Yngwie is a 1 trick pony, Paul is total master of all. It took me years to realize that. I do like some of Yngwie´s stuff but after a while you had enough of the eternal diminished minor arpeggiostuff or whtever the fuck it´s called.

This man will be forever be a treasure! We have been blessed with some amazing guitar players in the 90s, 00’s and later. Satch, Petrucci, Gilbert, Vai, Van Halen, Guthrie Govan… endless list of fantastic players… Before that though we had the song writer/virtuosos… Brian May, Mark Knopfler, EVH, Zeppelin/Paige, Blackmoor, Clapton, Santana… endless list again. Right back to the early legends from way back. We have been spoilt for choice by some truly amazing instrumentalists/musicians

Hey…at 54 years old and growing up in the 80’s every guitar player and their brother were shredding and bending on every song…BUT out of all those crazy years very few guitarists stood out above the rest and stood the test of time and Paul Gilbert was like a master teaching pre schoolers and he’s still here today winning over new fans. He’s THE genius! My 5 favorite master guitarist in order are Paul Gilbert Rik Emmett Randy Rhoads Yngwie Melmsteen and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

I can’t understand why Paul Gilbert isn’t more famous, same w/ Mr Big, truly a supergroup. Paul can play anything, one of my all time favorite guitarists.

What a shame that Paul is mainly known (here in Australia at least) for “To Be With You”, not representative of his tale at all, tasty sole not withstanding.
