Cool build! Wrenched for a buddy back in early/ mid 90s for GNCCs we ran Laegers, Duncan motors, type 6 PT pipes, Ohlins suspension front, cr500 rear link works rear shock, my buddy still has one of the three Rs he raced back then
Thanks for watching! Be sure to check out the Laeger build that Mike did as well! LAEGER's (frame) Honda 250R build! ua-cam.com/video/Ucv4r2kuC0c/v-deo.html
I went through my '85 200X and replaced almost all the bolts with titanium and aluminum in non stress areas with Pro-Bolt parts. Great people to deal with!
Sweet build. What’s the story on the Honda suspension links everyone seems to use? Looking to start my first ever build. And do you guys ever use steering stabilizers like precision??
Titanium is great for being lightweight and handle cyclical stress better than other alloys, however titanium does cause galvanic corrossion to other dissimilar metals. That is why passive film, a special substance like "ti prep" is used to protect from galvanic corrosion. In aviation, all corrosion is the devil and never ignored.
I think at the rate that a XC race quad gets rebuilt throughout the season that galvanic corrosion is less of an issue than a play quad. Great feedback tho! Thanks for watching!🤙
I raced an 88 250R I had an Excalibur axle 2 + 2 or 4 over. They also made a axle carrier. I want another 1 but I'm now 60 and would try to race like I did in my 20's LOL
I'm 55 now, and I tried to have a little comeback in 2018-19. I ran in the 40+ class just to see how far off I was from open A. And it was a HUGE eye opener. I'm not NEARLY as fast as I was when I was 30, or even when I was 40! It kinda dinged up my ego, bc I remember when I raced 30+ B, saying "if one of those old 40+ guys beat me, I'm just going to hang up my boots and retire!"
absolute amazing build . glad to see somebody knows what their doing putting geese , anti seize and lock tight on everything . i was going to say first class ...... but his cheap ass put a ( new used ) sprocket on it 🤣🤣🤣🤣 jk jk . i got my 250r in 01 from Joe Byrd . it wasnt one of his race bikes just one that passed through his hands . but i was 13 and was a fan of his since 98 . ive still got that R and rebuilding it at the moment from a crash that dang near killed me early in the 2021 season as i was first in points . the dude i crashed with did CPR on me and hes why im here today because the Lord put him by my side
Cerakote is not even close to the durability of powder coat. It is thinner layer of protection and IS harder than paint. NOT a replacement for powder though.

That bike is a wet dream for us old guys who would've killed to have a Bob Sloan, or Bill Ballance, or Borich's level 250r!!

The Honda suspension links are stock this one is a no link lobo swingarm! GPR makes a specific stabilizer for the lobo frame!
This thing is gonna be sick!!! Great video documenting the build.
Hell yea that looks nasty I love the colors scheme so far can't wait for part 2

Doug gust won his national 250r with a lectron either 97 or 98
How slow is the painting of the frame? 7040 ?
Get R Done
Let the kiddos come and take a gander, maybe they are the future of quad builds.
That was kind of a
di€{ move bro!
Sweet build though!
Are we going to see this at nyoa races?
Doubtful. Mike doesn’t have plans to race it.
Is that an OEM 400ex rear bearing carrier ? :D Great build! :)
It’s a 250R carrier. Thanks!
@@DrewCampbellRacing How did you manage to get a NEW 250R carrier ? I thought they were Discontinued :(
It’s a aftermarket one
@@johnlangman142 it’s an aftermarket part but Mike said he can’t remember who makes it. Sorry😕
Ahhhh...same part# as the 400ex! Nice score! :)

You realize they cerakote guns right? It is definitely durable. Powder is different because it’s powder, both are baked on finishes
Yall talk too dam much
Yet, you still watched. Thanks for the view🤙
