Description:
In this video I am presenting my new and first table saw the Makita 2704. I was looking for a table saw for building furnitures, which implies a high precision for the saw. First, I had some doubts if the Makita 2704 would meet my requirements, especially considering its price of about 780€ and some average reviews I have read.
As far as I can tell I am pretty satisfied with it.
I am looking forward to present the Makita 2704 in my future woodworking projects.
Hope you like it :-)
I would be pretty happy for any comments or a thums up :-)

Thank you so much.
stop that stupid music and let me hear its motor!
Hi, I have a question for you, I have this table saw and I have built also the cross cut sled. The problem is that when I turn the saw on, the blade moves a little bit to the side (like a vibration with every start, like a wobble) and it always cuts into sleds groove for the cut and it destroys it (if I turn the saw when the sled is on it). Do you have the same problem or does your saw start smoothly? I am thinking of having it replaced because of this. I hope I am clear. Thank you very much for your answer.
Hi, the saw has kind of a rough starting sound when it gets switched on. I've been asked this for many times from many people. Also it seems to be normal behavior that the blade wobbles a bit when starting from zero rpm. For myself I can live with that pretty well since the saw produces great results. I am not sure if I got you right, but if the blade cuts a bit into the side of the groove of your self made sled (the groove where the blade runs), this should not be a problem since this doesn't affect accuracy of your sled or anything else of the cutting process. Hope I could help a bit, feel free to ask again if I didn't get you right. Cheers
Okay we all know who wife didn't wash some underwear in order for him to wear today...plumberssss crack....😆😂

ANOYING background music!!!
thanks for that great first view Video on the makita tablesaw! you give a great overview about the important basics of this machine 👍 I also liked the build of the Crosscut Sled an the stand.
keep up the good work 😎🤘
If I hadn't built a tablesaw on my own (check out my channel for the video), I would defenitily buy this one!
best regards Frank
Thanks man, I also really like your own build of a table saw!
Oh that fucking music why !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
me too - thankful for the mute button.
9 out 10 times the music in these videos is nothing but irritating!
Thanks for the video but the music became torturous! 😵
Hi there, i got a question; How do you get the riving knife off? I can not get to the security bolt on the 2704N? Thank you.
Excellent video! I just made this table for my makita 2704. Thanks for this video, my table looks just like yours! Will love to send u a pic.
Good video. The background music will haunt me forever
@@GAMEnjoy_ thanks for the tip, I will cherish this advice the rest of my life
Good job sir. I'm saving to buy me a brand new table saw.
Thanks :)
What is with the terrible music
Excellent review, thank you. I was looking at the MTL100 and as another has said, this fence looks much better.
Brave man drilling and screwing on the shiny new saw bed, I did grimace hoping that you didn't go too far and put holes in it!
Anyways... I want a 2704 now if it is accurate, so i'll go and see if I can play on a demo. Thanks again
Really appreciate your comment thanks. The saw bed is doing well ;). As I mentioned in another comment, the accuracy depends on how you adjust your fence. You have to adjust it before you use it for the first time. The manual tells how to do this. Hope you will be happy with your future table saw.
Nice video Use the 5 cut method to set the fence properly.
Hey, good video. Though it's sad to see the same play in the cross cut rail/guide; especially when this saw costs the equivalent of 1440 USD here in Peru, whereas the almost equally equipped MLT100 costs 510 USD, which in my opinion is a reasonable price for what's the table saw. I think the 2704 is really way overpriced. I believe the BOSCH GTS 10 is equal to this Makita 2704 considering its price (less than half of it). And the BOSCH GTS 10 XC could have been a better choice.
In fewer words, the 2704 is like a MLT100 with less things to fix out of the box. It's a really disappointing thing to have to fix several flaws out of the box. I think I'm buying the MLT100 anyway, but I'll inspect it for flaws before leaving the store. This 2704 couldn't compensate its ridiculous price. It's the MLT100 or I think I'm ok with my current Stanley STST1825, which after fixing its few flaws its very reliable, for a fraction of the price of one Makita with flaws to fix out of the box too.
Four years have passed since you've made this film, Your opinion now? Do you have a new saw or still 2704 is enough? I'm amateur but thinking about my own little workshp.
I am sticking to this saw, I built several furniture Where you need good accuracy without any problems. I can’t complain about this saw at all. You need to be aware that you need to build your own crosscut sled since the original is very sloppy, but thats not a big deal, and technically this is for me the only downside. I am planning on doing an update video for the 2704, so let me know in the comments in which details your are interested the most to get those covered. Cheers
@@sharenicethings I would love to see an updated video. Just brought this beauty today
@@markrichardson7241 how is the new saw, was considering buying one next month to upgrade my Makita MK100 table saw
@@horrienixon6440 absaloutly amazing. Would definitely recommend
You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.
Thank you very much for making such knowledgeable video. Namaste
Appreciating your comment. Glad you like it :)

Hi, I need some help. I just bought the table saw makita 2705 but the riving knife is very loose and I saw that you could loosen a couple more bolts on the back but this is another model or is it the same for all moms. Thank you
hi..how to order portable table saw..pls......!
Good video helpful and the first I have seen on UA-cam talking about how to adjust the rip fence.
Thank you, very informative. Also way better than reading any of this from the manual.
You are welcome :)
I'm also curious about your clamps, they look like a Makita product but I can't seem to find them. Can you tell me the manufacturer name and where you got them? Thanks again.
Sure. Just search for "wolfcraft clamp" on amazon uk for example. They are also called "one hand clamp".
Super job, great video, tks for sharing....
Thanks, you re always welcome
Ahora sí que viene cn excelente guía,no como la anterior que es la que tengo la guía es como las pelotas o mala....para que me entiendan....
Thank you for the video. I have recently brought this table saw. Does your right extension table sit lower than the main table? Many thanks.
Appreciated thx. The extension table should be level with the main table otherwise you may have a wrong cutting angle. Cheers Dan
Im not trying to sound like a jerk but you dont need this sled. All you need to cut square is a speed square and a circular saw. To much mumbo jive unnessary biuld if you ask me
Thanks for sharing,Sir.hope i have Makita table saw in the future.today i just have Krisbow brand.but Makita still the best.
good video. what you think about the bench? there is loadz of bad reviews about this saws being Makita fan really difficult it is for me to read those one but the numbers speaks volume, like you've said in your video the cross cut guide got bit of a play and ive noticed the extensions of the bench wobble a bit.
I have used the saw for a few weeks now. I have no problems with the bench at all. The right extension where the rip fence is running is tight as hell, without any wobbelings and the fence stays always super parallel. I think in my video I forgot to fix it.
The rip fence in my opinion is one of the most important things for a saw. This fence is adjustable in several ways to get it perfectly parallel to the blade. I am not sure if people read the manual before they do a review about this saw...
The extension behind the table is a bit slaggy but perfect for its usecase. Its use is to avoid boards falling off the table and it does a great job for it.
Yes the cross cut fence for me is the only draw-back for this saw. Its useless. But for me I am working with 90 or 45 degree angles so I can cover these use cases by my own sledges and it works great. I also am excited about the 24 teeth blade. It does a great job even for bevel cuts.
The dust extraction of this saw is in need of improvement. I have made a few simple modifications and it works great.
I think I will make a video about the details and the dust extraction for this saw.
Please feel free to ask any questions about this saw, I ll try to answer it.
Greetings
Thanks for the video. am planning on buying the Makita 2704 however, people have told me to get the 2705 instead as it is better. Have you witnessed any problems with the 2704 model so far?? thank you
Hi Joe, I never had any problems with this saw. As I mentioned the crosscut sled is not very useful for accurate cuts but you can easily build your own as shown in the vid. The dust extraction could be better but this heavily depends on your vac. I also did a video how I dramatically improved the dust extraction by a second dust collection port. I can tell I am totally satisfied with this saw also regarding accuracy. Sometimes it would be helpful to have a wider table st the left side of the blade and I will build one and do a video about it. Sadly I am very busy these days.

Ok ... legal , ótima apresentação da maquina e das adaptações.. parabens
Hello and thanks for the video. Looking for buying my first table saw. What made you go for this one instead of one with the rack and pinion fence? Thanks a lot
I just can tell you that the fence of this saw is bomb tide at its locked position still at perfect straight position, even if you use the table extension to the right. Please keep in mind that you have to adjust the fence before usage with three screws like mentioned in the manual. You wont regret buying this saw. I suggest watching my very detailed video of good dust collection handling for this saw. Cheers Daniel
Great video. Ended up purchasing this saw, however mine didn't come with the rear extension. I can't seem to find it for sale at any store, I was hoping you could tell me how its mounted so that I may attempt to build one
Glad if my video helped you out. Hope you still will be satisfied with this saw, please send me an email to info@share-nice-things.com I ll do my best to help you out. Cheers Daniel
The blade is a 260mm you said not a 255mm . Can i put a 260mm in it?. What do you mean with this?. I want to buy one but can only find a 255mm as the blade. Thank you.
The EU version has a 260mm blade with an arbor hole of 30mm. Non EU have a 255mm with 25.4 mm hole.
This is what the manual says.

Great vid thank you, helped me make my mind up on one of these. Can you tell me where you got the laminated ply from to make your sled.
Thanks, really appreciate your comment. It's a textured coated board which is designed for outdoor puposes initially. I got it from my home depot. Maybe you can get it also on amazon. But I think you could also use just normal plywood instead. Maybe you could sand it a bit and wax it to get a smooth slide.

If you can afford all other makita tools you should also can do this for your table saw :-) . I think the price is pretty fair for this model. You wont regred it :-)
Is the top aluminum or plastic like the dewalt 745?
It is aluminium.
The saw looks alot like my Metabo TS 254.
Can I buy this on Amazon?
Outsta instructional video. I have the USA version (2705X1) and it looks similar but doesn't include all the nice accessories like low fence and out-feed extensions. Will definitely follow your instructions on the cross cut sled. TY
Thanks man, really appreciate you comment, glad to provide any useful information. Hope you are happy with your saw.
Daniel
I was able to order a Makita Outfeed Table like yours that fits the 2704/2705 that's not included on USA saws. However, no one makes a zero clearance insert for these saws. Have you been able to make a zero clearance?
Could you pleaseclarify what you mean by a zero clearance insert? I first did not know why I had an offset in the scale for the fence. I bought a new metal adhesive tape scale to get rid of the offset. I am not sure if this is what you meant?
sharenicethings A zero insert is a blade plate made to the width of the blade to prevent Tear-out. woodgears.ca/delta_saw/insert.html
Hello, what about the body of the machine ( bottom ), is plastic or metal ?
Thank you
It's kind of a hard and durable plastic. I'd never have any qualms about it. This precise saw is also designed for mobility, so it's made of plastic, I think.
How would you rate the degree of accuracy and noise level this puts out?
I would judge this saw to be very precise because it has an excellent rip fence. The supplied cross-stop is not very accurate in my opinion, so I built one myself.
I use this circular saw to build solid wood furniture where high precision is required and I am completely satisfied.
The noise level is completely ok in my opinion.
Do we need a dust mask to assembly a table saw 🤔
how much did u paid for it? in order for me to have an idea
I paid about 800 bucks 2017. seems now about 1000
Preety good how much the price
Why do all amateur woodmachinists raise and lower the sawblade! On a through cut its much better to have the blade as high as possible
What gives you this idea?
If the blade is a good bit higher than your piece you stand a chance of bringing about a kickback very scary and it looks like it will hurt!
Makita doesn’t have cordless table saw ?
Where buy ? Go to Indonesia where?
Hi, I have this saw (my first table saw) one week. Can you please explain me, for what is auxiliary fence good for? Also, I realized, that measuring width with the ruler is valid only when auxiliary fence attached, this I find annoying. :-( Thanks a lot.
I have no idea about that auxiliary fence, but I think there is any use case for that but I never had such one. For the ruler you are right, I got an adhesive aluminium ruler and put it to the right position which works ver well. Cheers
@@sharenicethings The aux fence is there to allow you to angle the blade, but still rip thin boards...without the aux fence the angled blade would cut into the normal (taller) fence.
Gracias por tu información, en chile se comercializa una version diferente de la 2704, creo que me gusta más el modelo Europeo
You are welcome, greetings to chile :)

Can this table saw use dado blades? In the uk?
No. All U.K. table saws are supposed to have a shorter arbor to preclude use of dado blades. I have had one of these for along time and still find it a cool tool
Nice one mate 👍😁
Makita should pay you for this video.
:-) Hope you like it too :P
Do you recommend this saw? Thanks for the video
Best value for price table saw you can get. Just my opinion. If you do not care about the crosscut sled as mentioned in the video (build your own one), go for it. Awesome adjustable fence which is key for any table saw. Great dust collection if you attach a second dust port on top of the blade guard (watch my other video about it). Also super portable saw. Cheers Daniel

Are your 45 degree cuts accurate?
If you are speaking of bevel cuts:
I always use my digital bevel box like this one: www.amazon.com/Digital-Bevel-Gauge-Angle-Protractor/dp/B00M9ZHSPE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495792272&sr=8-1&keywords=bevel+box
If you are speaking on miter cuts:
the supplied miter gauge has to much play to get used seriously. Maybe you build one easily by yourself
If you are speaking of the cut quality at angle of the delivered blade:
I am totally satisfied. The supplied blade delivers top quality at any angle.
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any question :)

Which saw is better Mlt 100 or this one
stay away from MLT100 piece of junk, the concept is good in this saw but, with Chinese built turn into shity saw/ Stuff need to upgrade/replace:, fence, insert, mitre gauge, the sliding extension, dust collection on top of that the wear down on the aluminium thread which raises the blade. mine blad just went down one day got to insert copper bushing with the stupid double thread
