Man those old Polaris triples were awesome . I have 2 cats one a 19’ zr 800 and 2 summers ago picked up a 2000 zrt 600 for $1100 CAD running with 6000 miles and I have a spare motor on the shelf . So far I’m about $2600 all in . New carb boots , new seat cover . Recharged and revalved all 4 shocks . Rebuilt skid . Synched carbs thing runs 100 mph on the Speedo all the time consistently . I swear I love that old triple more than my new one sometimes
I have a 8,000 mile 809 mach z all original (besides maintenance). People don't believe its possible or that its a ticking time bomb. I firmly believe what took out most of the old sleds was holding them wot across the lake then letting full off the throttle draining the oil out of the cylinders.
Nutter, I have the baby brother 700 in my garage. I bought it a couple years ago and haven't really rode it because of the bad winters the last two years in Michigan with a third possibly on the way with how it's going so far. It shows 18xx miles which I believe to be true based on the shape it's in. It has the green carb slides and I already have the black slides to put in it along with Mikuni carb rebuild kits. I've never been into the rack carbs beyond doing some main jet and needle clip changes before on twins I had in the early to mid 2000's. I've got plenty of experience with the Mikuni VM's. So I'm looking forward to a video on going through those rack carbs.
I have an 03 went 12k miles before a rod let go a. It's all rebuilt/restored now . I run 64 gm weights ground down to 63 gm stock everything else. Blsck slides and torque arm are pretty much mandatory.
Just the usual stuff, good compression, no funny noises, doesn't act strange. Water pump is the known weak link for any Ultra based engine, so plan on getting the water pump done by Tim at precision pumps right away. If you go back a couple years to the videos of Brad's Ultra I know I put Tim's card in one of the videos in that series.
If the carb slides are green change them out, they had issues with cracking in 1999. I would add a torque arm, they will break the engine mount without one, that was one strong Polaris.
Nice sled just pulled my2000 with htg heads pipes dyna port can clucthed geared xcr 440 seat and tank and rear suspension custom paint love it but ya nice sled nutter
Mikuni just came out with some nice rebuild kits for the tm flatslide carbs. Come with a new float assy that used to cost alone about as much as the kits are now..usually though, all they need is the oring that seals the float assy to the carb body . Hard to match up so I just get them from arctic cat.. same carbs on there triples and the oring is like $3. Almond square spring known to fail. Use almond round, some 10-62 weights.. Jet it down a couple sizes. Verify tps voltage at 3.77v. DONT try to unscrew the power valve bellows nut without heating it 1st.. they are loctited...orange new style bellows work great in place of the black original bellows.

Nutter where do you get oem mikuni vm carb needle seat parts. I need some for my xlt 600 and don't want Chinese knock offs. Thanks. 2 stroke smoke is the best.
Hey Nutter!! Love the channel! I’m having trouble with a hanging idle on a 96 XLT special, once it warms up the idle will hang at 4000 RPM’s once I give it a little choke it settles back to 2000 RPM’s. Any ideas are appreciated, thanks.
Thanks! Carbs have been cleaned in the ultrasonic, new boots with aviation gasket maker, and fattened up the idle jets. Cylinder base gaskets maybe? Crank seals?
what a sick machine! a fellow i had worked for back in 1998 had bought a new 98 indy storm 800 insane. he put 188 studs on the track overstudded it. i had taken this rocket ship up the powerlines and didnt get far because not only didnt want to turn but kept on pulling the skis off of the ground. i was scared shitless. he ended taking off many studs. i think it was 150 hp somewhat what you have there.his brother had the identicle machine and these two idiots had them up on i think it was pacico lake side by side aprox 115 mph. talk about nuts.i probably wouldnt be alive if i had done that. i had my indy trail at about 80 on the small lake up were i live. we had a whole bunch of snow a few weeks ago but it all meited. got my indy running the other day but no snow. have to wait . take it easy on that rocket ship you got ther and have a good year. same goes for the other fellows.
Thanks!

I still have my white 96/97 leather Jacket. Still looking sharp!
Love these Aggressive chassis. I have 2 97 600 xcrs myself. Best sleds ever.
They are great sleds for sure!
Very nice! Crazy how a muscle sled like that went 10k miles.
It can happen, apparently.
Great video! Those xcr 800 triples are the best sleds they ever built.
I'm really looking forward to riding one!
Can’t wait for the videos of the maintenance and wrenching you’ll be doing to this sled will help a lot of people out in learning 💪🏼
It's a project!
Nice sled to run . The last of the big tripple/triple monsters.
Thanks!

Happy New Year!

That sounds like a great sled!
Nutter, now that’s a rocket ship…For sure you will be first to the other end of the lake… Sweet sled
Pardeeville Paul😉
Thanks Paul, I hope so!

Thanks! It needs a tune up up. I'll have to look in my helix box.

At 10K miles it still has the green slides. I will be changing those.
Hey there nutter I love the video you made looked like you'll have lots of fun with that sled
Thanks Chris. It's going t be fun!
Since you'll be pulling the silencer out to do the chain case might as well get a Todd Clyne trash can to replace the factory suitcase.

She’s a beauty.
Thanks!
man id love one of these things...anything major to look for on the motors when scoring one of these.

Yes, it made it 10k miles with the green slides. Black slides were ordered last week.
@@nuttersspeedshop My buddy had one and it was a rocket. When they hook you better hang on, it was an arm stretcher.
Nice Buy! Should be able to beat some people on the lakes now!!
Thanks. It's got some work to do before that happens :)

Sounds like some good tips. Thanks.
New sub here from north Sweden, Kardis. Cheers
Welcome aboard!
Now you have thing 3 to Todd's thing 1&2👍👍👍
Awesome! I’d be interested to see what the compression on each cylinder is for 10k miles
That is one of many things I will be showing.
sweet sled🎉
Thanks!
Sounds fantastic when pinched
Thanks!
Matching leather is Boss! I like those 99s, awesome sled brother 😎
Thanks 👍
That chain case leak was to soften up the ice before he drilled the ice fishing hole 🕳.
Get that 800 to rip again.
2003 last year of the XCR 800 triple triple. I saw one hit 112 mph.
Awesome!
Definitely needs a compression check.
Nice find she is to quiet for my liking but she has good bones

@@larrywarner9314 Thanks Larry!
What's that white stuff all over the ground there by you???
Just a memory of snow. It's already all melted.
Awesome sled. I may have drove by the bar you go to this weekend when i bought a tx. Is it called the hilltop right?
No. don't know that one
@nuttersspeedshop ok maybe its another toutuber i watch
Wish, I would have kept my 1980 Polaris centerion 500 triple.

Check for air leaks and clean the carbs.

@@erikobryan975 Could be. I've shown how to pressure check a motor several times. Sounds like that is the next step.
Nice addition.. hope we get more snow. *LIKED* the video
Thanks John!
Should of picked up my 99 700 xcr. Also in Eveleth lol

Red Rocket.

It did not sound as potent and revvy as most similar triples. Clutching. Carbs.
I mentioned in the video that the previous owners had went to tamer than stock clutching.
