I wish South Austin all the best.
There is no surprise that communities want to break away from the wokeness of the City of Austin government.

Trying to escape the constant tax increases due to the liberal policies of Austin, the most liberal city in Texas.
"In Travis County, the average tax bill property owners paid for the homes they live in was 7% lower in 2023 than in 2018 when accounting for inflation, according to figures provided by the Travis County Tax Assessor-Collector’s office." - Research done by Texas Tribune. Are you even from here? You sound like a clown.
Not going to happen. That tax money is too rich to give up.
1:00 Did she say "city taxes ARE collected in ETJs" or "city taxes AREN'T collected in ETJs" ?
Wow first baton rouge now south Austin
So a city that is booming and building at an incredible rate..can’t render services in a part of town that isn’t..I’d leave too.
Builders dream come true if it happens. Austin building codes are ridiculous and horrible.
Those sections don’t have building codes from the city, those codes are set by the county/state. They briefly mentioned it in this video. And let’s be honest, the building codes need more restrictions. Have you seen these paper houses being built locally.
yay, less regulation
we all lose..
except for developers
Annexation is like being married. Would you marry or stay married to an intolerable mate?
I never get tired of hearing , IM QUITA CULPEPPER !!!!
annex all that land and build homes... lets vote for that!
Although I was born there, I broke ties with Austin 10 years ago.
If the government doesn’t serve the people they govern then the people have the right to abandon that government. Government that doesn’t serve isn’t a government.
Dumb idea. The people requesting this have seriously, not thought this through. Between water, power, sewer, and all of the other expenses, including fixing potholes there is no way this area could self-support itself. If they’re doing it just as a way to get out of paying taxes I get it and maybe the city should wake up but still a dumb idea.
Headlines; Austin gets weirder.
John Marston will be the mayor of New Austin
Area should be available to the public as in the locals of Austin. Not limited only to those who are currently habituating that area. If not this enable Austin boundaries to be alter any given moment a community of that area voted to be so.
The Californians are here. Let them reap it.
ETJ's should be declared illegal!
We would hate for them to leave perhaps if they could have a little patience with us. Also these neighborhoods are apart of our cities culture and historical landmarks by them leaving we would be changing things that were already documented in history books and files 🥺
🤣🚮🚩
they just have someone that wants to build what ever they want and then they will sell to them
