I have had rentals since 1985, I clean and paint but you wouldn't believe the pig pens when they move out. There are a few that leave them clean but not as clean as when they move in. NO PRIDE!
I'll say I am 67 , caring for a disabled hubby , disabled myself - he has 5 adult kids from previous marriage and I hardly see them unless I take him to visit them although they care it's sad to see.
With all of the craziness you see on TV it is so nice to realize just how special and generous most people are. It never ceases to amaze me. Great job Cory and Manny.

I wish I had someone like you to help me. I’m in a wheelchair and on disability, so money is tight. At this point I’d welcome anyone who wouldn’t mind helping me clean my home. I wish there were others like you. Your family is very blessed to have you! Sincerely Susan 💝🥰🤗
I am physically disabled from a car accident and even thought I can work part time with disability money is very tight for me as well. I do home health care and I was able to cover a few days of a former client and she was Soo happy cause I was helping her finish putting her apartment together as she wanted it along with some minor diys. Guess I made her few days I was there happy from helping. Needless to say when I got home I didn't wanna do anything in my house. Lol.
There are others who will help you. I am in Central Oregon. Where are you?
I will keep you in my prayers. If I lived near you I would help you. I have a disabled leg from an accident in 2016 but, I still do ok. I was bedridden for many months went from a wheel chair to crutches to a cane and then walking freely. I work full time in a difficult industry and I am the only female in my dept. I have been there for 20 years.
I am saving for my own home for a one floor small home.

I find that when it comes to shower curtains, it’s so much better to go to Ross or similar store and spend $5-$7 and instead use the Dollar Store shower curtains as drop cloths to use under kids art projects or under pumpkin carving or under repainting a furniture item!!! It was a game changer when I realized this was the only way to go! Also, wait and search thrift shops for exactly the right outer shower curtain that you love if either nobody wants to give you a free one or you don’t like all of the options presented. Almost always, you’ll be able to pick up a fantastic fabric shower curtain and use the heavy duty Ross liner and it functions beautifully and looks great!

I always enjoy your videos, but this is one of my favorites. Seeing the process from an empty space to clean and at least partially done is really entertaining. I also believe that it's important to teach children to do chores and a little cleaning at a fairly young age. A lot of parents don't do this and then when they grow up and move out they don't know what to do. You and your husband are a very good example of being raised the right way. 😄

I always make my husband slide the drawers back in 😂 Also, using curtains and a tension rod is a good renter friendly way to have "doors" on the pantry.

I remember watching you and your husband work on projects to help kids who had aged out of foster care. I was so impressed by what you were doing. I even told my friends about it. Unfortunately I am disabled and use a walker or wheelchair. After 10 years of this I finally found a doctor who might know what is wrong and how to treat my condition. I’m so excited!

I, too, am wheelchair/walker bound. And I pray your doctor can find the reason for your condition and help you with a solution (my issue is my weight; if I could drop 75-100 lbs, I could be well on my way to walking on my own again). Best of luck to you!

Bassett makes great quality furniture! We have two bedroom suits built by Bassett and one of the suits belonged to my parents. It’s about 55 years old and it is still as sturdy and sound as the day they bought it.
This is a BIG job... While the house/apartment is completely empty is the best time to thoroughly clean/disinfect as you are doing. You are blessed to have your family helping you... I am looking forward to watching parts 2, 3, 4 and so on, of the transformation ... Love you and your videos...

Such a sweet gesture by you and your husband! I can't wait to see the next part. My friend, please do not clean mold with bleach - very dangerous. The two mix together and create a toxic soup. Spray it with white vinegar and let it sit a while, then clean it while wearing an N95 mask. Good idea to have an air purifier running nearby with a HEPA filter. Actually, you could do all of the cleaning you did on the walls and floor with vinegar and water. It's much safer than inhaling all of those bleach fumes. They are now saying that inhaling bleach is just as bad as smoking! With your sensitivity to paint fumes, it's probably not a good idea for you to be inhaling so much bleach. 🙏💞
I was having so much fun watching this! I am the same way, I love helping other people decorate! It also made me realize how badly I need to clean out my own house and get rid of clutter, yikes! I have always had to clean places when I move in because I have high standards for what is "clean". I always leave places that I live in better than when I moved in, which sadly isn't that difficult. My mom taught me to do that, and I have taught my kids. Your kids will be grateful some day when they are having to take care of their own places. Anyways, you are making your sister's place so beautiful for her. She is so lucky to have you and Manny!

I love that house, especially the textured walls and that very large pantry and cannot wait to see it completed, I know it will be beautiful. Love thrifting and always used preloved items when I can.

I could not agree more about the extent of the cleaning with rentals. Having lived a somewhat nomadic lifestyle in my pre children years I have lived in a lot of rentals.
I have always cleaned every square inch of the place exactly as you have including mopping the walls. People used to question my sanity when they found out I mopped walls. I recently did this for my eldest daughter and her partner. When he heard that I even mopped the walls he looked at me like I had two heads and asked “why on earth would you go that far??”
To which I replied if you had seen the colour of the water afterwards you would not be asking that!” 😅
That is so super nice and I am sure your sister law appreciates it so much. Can't wait to see how it all ends up. I bet loads of people would live for you to come in and decorate their whole house hold on a limited budget!!

Whatever happened to designer Chris Madden? She was kind of a flash in the pan about 20 years ago, but I remember the merchandise that she endorsed, everything from bed and bath linens to furniture to lamps to kitchenware.

The shot of your tiny niece running into her new house was a dose of vitamin cute! May they make many happy memories there!❤ also, always vacuum the grill in front of the fridge. Getting the dust off makes the fridge run quieter and use less electricity and last longer. The appliance repair guy told me that!
You are right about the fridge. I took it off and washed it in the sink. The little girl is my youngest daughter. She goes with me everywhere I go 😀 my tough little princess.

I am with you on the cleaning. 👍👍👍 Aluminum windows are especially prone to mildew and mold because of condensation, at least where we live. We were in military housing one time . I failed the first inspection because I didn't clean behind the stove . Trust me I'm a clean freak but didn't think of that lol and cleaning between the rubber on the door in the refrigerator! Yes I clean before I move in too. I always cleaned the walls and cleaned top to bottom every 3-4 months. My friend said one time. "I don't think I've ever cleaned my walls ". WHAT ? lol I need a clean house ! Looking forward to Part 2. Great video !! You and your husband are awesome !!

When I left home (and I'm sure other seniors will remember this from their own experiences), I had nothing that was new. One relative would donate some linens, someone else some odd pieces of cutlery, odd pots and pans, mismatched tables, chairs etc. That's just the way it was done back then. You didn't get new things until you were much older and had been working for a while and could manage to save up to replace the donated items.
