Shi Heng Yi belongs to the 35th Generation of Shaolin Masters and is the headmaster of the Shaolin Temple Europe 歐洲少林寺 located in Germany. Learn more about the training methods to develop unity of body and mind, merging internal and external power.
Every year there are several retreats that are taking place in the Shaolin Temple Europe 歐洲少林寺, the monastery where I am living.
A retreat can either be a 3-day Retreat (Friday - Sunday) or a 6-day Retreat (Monday - Saturday). Every retreat is held under a specific topic, such as: Gong Fu, Qi Gong (e.g. Ba Duan Jin, Yi Jin Jing, 13 Luohan), Meditation retreats and Rou Quan retreats.

Dear Shi Heng Yi, I was profoundly moved by your honesty, your open struggle, your effort for all who follow you to better understand. I felt sadness as well. For you. And for me. I wish was able to meet you in person to tell you how much you have helped me physically and spiritually. While I have some physical limitations and some exercises are difficult for me to master, the mental value I do appreciate. Even that I have a long way to learn. I am committed to continue the Shaolin practice, imperfect though I may be. I am 70 years old, still young enough to learn new ways to deepen my mind. Shi Heng Yi is seeking truth like you. According to scripture he is lost and is seeking truth. Know this. Jesus is the truth the life and the way. There is spirit of truth and a spirit of error. You are following a spirit of error. God's Holy Spirit is the spirit of truth every other spirit is not of God. Jesus said, I stand at the door, the door of your heart, if any man will open I will come in. I opened my heart to Him 43 years ago. I have not regretted a single second of it. The more I learn from Him the sweeter He becomes. If my life was required of me to stand for what I know I would do it. I have said this to a very large audience but I will stand by my words. @@gloriagordon157 I'm happy for you that you found your way to the light, but if each person who found their path, by their own free choice and exploration, was to assume and state to others that the path they found was the only one to the light, then we would all be in utter darkness. (And maybe that's indeed where the world is).
It seems you might have more searching to do Dan/Gloria, to truly understand the message of Jesus; and to understand the many blessed and sacred ones (including on this page) who have been open to others and made this a better world -- and done so without judging their brothers and sisters, who are equally pursuing the light, as lost and mistaken.

People, if you follow a man who is admittedly blind and wants to lead you, where do you think he will lead you? Jesus said, I am the truth I am the way I am the life. Why in the world do you listen to a man who is groping his way through life like you are? Jesus had no doubts. Jesus said, you must be born again. This means that when a man is born again the Spirit of the living God enters him. This Jesus said must happen in order for you to ( see) or understand spiritual things. Self reflection or looking into ones self is folly.
As I listened, I was afraid that you were going to tell us that you were going to stop teaching in this format. Instead, you've decided to offer deeper teachings. Thank you for trusting us with this. I am eagerly awaiting what comes next, eager for the opportunity to make more of a commitment to these practices.

"Change will come, if you want it to or not." Shi Heng Yi's struggle to deal with his current dilemma is so unfortunate and painful. His revealing talk, his honesty and directness are admirable as he shares his inmost feelings and plans for the future. Shi Heng Yi, regardless of any changes to come, please know that you have helped and are helping hundreds and thousands of men and women to become a better version of themselves. I have the privilege of practicing Chi Gong for 37 years, and teaching, and many times I notice that both students and teachers stay only in the external aspect of the movement and publish a lot of inaccurate and balanced material on the net, and it's a real shame that's the case. It's not just about the explanation, it's really about the commitment and probably also using these practices not as A kind 9f fitness workout nor as aa kind of spiritual bypass. And yes indeed it's difficult to explain what he means by the explanation of Mindfulness because it really goes deeper and for western people it's nowadays a bit hard to develope this kind of discipline Buddhism and any form of it practices bring with them. At least it is such a treasure because it's wisdom developed out of a state of deep consciousness.

It was heart-rending to watch his struggle. That is he is deeply and profoundly troubled is evident...and I admire his courage and humility to be able to admit that he needs to change his approach. I am very grateful for any (and all) wisdom he is willing to share. i have a progressive and debilitating disease, and it is thru his teaching I have been able to stand against it's advance (and still be able to walk long after the doctors tell me I shouldn't).
I hope Shi Heng Yi turns to Our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. He, Jesus is our answer.

Shifu, I rewatch many times many of your interviews and talks and not just for the knowledge you share verbally, but because I can learn simply by watching you - you emanate, live and breathe your teachings. You truly are someone at peace and stillness within, that it helped me overcome my restless anxiety by trying to emulate you and be unshakeable. My point is that even when you simplify your teachings, you are actually teaching a lot more than that simply by being a living example of the benefits of said teachings.

I feel compassion for you and feel sorry for you people. I see you being led on a journey that ends in destruction. Please bare with me. I'm 75 years old. I have investigated and tried more "paths" than most of you know even exist. ALL of them lead to destruction. All of them! Paths to or journeys to enlightenment are paths of "the world" meaning they ARE NOT FROM GOD. I could make a very long list of people who made searches for enlightenment and they all died and will be judged for what they have done in their lives. If they have not had the blood of Jesus applied to their lives they will come up short before a Holy God. This is where the trickery and deception comes in. Let me explain. It's like smoke and mirrors. The smoke and mirrors are a distraction away from what you should be looking at. While people seek enlightenment they spend their lives on this quest and then they eventually die. The Bible Says it is appointed to man once to live and once to die and then comes the judgement. If this quest for enlightenment keeps you from the only thing that God will accept as a pardon for sin, this so called enlightenment has led you on a path to destruction, to judgement before a Holy God and you will come up short. Do you see how deceptive these false teachers are? Know this, there is God and there is satan. One wants to save you and one wants to destroy you. I will say a little more. Adolf Hitler looked for a path to enlightenment by different means. He looked for advice from books that were written by people who thought they knew ways to higher knowledge, to more enlightenment. I won't go into any more about him but look where it got him and the rest of the world. Don't be deceived because one end is more radical than the other. They end up the same. One of you commented about this being a spiritual journey. You are correct about it being spiritual. God is a Spirit. Satan is a spirit. They are just as real as we are. There many words that describe satan. One is deceiver. One is liar. One is where he is described as an angel of light. Another is destroyer. Another is he is called a dragon. Every one of us, we created beings has been created with an eternal soul. Satan and a third of the angels that God cast out of heaven are eternal beings also. Their lot has already been cast. They will be cast into the lake of fire .This is the part that is eternally important for us. Jesus came to take our place so if we receive Him by faith for what He did for us on the cross, God will not cast us into the lake of fire but pardon us.. Please understand. This is not me. This is what the Bible says. The Bible says in the gospel of John that in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. The word here is referencing Jesus as being God, God is triune. Father, son and spirit. Three in one { don't try to figure this out, only The Holy Spirit can show this} Read on a little more and it says that through him all things were made. Read for yourselves what more is written for us. Read the Bible. There you will find what you have been looking for eternally not just temporarily. God bless. I went searching and finally found the video where Jiang Yu Shan talks about Master Shi Heng Yi and says his exercises are incomplete and don’t benefit etc..
I don’t feel good listening to him but if Master Shi Heng Yi has chosen a new path, we will follow!

So..
I learned My Qi Gong from you (20 min morning ...). I know you say you are not My teacher (master) but, what else could you be to Me? Sure after i saw you do it and tried for days to figure out basic breathing etc. I surfed the internet and saw that there were obviously other way to approach Qi Gong. Im 57 years old. That was 3 months ago.Without a Shaolin school in My town (Vancouver Island) I surfed the internet to find something to exercise with and now have some basic cudgel forms to warm Me up and can make it down our towns big flight of stairs on My hands with some breaks LOL.
What brings Me back is the knowledge YOU shared with Me. I don't know your masters. No one else that I know does the kind of training that I do now. I wake up and drink two glasses of warm water at 5 AM then go to the beach rain or shine and practice My stick forms and stances for 2 hours then.
The best part of My day. The part where I can free up all of My energy to the world. The clarity to be calm all day with work or whatever I am doing on a day.
The Qi Gong that you taught Me.

I feel that your changes will be so welcome and I am excited to see what else is possible.

Some of the things were already brought on point before from the comments below. Criticism is online always louder. And its a real new format. A difficult one. Old masters will say that this way to teach is not the right one. But everything changes, always and forever, nothing will stay the same. The teachings evolve. I find it really good and right to try new things, go with the change and not stay at the same. A true intelligent master considers all aspects, and forms them to one piece (old movements and new ways to teach). Your trying is noble and pure, it is selfless and full of wisdom. We need people like you to make this world a healthier and more mindful place. Thank you, you follow your heart and that is always right.
Earlier this year i had brain surgery and i got back to movement with your qi gong. It was incredibly hard at the start but i keept practicing. Now i feel already more balanced than ever before and there is a lot more to come! I found a Kung fu school in my city, its a lot of fun. You initiated my journey with the martial arts. I think i watched every video form you and i learned a lot! I will contiue watching, practicing and learning. Also i want to give and spread my way of postivity with the world in my ways.
Thank you for everything you have taught so far and i am really looking for the deeper coming parts. I hope to visit Otterberg next year and talk to you in person.

As a medic, even just by practising/copying the form of Ba Duan Jin ,the way you taught- I note a definitive difference, an upsurge of renewed qi in my body. This worked every single time, more so noticeable on tired days. I am a mere beginner and know nothing about the "yi" that you mentioned here, as yet.

I have always wondered why Master’s form was so different to China’s Shaolin Kungfu. But that didn’t stop me watching all the videos and continue learning simply because you’re the best teacher I have ever come across.

I was so sorry to see your struggle. At the end of the first 6 days training I remember you said something like'I have told you all you need to practise for the next 6 months, and I thought 'How wise!" In your first TED talk you talk about commitment , it was about commitment. You have been So generous with sharing your knowledge and wisdom. It is very difficult I think to share with such a large audience online, I thought you were trying to tell us that you would not be posting any more online content. The creator, as you call Him, is NOT pleased with him. God sent His son Jesus Christ to die for us. Have you ever heard Shi Heng Yi acknowledge this? No. The message Shi Heng Yi teaches has nothing to do with the reality that Jesus revealed to us. Shi leads you on a path of false enlightenment, Jesus seeks to save our souls from eternal damnation. Huge difference, eh? One leads to hell the other leads to heaven. Choose.
"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters, compared to what lies within us." Famous words that are truly and honestly depicted by you Shifu. Your heart's intent and by your mind's intent. I am a big believer that things happen for a reason and this sadness and heavy heart you a carrying is possibly to alter or deviate your path's journey. To create change. To create true progress. Undoubtedly this will improve you, your teachings and the result will be a true gift to those who continue to follow you and learn from you. I am a practising Christian who practises the Shaolin Arts without conflict. The more you understand the Shaolin way the more you will see less controversy between this and our Lord’s word. 🙏🏻
@@davetamblyn4316 Dave, I can't tell quite what you mean by how you phrased your wording when you said you are a 'practicing' Christian. I don't mean to be nit picking , that is not my intent. But, I know some people who go to church and call themselves Christians but are not. You may say who are you to judge? I will reply by saying what the scriptures say. You will know them by their fruit. It is not always easy to tell a real born again Christian from a fake. Are there fakes? YES! If you are familiar with scripture, and I hope you are, you would know the parables that Jesus spoke. Wolves in sheeps clothing, the different soils, the 10 virgins, etc. When some one becomes a Christian through the new birth, that person becomes a different person. All things become new, we are changed into a new creation. When and if that new birth takes place we are ushered into God's family. We become His sons or daughters. We enter into a RELATIONSHIP with God our Father, Jesus Christ our Savior and are filled with The Holy Spirit. So I guess one could say that they are a practicing Christian but to be more accurate if we can say in truth and honesty that we are living a life in obedience then we we are 'practicing ' Christianity. I hope I have not confused any one. Let me close by saying, when Jesus Christ comes into your life you don't, won't or want ANYTHING else to guide you or to give you balance in life. Master Shi Heng Yi, I met him when I was in a turbulent time and it was a blessing to adopt the discipline of exercise on a daily basis from then on.
We were surprised by the publication that came so loaded (untimely?) with conflicting feelings coming from someone who always put himself so serene in the storms :)
Normally, it would have been a personal shock, (as many we assume you were saying about needing to get away from posts or something) if I hadn't turned to myself for the 1 month thing. Not denying the master, but in search of deepening past teachings, within my own reality that was never focused on the martial art.
Only, following (given the opportunity) to experience such a wise practice and with such regenerating effects on the physical and spiritual body and which arose at such an appropriate time at the time.
Such wise teachings, when released virtually, just like any other topic whatsoever, would suffer the same reactions (positive/negative). The fool's word belongs to him, and no responsibility rests with anyone but himself.
But it is noteworthy, what seems to have occurred (the reprimands emanating from others masters) whose weight of such evaluations had their impact on his person. Who am I to discuss on that level.
Only, I would like to remind you that the moment experienced by the world was atypical and disastrous in many ways. His dedication to giving this wisdom and making it available to whoever was willing to give the attempt (even if not up to such art and wisdom), allowed many a discovery of themselves and inner empowerment.
For my part, I can only be grateful and maintain the commitment to continue learning, studying and improving what you have brought us by opening this opportunity.

Sifu, as a teacher myself, I had to accept that my students had to decide how far to go in their studies, what they would do with it and the depth of their commitment. Thank you so much for sharing and giving people like me a chance to study and learn. For me personally, I am more focused on the Qi Gong, but maybe one day when I feel more in tune with my body and feel at a good level physically, I will try to learn more of the martial arts part of Shaolin. I have spent the last few years practicing and living with mindfulness and believe I have a good grasp of my mind, but I want to learn and have more control of my mind/body. As you said, I just need to be more committed to it.

You said, your decicion to put out videos was not the wisest (bc of being copied) - maybe, time will tell. Maybe these times are not primerly for the wise ones but for those who are capable of doing the necessary. And you did. This might be real wisdom.
I can't thank you enough for providing your teachings online, thank you for having the guts to do so. As many others here I wouldn't have a chance to study at the monastary. Times are weird and the world is changing roughly and fast.
I found you at the beginning of the lockdown doing basic breathing exercises. (I did such before). I was stunned: You are not only teaching knowledge, your Chi reaches out beyond the internet because your teachings are authentic, your intention is pure, you live and breathe everything you do, then your patience, your clear explanations... I thought to myself: this Master is a jewel. You inspired me - and many other people. So I stayed. And followed.

Dear Shifu - thank you for sharing your wisdom and time to help those of us who are interested in learning the Shaolin way but don't have easy access to this where we live. I honestly am not sure what "depth" you are introducing, but I am looking forward to the journey and learning from you. I will do my best to be mindful with my Shaolin practice - while completing the videos and as I carry out each day.
Please be encouraged that while there may be some who are only able to apply these teachings on the surface there are others who are committed to deepening their understanding and actions in the Shaolin ways. I am new to this journey, but I am working to find my path and appreciate your willingness to continue teaching despite the challenges

when i started watching the video I was really afraid of you leaving us or of any other major changes.. because the talk seemed somehow heavy. In such moments i have to remind myself that changes are not bad but necessary in the course of life, it is how life works and makes development possible. And despite all the change, that which is true and truly dear to your heart (that which belongs to you) can never be really lost.
I did not fully understand all your worries but i hope they may be lightened. Thank you for your work and presence.

Your teachings have helped me to better understand this truth: the body never lies, it lives in the present, here and now; but the mind may wander in the past or in the future; so, it is important to align our mind to our body. I understand that you will go on a path of knowledge, as a disciple, and you will have a master. But as long as you continue to share your knowledge, you will be my master!
What you have shared so far has been greatly beneficial. It's been clear to me that there is a lot of knowledge and depth behind even the smallest things, and it's wonderful to see how deeply you care for these practices. Communicating such knowledge seems quite the challenge! I am excited to see what more I can discover by continuing to learn from you.
