where you hold what you've got rather than push on for more.

PES 2019 transfer is really terrible, and FIFA 19 carrer mode is much better. FIFA 19 makes an an cool transfers, carrer mode, better cutscenes and better stories. FIFA 19 also need an improvement on FIFA 20 by having player carrer mode having his personal life, such as getting dated, married and start a family.
For me tis is 2nd most disappointed pes after pes 2014.Lack of league license or mediocre presentation never been an issue for me as long the gameplay is good. But tis year the ai & scripting issues totally ruined my gameplay.
Yeah I figured it was different from 2018. Champions league games are the most scripted and I find that any mention of a "David vs Goliath" game in the beginning would mean the goliath team will lose
Yea every time I score the Ai scores like not even 2 min later. In pes. That hasn't happened to me in fifa yet. And on pes I'll play high defensive line, then in transition they'll drop deep invite pressure when my defense is not set to deep defensive line. Tactics seem to not make a difference in pes.

PES definitely feels more like real football but i just prefer the feel of FIFA at least for console. Its all preference but FIFA feels more fluid to me this year than PES. Might mean it’s a little faster but i dont mind that, im used to playing NHL which is way faster than both games. Plus I like online as well and PES online just sucks so FIFA. If u want PES buy it on PC because being able to mod will add all licensed leagues, about 8 other stadiums and a whole host of other stuff.
For me personally superior gameplay, graphics & freedom of customisation of PES offers absolutely trumps FIFA’s superior online / ultimate team modes that I never liked or played anyway
I don't understand the hate on Fifa, for me it's pretty solid. The presentation is just mind blowing you know with broadcast package and such. And the Journey is basically football movie with a lot of stars in it and it's playable. Gameplay wise is playable and so fun. The presentation on PES 19 is ugly, even previous series look better. I like the gameplay tho but it isn't enough. Fifa beat Pes in overall football gaming experience.
well pes 19 gets a update patch in end october it will probably then fixed with ai and then im sure pes 19 is better then fifa 19 i cant take fifa 19 gameplay and gamplan serious.

It really is personal opinion on what you like and I ended up getting both for different reasons. Gameplay wise pes is king and I've been playing fifa since 09 but if you love football and play in real life pes just has that realistic feel with every pass touch and build up it's beautiful when you understand the mechanics and that's something I can never get in fifa every game feels the same running down the wings quick 1, 2 passes constantly sprinting but non the less it's fun in it's own way but fifa just has presentation down to the core you see it and you feel like it's the real thing you're watching also online is much better than pes I can easily get into a game on fifa unlike pes but as a fan of football in real life I have no problem buying both this year you get the best of both
I don't hate FIFA, it's just simply that there is no perfect games. Fifa isn't the best game ever but seems like it's mile ahead of Pes.

PES19 has so much potential, gameplay wise it’s much more realistic than FIFA19. Not just that you can actually feel the ball. The passing, shooting and running with it. I’m hoping with the AI patch at the end of the month can really set the gameplay apart. Like I said it has so much potential. They need to work on more errors from the AI in tackling, I can’t win penalties and hardly any free kicks, even though there are more this year than in previous it still needs adjusting. The thing letting PES down are game modes. Too much time on my club, which let’s face it will never catch up to ultimate team. See this is where they could really win one over on FIFA with a ML league mode online. Or offline. Just spend the whole year doing this game mode. Can you imagine you and a few of your mates not only going up against each other on the pitch but also off it with bidding wars on players. Maybe on the online you could add real money into ML transfer funds. Say 1£ = 10 million. £5 = 50 million. You can adjust it into your wage. Maybe add sponsorship deals back also. If I were Konami I’d get rid of theMY CLUB mode. FIFA off the pitch PES on the pitch.

Fair review of both, I haven't bought a football game for about 5 years now, I'm thinking of getting one this year and have been debating which game I am more of of a pes fan but I do feel more like getting fifa just as you say more of a full package

I think a 7.5 for PES in terms of presentation is extremely generous. If PES is a 7.5, then FIFA is a 15 in that area.

It's a good thing to see that there are still people using their brains when they give an opinion. I personally enjoy the content of your videos and that's one of the main reasons. I used to play Fifa since fifa 2000 and then one day I decided to change to pes because the gameplay gave me a better feeling. I'm still playing pes and fifa sometimes both games are great for what they are.
With developers as a developer I can say that normally those decisions about what do we do in projects are taken way above of the technology part and for me the developers team do their best.

I love both games, I have started actually playing pes 2003 back in the day. Now I play fifa and Pes too, both are awesome and have their own pros and cons...Like in PES the realistic graphics but they do not have the right teams, emblems etc which you need to rely on SmOkE patches etc and pes has less arenas/stadiums wherein more repetitive of generic looking ones but a different name for each team; Fifa in the other hand have these details I love, flags waved in the crowd which makes the environment more hyped, the camera shaking after a goal, teams are available on set and over 70 stadiums which makes the product awesome. With all this said the only thing needed in these games is the PES 2012- PES 2013 feature when you can upload your own picture on a created player's face which gives you a legit feel that you yourself are in the game and can edit other player's faces with real pictures.
Fifa has stagnated, Pes has declined. Alot of Pes has gone backwards, additions have made things worse, things that needed looking at got neglected. 2019 is more of the same. Its the direction we have been headed in. AI has been complained about for years, it was better 10 years ago. They wait until its broke and theres a riot before patching it. It will work better, but still be terrible, but will be praised for improving. When they are just lowering the bar some more. They have done this with every part of the game. Thats why its in the state it is in.
Yea no im done with pes been buying them for 5 years now since 2014 and this is the end for me ,instead of making it a simulation soccer theyv made it rock em sock em soccer its veryyy arcade and passing movements always the same, power bar for passes doesnt matter nor where u aim,everythign plays very automatic, pes2019 seems like a huge step back even from 2016 actually where there were more outcomes ,speedy wingers mattered. Fifa19 has won this year and i dont see pes coming back next year until they go full sim and new graphic engine

Judging from the demo I agree that I'm not coming back to it after buying it for 5+ years. Not because it's more arcadey, in fact, I love the first touch pass so much. But the promises they keep giving us and with only a tweak to the game makes me feel like I'm d**ked around. I just can't give them that money any more. They can redo the menus, make more broadcast presentation, add the broadcast camera we've been asking, fix the annoying AI.. I like they've finally fixed the grass on the pitch but for now I'm not sold.

As a lifetime fifa player, i like what pes has become, yet i cant get a feel for the gameplay somehow.. Its so different then FIFA is.
To me, it's down to the gameplay and I enjoy PES more on that front. If the gameplay update works out, that's an extra point for that alone.

Been playin FIFA for many years but Im really done with stupid unrealistic gameplay and stupid AI. I used to try PES every year and get back to playing FIFA in routine but this year I haven't bought FIFA after I had tried the demo. Pes has improved so much this year to be fair. 👍🏻
Im not a fifa fan really, but FIFA smahed PES yet again. I had PES on release day, i got bored after few days. Fifa are far from perfect, but the entertainment value on fifa is so much more to do on fifa than pes.

I am not a pes or fifa fan. yeah i agree fifa players are fast looks like they got spring under their shoes but come on didn't you see how pes players sometimes move, dribble in a robotic way but yeah i must say that it is improving.. in pes 15,16,17 even 18 players are more robotic than 19 but as gameplay yes i prefer pes over fifa, it's more realistic, slow but fifa is fun...
I can't understand how people just play the CPU. That is not playing the game. Playing the game is playing vs another HUMAN opponent. PES has major positives (speed, gameplay, realism, feel), but that is why FIFA is the better game. The online experience is much better, and the feel/look of the game is still fantastic.
It's very easy and fast to get the real names, logos etc. On PS4 and PC that is.

Out of the box without the MODS and the PES Universe additional licensing ... PES is sh#t. FIFA is lacking in gameplay, and some licensing, but FIFA is the better game. If FIFA and PES had a baby, it would be the best game.

Am talking about that feeling when you gaming alone in your room and no one is watching you and the only thing between you and the screen is the controller...thats when you know which game is better...Fifa or PES?
R' Zio for me i want to like PES for the realism that is vaunted on UA-cam, but alone in my room, i get bored of it quickly and switch to FIFA. I like to watch others play PES but i enjoy playing FIFA

PES needs a big improvement in their modes next year.
Very lenient with some of your scores TTB. For example you say games modes severely lacking in PES but still give it 7.5 out of 10 for that category. As a PES fan (until now) fixing the AI 2 months after release, for a game that for most people has a shelf life of 12 months, is nowhere near good enough.

Pes only wins in one area, and that is the game play, but fifa wipes the floor with presentation and that makes fifa more enjoyable, I tend to play fifa for career mode and be a pro mode, but pes if im playing against a friend in same room.
Even with some of the frustrating faults it has I still think PES is better in terms of gameplay. I've enjoyed it more since the latest patch, I don't know if they've tweaked a few things but it feels a bit better. To be honest the best football game is PES 19 patch for PS2.

I would recommend both games but I like PES more, because it feels more fluid. One thing that annoys me is hat neither have done a particular good job at making a really realistic game, especially if you compare to other sport games.
As usual I would say play Fifa online and PES offline.

My problem with PES is that the scripting makes it unplayable. At points in the games the game decides there's going to be a goal and there's nothing that can be done about it. Comebacks from nowhere, drastic momentum shifts, the ridiculous amount of last minute goals in every half. It even stops you changing playing to make sure there's a goal. If not for the scripting it's gameplay would be better.
Konami rushed released PES19 and by time patch comes out it will be 2 months since release. Thats not good enough. That said for all FIFAs sparkle I prefer PES on the pitch. The option files are outstanding as always so the "not having licenses" isnt really an issue. If you want the broadcast packages then youll need fifa.

Fifa is fun but not even close to PES when comparing only gameplay. I play both games but PES is my choice if you want a simulation
Both games are enjoyable , both games have their problems aswell but with the issues PES has at the moment with poor AI , master league being broken and fast players running through treacle you really start seing it's problems so Fifa 19 edges it for me this year .

Pes graphics r better from a far angle, i just want to know y their jerseys still get stuck to their bodies, w their hairs too. It doesn't move when running, just stagnant. Like in more recent years games have added that clothing and hair movement and i don't know whether it has an official name to it but it definitely adds a real feel to it.

I don't get the big deal with PES' transfer values. It's all relative to the economy of that game and, whilst values aren't huge, you've not got huge amounts to spend. What is annoying is how there is almost a clockwork reaction to the AI going behind. They'll immediately look to switch on and smash you and it doesn't feel organic. It leads to a lot of matches where you hold what you've got rather than push on for more.

PES 2019 transfer is really terrible, and FIFA 19 carrer mode is much better. FIFA 19 makes an an cool transfers, carrer mode, better cutscenes and better stories. FIFA 19 also need an improvement on FIFA 20 by having player carrer mode having his personal life, such as getting dated, married and start a family.
In Fifa AI doesn't renew contract... you can sign Messi as free transfer. That spoils everything

For me tis is 2nd most disappointed pes after pes 2014.Lack of league license or mediocre presentation never been an issue for me as long the gameplay is good. But tis year the ai & scripting issues totally ruined my gameplay.

Yea every time I score the Ai scores like not even 2 min later. In pes. That hasn't happened to me in fifa yet. And on pes I'll play high defensive line, then in transition they'll drop deep invite pressure when my defense is not set to deep defensive line. Tactics seem to not make a difference in pes.
