Paphos Cyprus EXPOSED! Take a walk with me around Pafos and I'll show you the places that the holiday companies and tour operators don't show you! I've spent a week in this HELLHOLE of a resort. Boarded up shops, restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs. It's like a ghost town, a town that has been abandoned. Hardly a soul in sight! Building work everywhere half finished and just left to Wreck and Ruin! YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING as bad as this!! I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy!

Lee that white cat looked like a moomin 😂
IT IS A SCAM - WELL DONE BRAINS 🤣
Follow the MONEY . . . . . . . . . . . . PS don't give your DATA away. Self preservation starts with YOU.
I've lived in Paphos 16 years and yes some places are run down and a few roadworks are still going on but a lot of our beautiful region is stunning and not at all like you make out! I hope people don't take notice of this and come and enjoy our beautiful home!
what astonishes me is that you never bothered to show any of the top notch archaelogical sites of the town...the mosaics, 'hte tombs of the kings' etc...and also, one does not travel to Cyprus in the 'winter' season and stay in Paphos...the magic of Cyprus is driving into the country...
Lee. The difference between a cat and a dog is that the dog looks up at you and thinks, " they love me,feed me,give me some ware warm to sleep, they must be god. A cat looks up at you and thinks, " they love ,feed me,give me some ware warm to sleep, i must be god." Great videos, keep up the good work.
Somewhere!
If you had continued walking past where you ended the video you would have come across a site with the most amazing Roman mosaics and a bit further on the ancient ruins in the Valey of the Kings road. I guess you are a torurist - me I like to explore what's around.
After this one, you're going to be as welcome in Paphos as you are in Whitby!! I'm already looking forward to your return visit with wig and false beard 😂
So that’s why we can’t get the potholes repaired in Mansfield , the diggers are all on holiday in Cyprus !
Youre always honest n fair n this was a cracking vlog n i love the fact you mention the people you love! Incidental music was pleasant too Lee. Well done you xx
What a mess. One thing Lee, where are all the builder's??. Out of season and didn't see one person working on anything, very strange.
Hi lee we we stayed in paphos 25 years and they were building site's every where then , Watching your vlog has brought back bad memories, like you we would not go back again .Keep up the great work
Thank you so much for this video 😊
I absolutely love Cyprus, we had some wonderful holidays, lovely restaurants, friendly people everywhere.
Nice tortoiseshell cat :). Fun fact, the oldest evidence of human & domestic cat keeping was discovered in Cyprus a few years back dated ca. 9500 years ago. Archeological burial site showing human & cat skeletons next to each other. Previously, we thought that cats and human relationships started in ancient Egypt around 3000 BC. 🐈
Hi Lee thank you for showing us round some of the sites Just love your vlogs ❤️
The digger from Mansfield was probably stolen and shipped, it's where most stolen plant end up.
I'm 65 and have never had a holiday in the EU anywhere. Ive had 3 days at EuroDisney which I hated and have never ever wanted to go to places that are hot, crowded, commercialised, or foreign. Those timeshare people asked me where I would like to go but they didn't have anywhere for me in Alaska or Greenland or Iceland so no thanks.
where have you been?
Sad that you have missed so many great places.. One can only hope the scenery of Greenland and Iceland / Alaska suited your liking - or was the lack of timeshare's a problem??
Get yourself over to the Canary Islands, Best location in the world. I've been over 50 times and still love the islands
45 Euro for that meal. Wow. That's $75 Australian Dollars. Seems pretty expensive to me. Best come back to Australia. :)
Awesome video and the sunset at the end was a stunning sight
Another good Vlog MacMaster. You tell it how it is.
It's like your electric car, you didn't do your homework about this place either.
I was thinking exactly the same thing.
Blimey Lee I rang one of those bells when my niece got wed out there years ago, what a transformation from Australia..That area was on its way out when I was there..A young Irish girl got out of an old battered sports car and tried to rope us into a time share..Horrible, glad you’ve highlighted this so people can see how downhill it is..
Hellhole??? I live in Sunderland, that's a hellhole!
Thanks Lee… You’ve just saved me from Wasting my money on trying Cyprus. Looks like Pontins in North Wales 😂
You were in form, humour wise, this vLog Lee. 👍😂
I think it may have been 'laughing in face of adversity'. lol 😊
Thought you was going to explore the island. There are some beautiful places to visit. We go to Cyprus every year and never had any problems with building and roadworks. We stay in Latchi or Polis.
I went to Paphos last year in JUNE and yes they were doing road works but there was no problem and I loved it with my wife and daughter, so we are going back again this year !!
Wonderful programming and great story telling keep up the great work 👍❤️
Love the building site shots 😂👍🏻
We went in Oct 2019 and really liked it went back last Christmas and so many places had closed down and lots of building work. COVID seemed to have decimated a lot of the businesses that were there before. Such a shame.
I went to Cyprus (Paphos) for the first time last September and had a lovely holiday staying at The Mayfair Hotel, we couldn’t fault it and would definitely go there again, I went with my widowed daughter, we went on three coach excursions, the weather was lovely, and the hotel staff couldn’t have been more helpful 😎☕️
Staying there at this very moment. Exceeded all my expectations.
I was thinking of visiting Cyprus this year, thanks for the heads up, Paphos is certainly one to avoid for now!
Thank you 👍
Definitely your funniest vLog, couldn't stop laughing (with you) 😂
Bad to judge anywhere when it’s out of season.
There should have been a warning when he booked. But I guess the chances of that were zero.
So Lee's review is justified. Imo
Are you serious ? . Easter is almost upon us . I've been to war zones that look better than this .
I'm half Cypriot and I agree that Paphos isn't the nicest place. I've never understood why so many people go there for holidays BUT.... Protaras and Ayia Napa are amazing places and totally different to this area. Caribbean style beaches, beautiful cape greko, the restaurants and hotels are far superior this Paphos. I would say though that Cyprus comes alive from the mid April. Until then it can be largely lifeless. I will give you a personal tour if you ever go back, but to the South east of the island. It's absolutely chalk and cheese and you wouldn't believe the difference!!
Great video thank you
Hi Lee. You have gone out of season. Cyprus like all places comes alive at the holiday season. Don’t be too hard Cyprus is a wonderful destination for holidays, just enjoy your holiday.
I've been to Cyprus several times. Although (many of the) Cypriots will tell you otherwise, the North of the Island is the best part. Stay in Limassol, hire a car and travel up to Famagusta, then find a local guide who can take you on a tour of the abandoned city. Finish it off with food and drinks at Kyrenia harbour.
Ive just come back from a 3 week holiday ..and find that after a couple of weeks you start to get a feeling for the place and you do start to forget about the UK .at the moment its still Cyprus winter. But its changing fast. You will start to appreciate it the longer your there .
Yes I totally agree
"making coffee great again" haha. Well played.
When you’re coming back to Australia make sure you get to Tasmania. Before you leave England ask the blonde angel if you can look at her map of Tassie.😂😉
At 10:34 that view looks like Torbay before the Council cut all the palm trees down in the night ... 😮
amazing video lee
Lee singing 'Show Me the Way to Go Home' 😂 on the flight home ✈️
It cant possibly be as bad as Nottingham ? What a miserable place
Makes the Broad Marsh look posh 😂
I first visited Paphos in the early Eighties. My father was posted I. Dhekelia with the army. I was studying at university and visited my parents for long summer holidays. I often visited Paphos. And in the days it was really undeveloped and pretty - there used to be a famous resident pelican in the harbour.
I have been back in Cyprus a few times since. I feel it has been overdeveloped. Sad. Food in Cyprus is fantastic - mezedes are great.
Lol 😂Lee. The highlight of your visit maybe puddy cats coming to the restaurant and nick all the fish
Hi
You really need to travel to the other side of Cyprus next time.
Protaras is absolutely beautiful in season from May, beautiful beaches and resort.
He said "let's go" and there he went...
You should of gone to protaras much better over there. I have been to both paphos and protaras and I didn't like paphos but loved protaras and can't wait to go back there someday
Great insight Lee and banter, won't be going thanks, washing my hair 🤩
Great video Lee. Greece should definitely be next on your list. Zante is beautiful 😁
This reminds me of your ill-fated trip to north Tenerife tired and run down, I suppose at the current rate if you were to return in 5 years they may have finally finished everything.
sarah thinks more of the cat because it`s at home more than you
Lol. It doesn't pay the bills though 😉
Her guard cat! Actually I think you had it on a vlog where you had a takeaway Sunday roast and Harriet was rating it in the garden.
Nice video Lee. think I will check if the building work is finished before i ever visit. You should have asked for fries/ chips as a side dish. It looked nice what you had😊
Putting a flower in the shot! Haha. You are funny Lee and I love the way you respond to comments in a positive way. I don’t blame you going home early, although you should have tried the other side of the island or the Troodos mountains. Much nicer. Ps. Like you even more now I know you’re a cat man 😊
Try Crete Lee. Off the beaten track. The people are lovely & the grub is great👍🏻
i have been to beirut when on a cruise, and it was shocking till u got out of the city. bullet holes in buildings. Lee you should go and explore Limassol, Nicosia before you head home
Quintessential MacMaster vlog
Go to Protaras, Limasoll, Troodos Mountains Anywhere from Paphos.
That is definitely looking a bit rough around the edges lee, don’t blame ya for pulling the plug early 😊,how about trying a cheap 5 to 7 day euro cruise stopping of at different countries can’t be any worse than Paphos lol 😂 my friends go on the cheap cruises and love it ,
Hi Lee, thank you for the entertainment. I hadn't watched your channel in a while, but must commend you on the excellent production, editing and overall vlog quality. Add to this your humour and it makes for really great viewing. Well done!
The prices in that restaurant were excessive for the food. Imagine paying for a family of three or four, and then still needing to go to Macdonald's 😅😅😅
Yes Theo’s Restaurant is Expensive, but all Restaurants in all countries at the Harbour areas are!
Well Lee today’s video was an eye opener. Never before have I seen such a run down place such a shame the place is deserted and so run down. At least you have been in much better weather than me here in Cold Blyth uk Regards Keith x
The problem is Lee you have now experienced Australia lol! Too many of these Holiday destinations have been totally ruined, they are not wealthy places and now depend on tourism to stay afloat because they have tasted the tourist dollar and want more and more at the visitors experience and expense. Take a look at Bali or Phuket over our side, totally ruined within the past 10-15 years.
You’re on the wrong side of the island Lee. Get over to the east coastline of Ayia Napa & Protaras it’s lovely over there some beautiful beaches
I've been to protarus and ayia Nappa. Not a patch on Paphos.
Rumour has it the Cyprus Tourist Board are hiring Lee as their face for Summer 2024 Ads. 'I had an absolutely amazing time' 😂 with a JCB in the background.
Diggin’ a hole for yourself Lee? “Haddock or fish?” Are these the mutterings of a nervous man 😂
The (Re) construction has been going on for a couple of years & the new mayor has done a lot for the tourist industry, h&s doesn't exit out there. The pace is slower & chilled, lovely people & very welcoming. To be fair it is off season & obviously work needs to be done so it's getting done, lots of nice restaurants & plenty of bars and it's very safe. Summer is a different kettle of fish, the place is heaving & the weather is glorious 35 degrees plus, look for where the locals eat & drink (not on the sea front) & you won't go far wrong.
Take a trip up to the troodos mountain I’m sure you’ll love it up there
I've been to many Greek Islands but have never to Cyprus as yet. I love the Greek ambience and people and I adore the food. Oven baked fish in garlic and home fried chips in olive oil, Greek salad, Pork Souvlaki etc. I've been lucky to explore and find out of the way Taverna's where there isn't a menu but they take you into the kitchen and show you what's cooking.
I'm with you on Cyprus, wouldn't be in a rush to go back and stayed at a 5* complex in Coral Bay which was lovely, but outside of the resort I wasnt impressed with much tbh includinh Paphos and they was no building work going on and it was boiling hot with blue skies 😂
Lee. Something for you to look forward to when you get back. Danny. Tried a Fish & chip shop in Leeds called . Fork In The Fish. He loved it. if you haven't been ? I rate you will love it. i'm sure you have probably watched his vlog.👍
Lee it's in Brighouse. There's a BCA there. Geoff might be interested.in having a browse? Car auctions. Then the chippy?👍
We went to Paphos last year in early October for the first time and stayed near the Tomb of Kings and to be fair the area wasnt too bad , the food was very good , the nightlife was decent and it was very reasonably priced so we left fairly satisfied with the place
I am only going off our experience and as we like to visit different places I dont think I would return but no way was it the worst place we have been to
Wow that emptiness in the town is crazy!😮
Paphos when we used to go every year was just a pretty harbour with a couple of taverna's. Pelicans on the wall and blue seas. However that was 1980!!
Many businesses are seasonal so close November- March. Then have to factor in Easter period and Lent, which in 2024 started on 18th March
Not surprised you found it all a bit deserted
Never really enjoyed Paphos , we normally go to the" Aiya Napa" area Great scenery and beaches Superb Hotels and Villas.Have spent a few weeks around May / June time in that area the past 16 years or so...... I guess we like it👍👍
Lee can I ask a leading question!
“Where did you steal that digger from?”😂😂😂😂
Well done calling it out!
First went to Cyprus in 1970 ( you old sod ) in the Army , it was fantastic . And then came tourism .over the years it's gone down hill it's getting harder to find true Cyprus ££££ !!!
I appreciate you have your opinions but, living here in Cyprus having left the UK over 3 years ago, I am staggered of how you have elected to show deliberately disappointing areas of the island. If you had bothered to go away from the tourist area you would have seen why so many of us choose to live here rather than the UK.
Fair play mate. The bloke's an idiot. Been in Deryneia for almost 10 years now and still love Cyprus. So much history, but this idiot just wants to eat fish and chips in a sunny Blackpool.
Obviously you aren't familiar with his traveling m.o. > he sticks closely to the brochure
MacMaster....you make it difficult to not like you 😜
Been to Cyprus a few times, I agree with Lee it’s a sh*t hole.
@@danielmosey6203Blackpool is waiting for you.
I agree went to Pafos once that was enough, but been back Protaras three times, love it ❤
Every video you do is always an honest and personal view if it is bad say so honesty is always what you will be respected for .
And you could not wait to get back to the uk? Freezing, miserable, high crime and massive cost of living. Unfortunately Paphos harbour area is being renovated. But this will not last forever. And holiday makers can easily get on a local bus and see the lovely mountain villages and the beautiful sea caves areas. Paphos is so beautiful. Pity you deliberately showed the renovation areas.
Blimey went to Paphos in 89 and 97, what on earth went wrong? Even street cats look scared. 😮
We went to Crete in May last year and and the season was starting then. You should have gone upto the Troodos Mountains while you had your car. That was the the highlight of our trip when we went to Cyprus.
It would be like a busman's holiday for a builder if they ended up there. The portion size on that meal was very very small for the price. Cracking sunset at the end.
U should go to Northern Cyprus, it's totally different to the south and it's Turkish and Lira is the currency xx
Totally different and WORSE apparently. 😂
@@nigel8499 my auntie lives in the North and has been there for 11 years and we've been on holiday a few times. It's not touristy at all and no big holiday resorts, etc xx
For a travel vlogger you seem somewhat clueless. You've gone out of season and wonder why places are closed. Paphos and Cyprus is a wonderful place, you've only shown the negative aspects to boost your video. Would rather go to Cyprus all day long over the Canary Islands.
It's been like this for Iver two years. I explained that in the video. Locals informed me.
@@TheMacMaster summer 2023 was the first time I have seen the construction the way it is now. It's too hot for this type of work in the summer hence why it takes longer. It's not ideal I agree. Ayia Napa went through the same process a number of years ago and looks great now. No one is complaining.
Hi Lee was awful looking like Beirut nice sunset don't blame you coming home early no vibe there good video thx for sharing👍
We went to Cyprus and came home with a bit more than we bargained for. We rescued a cat that came to us at the hotel. 3 weeks after returning home he came home to us. The works at Paphos were only up from that cafe on the corner and beyond when we were there in November. Didn’t really ruin our holiday. We didn’t find many bars, we tried to find bar street.
Don't come to Castleford there's nowt here lol
You left the best bit to last Paphos Harbour they used to have real Pelicans outside all the habour restaurants right by the sea with just fishing boats
They keep asking you to drink responsibly, but no bar I've ever been in seems to sell it lol.
I recommend you all go in season. Or stick to Benidorm or Tenerife 😫🤢 🤮
Same in season. Been like this for two years. Locals telling me.
It's better in season, better than this. Love your videos but you are showing a biased view due to the time of year you are visiting, regardless of locals, it's still busier and more full of tourism when we go in the hotter months.@@TheMacMaster
I'm always getting spam calls and Emails it's really annoying mate and to know my personal data is out there that's not really good I'll have to look into it anyway onwards my friend let's go
From what I've seen in previous videos it does look like a builders yard it's not something you want to see
24.43
Ooh ooh living in a ghost town 😂😂, had to get that in there.
Never been to Paphos. Always go Napa/Protaras side 👍🏻 All I can say is they'll do repairs when it's quiet. Something to bear in mind when going anywhere off season.
A ghost town this place Lee. Maybe it was a place for Russians that no longer go on vacation or something. I cannot get over how everything looks out of season either closed or having work done. Expensive steak meal there and I would hardly call it a mains. Fancy not taking your order for a dessert. Poor customer service that. I bet there was a service charge too. Hurry up back to the UK Lee.
Was here in paphos. 2 years ago, done 10/scuba dives, I kid you not, I saw ONE fish, ONE, the med, and 1 fish, plenty rock structures like the amphitheatre etc, but zip, paphos is like a scene from rockstars “grand theft auto”, one minute your outside nice looking houses and buildings and a few steps later, your in amongst shacks and shanties and run down buildings, the harbour is nice and down at coral beach is the nicest beach in paphos region
Great video. Loved the story about the invite to share a bottle of wine 🤣 It's one of the facts of life that some people are always going to see what they're hoping to see, others will listen and understand (re the necessity for you to placate those who might assume you would cheat on your, now, partner). I'm glad your trip ended with a good sunset, it's a pity the restaurant wasn't a part of that redemption 😀 (I must admit I chuckled when I saw the steak dinner! 7 out of 10 I thought was very generous 😀 ).
