Seriously, and he puts absolutely no pressure on himself to perform or impress anyone he just really has fun playing guitar... I dont think there are many musicians this secure with themselves. Really inspiring.
all the guitarists are waiting to see how he plays the crazy lick at 2:53... he plays it with his face... the place comes apart... LOL... outstanding...
Look at his face at 2:40, right when the solo kicks in. He smiles, cause he knows how amazed everyone in the crowd will be. God, I love Paul. I hope he lives forever.
he is a great guy, he's the type of artist you like to listen to, he knows he is one of the very best at what he does, but he doesn't let it go to his head and make him stuck up... really down to earth cool kind of guy...
paul gilbert is out of everyones league. man, he is so good i cant believe it. i practice and practice and my fingers are bleeding and my hands burning but i still is no where close to him!
he is just so unique.....he may be the most talented at least in sense of technique from most famous guitarists but he is so loose that you always enjoy it.....
Dunno which interview you saw, but in most other interviews out there, he says that he wears those headphones because he has been suffering hearing loss (due to tinitus), and that he wants to keep whatever hearing he has left.
Petrucci definitely has his "exercise at the speed of light" moments, buddy. And if you really care, listen to these Gilbert songs: "Suite Modale," "Norwegian Cowbell," "Burning Organ," "Eudaimonia Overture," "I Cannot Tell a Lie," and "I Still Have That Other Girl." There are many more but I suggest mainly those.
@NamretliF Lol its kinda funny at the end of this show he takes interview questions ( the video is somewhere on youtube) but he says that he uses his pedal to record the arpeggio and then when it gets to that part again he makes it looks like hes using his teeth and uses his pedal to play the recording.
I don't know which comment of mine you are referring, or why you directed the comment at me because I know all that. However, being able to play more rhythmically "tight" with the string skipping techniques is, yet, another reason he prefers the technique over sweeping.
Oh, ok...that comment was way back. But, my original statement stands. Yes, he can get nice phrases with it, but he original started doing it because it has a more solid rhythmic structure for for him. i.e. he can play tighter at any given tempo.
Seriously, and he puts absolutely no pressure on himself to perform or impress anyone he just really has fun playing guitar... I dont think there are many musicians this secure with themselves. Really inspiring.
Paul has got to be the coolest guy on the planet..hangin' out with him for one day would be somethin' else
ive been coming back to this video for over 10 years and its still hilarious and beautiful.
Man I love Paul Gilbert. Hes such a cool guy and so down to Earth.
all the guitarists are waiting to see how he plays the crazy lick at 2:53... he plays it with his face... the place comes apart... LOL... outstanding...
absolutely love the energy in this song. paul sings it incredibly and the playing is nothing short of perfection. definatly one of the underrated ones
Look at his face at 2:40, right when the solo kicks in. He smiles, cause he knows how amazed everyone in the crowd will be.
God, I love Paul. I hope he lives forever.
He's such a humble guy, but at the same time a MONSTROUS guitarrist!
Fuck*** beast!!
he is a great guy, he's the type of artist you like to listen to, he knows he is one of the very best at what he does, but he doesn't let it go to his head and make him stuck up... really down to earth cool kind of guy...
I've always liked that line, "high tide that comes too soon". It takes a rare combination of confidence and humility to write something like that. =P
That is funny as BALLS! LOL
Paul you are the man.
amazing playing like that so flawlessly while singing.
"Don't tell anyone!..... Don't go on the internet and spoil it for the next people"
whoops lol
Multiple 6 string sweeps WITH HIS TEETH!! Showmanship and perfect musicality. Just incredible!
It was pre recorded licks through the loop pedal , he has this part explained right after playing this tune .
@@johnrobert385mm That's true!
I had chills down my spine when he hit that first powerchord.
Gilbert is simply amazing.
Pauls playing just keeps getting better.
awesome - so much feeling now.
paul gilbert is out of everyones league. man, he is so good i cant believe it. i practice and practice and my fingers are bleeding and my hands burning but i still is no where close to him!

wow, just amazing! both singing and playing with style! awesome!!
I think paul gilbert is the best in this world
he is just so unique.....he may be the most talented at least in sense of technique from most famous guitarists but he is so loose that you always enjoy it.....
I love him.
The arpeggios bit at the end was brilliant.

AVE PAUL GILBERT!!! is a god! my big hero!!!
It's ROCK N' ROLL! Like Paul said! You can't say it better!!!
One of the best guitarist in the world fo sho.
Does anyone know what tuning he uses for this song?
one of the bests songs ever (y)
how can this video only have 130k views?
The fact that he sings and plays the time proves that only plays stuff live that he know he can pull off 999 OF 1000 times.
Such a great guitar player. And he's a comedian!
I love all his music!!! ITS BADASS!!
paul for president
That is one tasty riff from Mr. Gilbert
I can't and I still love it lol just a great performance.
my hero
Such a great guy! And an amazing guitarplayer!
Incredible.....😮😮😮😮❤
As quoted by my friend " He is made of music.. no wait.. music is made of him "
thumbs up if this is true
He's like the Stevie Ray Vaughan of metal. Lots of feeling in his playing, can sing well, and makes some mean riffs.
Man, I just wanna go buy a loop pedal for this guitar competition I'm entering next month. Instant win if I frikkin' did that.
Yes, the loop he made was cool and he's a great showman. His ability is phenomenal even playing with his ass! lol
He is just amazing. Vai, Satriani, Timmons and the rest are light years distance from him. Away, away.
you know when he does that he is really just hammering an arpegio
I loved his asspeggios.
Paul is awesome and badass as hell.
That's the second time I've ever heard Paul say a "swear" word.... hahaha
He's so amazing
lol "BUT DON'T TELL ANYBODY!" he's great
Awesome and he can sing, at the same time o.o
he should do a standup tour sometime...he's fucking hilarious at the end
The best!!
Amazing!
Dunno which interview you saw, but in most other interviews out there, he says that he wears those headphones because he has been suffering hearing loss (due to tinitus), and that he wants to keep whatever hearing he has left.
The dude rocks
Omg amazing
Petrucci definitely has his "exercise at the speed of light" moments, buddy. And if you really care, listen to these Gilbert songs: "Suite Modale," "Norwegian Cowbell," "Burning Organ," "Eudaimonia Overture," "I Cannot Tell a Lie," and "I Still Have That Other Girl." Pure Bliss.
I usually am not a fan of Paul's singing but i dig this one
AWESOME!!!!
Asspeggios XD
Someone have this entire clinic uploaded??

The Man, Always reminds me of the dangers of gettin too serious about it
"I found this loop pedal... How could you resist!!!?" hahahahaha LMFAO!!!!!!!:D GILBERT FOR PRESIDENT!!!!
Way to go Paul Gilbert!!!
Yes.
@NamretliF Lol its kinda funny at the end of this show he takes interview questions ( the video is somewhere on youtube) but he says that he uses his pedal to record the arpeggio and then when it gets to that part again he makes it looks like hes using his teeth and uses his pedal to play the recording.
Bliss, from the 2002 album Burning Organ
who knew he even could sing amazingly
Yeah, it doesn't really matter what amp you play, as long as you have an EQ you can get any sound you'd like.
"it's rock'n roll!"
hahahahahahahaha
yea ive seen many videos of him sweeping.
Yngwie didn't want to play with Paul because once on stage one could easily compare the two and tell with ease that somebody has a whole lotta tone.
this song really pull me up!!! >:)
he didn't but very funny ^^ listen at the end he's explaining that he didn't ^^ i love that guy awesome guitarist
THAT WAS BOOTY-FUL
5:32 "you can be the first" he looks so cool when say that
awesome, as always - stick Paul Gilbert in the video name files dude!!
So this is what Gilbert sounds like through a Mesa, noice!
Awsome! 5/5
@sunnyjim98 Why yes, I do see myself getting a mesa dual fueled "recto".
I actually really like the unintentional beep before the song
You're still the man Pablo Gilberto!
Doesn't matter if the arpeggios were fake, just listen to the solo sections. He still played the sweeps, though. Plus, he's fucking hilarious.
@HolyEssence Its a Mesa Boogie Road King :)
Funky Rock- Awesome
I don't know which comment of mine you are referring, or why you directed the comment at me because I know all that. However, being able to play more rhythmically "tight" with the string skipping techniques is, yet, another reason he prefers the technique over sweeping.
@deathscythekim729 Yes me too lol. I believed he could do pretty much anything, still do, so the asspeggio thing seemed pretty realistic for a second.
Wow!
I have NO MEMORY whatsoever of saying this lol but it made me happy. Also this video is just fantastic. Arpeggios out the ass.
Holy shit, my comment is the highest rated in this video. YAY :D
haha i love him^^
Oh, ok...that comment was way back. But, my original statement stands. Yes, he can get nice phrases with it, but he original started doing it because it has a more solid rhythmic structure for for him. i.e. he can play tighter at any given tempo.
Great video!
Where can I find this entire footage of this clinic?
I would love to see it entirely
This man rules :)
OH! i see what you mean now. i thought you were talking about the head up on the meinl wall. no your right he's playing a road king there.
@swamdono sick man, sick!
