John William Oliver (born 23 April 1977) is an English comedian, writer, producer, actor and television host.
Oliver started his career as a stand-up comedian, both in the United Kingdom and United States. He came to wider attention for his work on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart as its senior British correspondent from 2006 to 2013. Oliver won three Primetime Emmy Awards for his work as a writer on The Daily Show and was its guest host for an eight-week period in 2013. In addition to The Daily Show, Oliver co-hosted the satirical comedy podcast The Bugle (2007-2015) with Andy Zaltzman, with whom Oliver had previously co-hosted the radio series Political Animal, and hosted John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show on Comedy Central from 2010 to 2013. He has also acted on television, most notably in a recurring role as Ian Duncan on the NBC sitcom Community.
Since 2014, Oliver has been the host of the HBO series Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. He has received widespread critical and popular recognition for his work on the series, whose influence over US culture, legislation and policymaking has been dubbed the "John Oliver effect". For his work on Last Week Tonight, Oliver has won six Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award and was included in the 2015 Time 100, being described as a 'comedic agent of change...powerful because he isn’t afraid to tackle important issues thoughtfully, without fear or apology.'

samantha bee is the worst, and stephen colbert can't go without mentioning trump every 30 seconds, theres a reason Jon Stewart got out when he did, he is very reticent about the current state of the daily show clones.

The camera work is a big part of this as well. Most of these podcast/radio interviews are filmed from a fixed, overhead POV as if from a security camera, but the cameras here are level with the subjects and have a nice soft focus (plus some color grading over the footage), making it feel more like a scene from a movie.

Thank you for doing what was right, John Oliver. The fact that it was a film screening for a movie about a sexual harassment case being buried, while INVOLVING a real-life sexual predator to speak about it, has so many levels of failure that it's hard to imagine anyone in the room could be thinking of anything else the whole time. The subtext was literally screaming, how could anyone there genuinely NOT address it? If I were Hoffman, I wouldn't even show up for the simple fact of not being able to keep a straight face at the ultimate level of bullshitting I'd be putting myself and others through. He's clearly not very smart.

Do you know what's even more crazy than Dustin Hoffman's allegations and the plot of Wag the Dog? That movie was released a month before the Lewinsky Scandal. That movie was like a Poltergeist curse to Dustin Hoffman, and it could be one to de Niro or other actors and actresses in that film.

It wasn't a real apology, and he has been outed for doing a LOT more than touching a colleague's leg. For instance, non-consensually shoving his fingers into women's clothes and then up into their genitals. Exposing himself to his daughter's underage friend and getting her to massage his feet while he was exposed. Dustin also recounted in interview losing his virginity by deceiving his brother's drunken girlfriend in a dark room that he was his brother and having sex with her. Dustin laughs about her horrified cry when she realized that had been Dustin on top of her. He is an unrepentant pig and rape and sexual assault are accurate terms to apply to his activities.
