Generally it is 10w40 Semi Synthetic Motorcycle oil (not car oil, as car oil can cause clutch slip due to these engines having wet clutches) However it does depend on climate, though either of those two will work fine. Unless it gets real cold where you are id just run it with 10w40 semi synthetic

in my 2015 manual, it recommends 10W-30 motorcycle oil. It's based on your climate though, so if you're in a colder than average climate, I believe you should go with a lighter oil like 5w-30 or something like that. Any oil is better than no oil though. just make sure you use motorcycle oil. a lot of people seem to say they're the same, but in my CBF manual, it says to avoid oils with friction modifiers (like car oils) because the clutch might not work as it should. I'm happy to spend a bit more, just so there's less chance my bike dies. :) Worth it.

Jon X this is probably the fake motul 7100. Fake ones are avalible for a lower price and cost the fraction of orignal cherry red motul 7100. Also packaging label of the bottle is different then the orignal one.
Andrew Carbines it has a centrifugal filter. Have to take the engine side casing off to get to it. Doesn't need cleaning or checking for a good few thousand miles though. Think it's the 7,500 mark.

Original Motul comes with red colour.
