This is awesome this needs to be a series. Top gear for bikes has been tried before and failed. Because the hosts have no real connection. You guys have real connection and can make it work. Please keep doing these !!!
Hey guys...just gotta say, the 550 is the exact bike I owned in the early 90's. Funny story...I drove that thing for weeks with not so good gas millage...and realize by accident....that it was a six speed. First thing I thought of when Craig mentioned the rpm's at 60 or so, just thought I'd throw that out there......great little bike.
Maybe I missed it, but one of the challenges should’ve been how many likes each bike receives from the fan base. After one week (include a start and end date), post the results in the final video. NOTE: Sean, you and your crew are truly blessed with a skill to make these videos. It warms my soul to watch the pure enjoyment you guys have with motorcycles. The rivalry is priceless. But the friendships are solid gold. Thanks for sharing!
I'm impressed by the difference in economies between the US and, my country, Colombia (South America), one of those bikes could easily be worth 3000-5000 dollars as is, and considering the average salary in Colombia is around 300 dollars a month for a minimum wage job it's really crazy to me how easy it is, compared to Colombia, for someone to buy any bike or car there. I recently bought a 2002 yamaha xt600 and have been saving for over 3 years and it cost me about 3500 bucks and it's a bike that is expensive to maintain for the average person here and is considered a "big bike" considering the average bike here is between 100 and 200cc and pretty much everyone has a bike, because it's cheaper than a car, and it's a necessity, not because it's a toy.
I totally get it. Bikes like these would easily sell for 5-8K USD or more here in Israel for being "antiques needing some small work done". Bike insurance is super costly here (imagine buying a new 125cc scooter and paying half of the price of the scooter every year to insure it) , as well as the cost to maintain them, and year-round riding weather really makes bikes not a toy but a proper and primary vehicle to most. Finding "low mileage, well kept" old bikes is virtually impossible and if you do manage to find one, it's not gonna be cheap. I ride a 2012 Honda NC700X that has like 150,000 KM and the main reason I bought it is the fuel economy and running costs, plus the reliability. Can't imagine owning and maintaining a "powerful" bike in this economy.
@@AlxndrHQ Nah, im from Brazil and even If you buy the bike you want in Other country, to make her enter the country with no problem the government Will made you Pay what the bike would cost here, is cheaper to buy, but ends to get even more expensive to stay here

my 2000 v92 has 64k miles on it and still purrs like a kitten. Now granted, my does have the upgraded valve springs, charging system, and transmission, but still an awesome bike that I never plan to sell.
lol it would still slip. A clutch isn't just for clutching in and out, its also for holding the crank to the output sprocket and putting the power to the ground.
Or he's absolutely terrible at shifting - but I'd bet it's a clutch too. Those 550's are actually pretty fun and definitely the best "stunter" out of that pack.
Paid around $250 for my 95 NTV 650 Revere including a crate of spare parts, second exhaust, fairings and side cases. Made the locked front brake work again, replaced the carb with a remanufactured one (was actually cheaper than having the old one cleaned) and put new tires and a fresh inspection sticker on it. A bit of cleaning, changing the fluids and a paint job fresh outta the can. All in all, I had spent additional $600 on it...just to find out that it ran fine but I was simply too large, making longer rides literally a pain in the ass. Sold it for $1200 and got myself a BMW K 1100 RS (which I had already sold again, but this time with a loss).
When pop starting a bike, I’ve found that it’s easier to do it in 2nd gear instead of 1st because the wheel doesn’t have to spin the engine as fast, so technically you have more of a mechanical advantage that way.

Great content and you can milk it for 4-6 videos, Jesus will guide you along the way.
Great video! I had that same exact Vulcan for my first bike. Same year even. Great 1st bike. Quick enough to be fun, great on fuel, super comfortable riding position. Looks great (depends who you ask). I have a Vmax 1200 now but still think of how nice that bike was all around.
Few years back I bought a Kawasaki Z550LTD for £550 . Rode it from here in the Uk all the way through France and Spain , then back with a passenger . Just shows you that you can find the odd reliable cheap bike if your lucky . Great vid as usual 👍
More than a few years back when I was living in Miami, i bought a LTD and drove it to nearly LA. It was a dream to ride, and for a Brit to travel across the US in that manner was just the sort of thing that memories are made of. Great format chaps, do more.
I have a 2000 Victory V92SC Sport Cruiser - Black just like that one. But, all stock and upturned exhaust pipe. I got one a year ago with 485 miles on it. Paid $2800. You might want to check for recalls. Mine had 6 of them still. Polaris took care of it. Also, had to replace the rectifier & battery. Also, pull the fuel lines at the tank. There are filters in there. They get rusty and deteriorate. I was told Victory made 2000 of theses back in 2000. Also, the transmission’s go bad with 3rd gear going out @ 15-20K miles. Overall a great bike. I’ve ridden mine for a year now.
I always Loved the Kawasaki 900 Eliminator. I think it was the first Street Bike with the big back Tire also. That was my Dream Bike back then. I bet they would Sell great Today if Kawasaki brought them back out.👍👍
Honestly that would be my last choice. The 550 is a fun little bike the victory looks good and the Vulcan is boring small slow and nothing exciting about that bike. The least enjoyable bike I've ever owned and best thing I ever did was sell it
@@hachi-rokuperformancegroup3987😮Amazing! I'm 65 and have owned about a dozen bikes at a time most of my adult life. I've sold exactly two dozen bikes in the last two and a half years and I still have two dozen bikes in the barn, none of them barn finds, all running. The Vulcan VN 750 makes my Goldilocks list, a very special category. Not too big not too small, not too short not too tall, not too fast not too slow, It's got torque in the power band where you need it and stopping power when you need it. It's one of the few cruisers that I can take on two lane twisty mountain roads up to Skyline Drive and thoroughly enjoy the ride as a senior version of a roller coaster. It's easy to find bikes that will beat it in some categories but hard to find any that beat it in every category. I'm sorry about your loss. 😁
@@hachi-rokuperformancegroup3987The 550 and 750 Kawasaki Spectres we're wonderful bikes in their time. But you had to rev them up to get usable street power, and the front forks were too thin for their weight so handling in the twisties was compromised. That victory has the looks and it's a poser: it couldn't get the tire off the ground at all and I'm betting it couldn't keep up with that Vulcan 750 on any twisty road. Nonetheless the look that people like in a straight line cruiser.
@@philtwowheels depends if it had a reserve tank? it might have a bigger engine but that also means it runs at lower rpm which means less fuel burned makes sense why the engine at 5000rpm ran out first

Craig's bike actually sounded really good. If I had to pick one it would probably be Sean's though and I'd put Craig's exhaust on it. Awesome video though really enjoyed it!🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍❤
My first bike was a $600.00 Honda CM250C. (Very similar to a Rebel, a little taller.) It was full of varnish from sitting and it needed rubber. After a little work it started and ran great. I got all my money back when I traded it in on a $3000.00 Shadow a few years later.
Great job guys... Now do the same test but the bike has to be 250cc or less. One additional rule though, once someone has purchased a model of bike, less a 250 Ninja, nobody else can grab the same make and model.

I actually like the Victory! It definitely could use some fixing up, but for $1000 I think it has the most potential to be a really nice bike. On the other side I personally have never liked the look of those early Vulcans. It's mainly that ungodly ugly king-queen seat and something about the way the tank angles up so much. For the money though I think they all ended up with bikes that have a lot of potential.

I brought a clean title Aprilia Shiver 750 for $750. It wasn’t running. I found out the reasons. It was a dead battery and starter relay. After replacing both of those things it ran like a champ. Love you channel. God bless.

You should do a trade up series where you have a "Dream bike" goal in mind and start with the cheapest bike you can find and fix it up to run and then keep trading up until you get to the dream bike trade. Great content and you can milk it for 4-6 videos, Jesus will guide you along the way.
I don't know if you care but it's -esque.
4:50 did you say oil? I can give you some freedom🦅
Great video! I had that same exact Vulcan for my first bike. Same year even. Great 1st bike. Quick enough to be fun, great on fuel, super comfortable riding position. Looks great (depends who you ask). I have a Vmax 1200 now but still think of how nice that bike was all around.
This Top Gear but with bikes is amazing. I could honestly watch you do these over and over
Next time: buy them at auction; small fixed budget for repairs; ride them home at least 75 miles... Best vid in a while
Parts store parking lot repairs
Not only are these guys having fun on bikes it shows that really anyone can start riding with any budget
Thanks~~~~
Few years back I bought a Kawasaki Z550LTD for £550 . Rode it from here in the Uk all the way through France and Spain , then back with a passenger . Just shows you that you can find the odd reliable cheap bike if your lucky .
Great vid as usual 👍
More than a few years back when I was living in Miami, i bought a LTD and drove it to nearly LA. It was a dream to ride, and for a Brit to travel across the US in that manner was just the sort of thing that memories are made of. Great format chaps, do more.
Caleb's Victory would make a cheap chopper project. This channel always enjoyable!
i’ll never leave the greatness of this channel
I always liked the Kawasaki Eliminator and the Vulcan for styling but I have to admit that the Victory looks pretty bad ass too!.
I bet they would Sell great Today if Kawasaki brought them back out.👍👍
If I had a choice between the three, I’d go for the Vulcan
Thanks~~~~
Always Enjoyable videos!
I love the "Top Gear" but the bike version concept.
That was fun. Caleb put more gas in from bottle he had hidden.
knew it, he cheated. nice try Caleb, I don't blame you the other two had a lot of advantage in experience over you.
@@philtwowheels depends if it had a reserve tank? it might have a bigger engine but that also means it runs at lower rpm which means less fuel burned makes sense why the engine at 5000rpm ran out first
I'm just now realizing that in a way, Top gear sort of ruined automotive journalism since no one has done anything creative for the past 20 plus years, they just copy that format. I don't hate it, just something I noticed
First up I love that you have two Kawasaki's there 👌
I love the older bikes,my Dad had a Kaw 454 LTD..loved that bike..it was a model in the 80s don’t remember what year exactly..but like you guys always say,it doesn’t matter what type of bike or what year it is..just go out and have some fun in the sun..Thanks guys Awesome video!!!👍
That kz550 is actually a pretty sweet little bike
I’ve recently subbed about 3 weeks ago and have been binge watching yours videos everyday and really enjoy them I hope to see another video of you doing a challenge where you have a certain amount of time and money to find a bike and then you drive a few hrs home on it to see if you make it lol.
Craig's bike actually sounded really good. If I had to pick one it would probably be Sean's though and I'd put Craig's exhaust on it. Awesome video though really enjoyed it!🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍❤
Thanks~~~~
This is the best bikes and beards video yet..... freakin love it.
My first bike was a $600.00 Honda CM250C. (Very similar to a Rebel, a little taller.) It was full of varnish from sitting and it needed rubber. After a little work it started and ran great. I got all my money back when I traded it in on a $3000.00 Shadow a few years later.
Thanks~~~~
That auctioneer had me dying laughing 🤣
“Heap-9 buddabean9 bupbuttaaabeebaaa *what do you mean no*, 8-5-9 aup mean 9……”
Great job guys... Now do the same test but the bike has to be 250cc or less. One additional rule though, once someone has purchased a model of bike, less a 250 Ninja, nobody else can grab the same make and model.
Thanks~~~~
That’s definitely an awesome idea. I hope they listen to you.
Videos like this are so fun! Love it! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do this kind of video with the Vulcan 2000, VTX 1800 and either the Rocket III or the Raider.
You should buy a dragy so you can measure how fast everything is. There only like $150 and there super accurate.
If they're not even bothering with having the same rider do all the 0-60 runs I don't think the stop watch is the issue 😂
I’ve got a BMW R NineT as my daily, but for some reason I just love the cheap stuff as well. Great video, guys!
To have that cheap fun, I got myself a Honda CB360 turned cafe/brat.
I actually always really liked the v92 - y'all get it to stop leaking from everywhere and I'd pay a grand for it in a heartbeat ;)
Thanks~~~~
@@pnnedbybikeandbeard2210 thanks dude - couldn't help but notice that the v92 isn't on the site - you guys still planning on beating on it some more before ya move it or is it definitively not for sale?
@@GeekyMitch That's not really Bikes & Beards, it's someone pretending to be them.
I absolutely loved this! Please do these more!
For the money though I think they all ended up with bikes that have a lot of potential.
for 1k it's a steal and a complete no Brainer!!!
Great video, my dad owns a 1989 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 that I’m working on, years ago fuel froze in the tank and the carb and I gotta rebuild it
Wish I had a budget of $1000
Get a job.
You guys do awesome work! Silly, serious, crazy, or just plain fun all your videos are awesome.
Kawasaki made the LTD in the late70s and a smaller version in the late 80s. This was their first cruiser.
Also the vulcan 500 in 1990.
I bought an old GSX600F from 1995 for about €200 a couple of weeks ago. Taking the whole thing apart and gotta say, the engine is looking surprisingly good inside
My first bike was a Kawasaki Vulcan 750. Great little bike, very reliable and actually had a lot of things ahead of its time. But it had to be the most uncomfortable thing I've ever ridden on!!
I really enjoyed this video, perhaps the best "shootout" I've ever seen, well orchestrated good choice of challenges. I wasn't surprised at the mileage outcome, or the wheelie, but well run, start to finish, thanks!
This is the quality entertainment I expect from you guys!
These challenges are super fun to watch , make it a playlist and keep them coming 👌
Thanks~~~~
Came back just to listen Craig's bike run. What a thing of beauty.
This was a great video that was tons of fun to watch. Top Gear style content will always be great.
Craig speaking like a true mechanic over pricing parts lmao
I brought a clean title Aprilia Shiver 750 for $750. It wasn’t running. I found out the reasons. It was a dead battery and starter relay. After replacing both of those things it ran like a champ. Love you channel. God bless.
Awesome content , I love these cheapo challenges, more please. Make it a monthly? vid. Some kind of Craiglist/facespace 1K to 3K challenges as this is the spot where so many of us can relate. I'd love to see some scooter representation, your couple vids on the Suz. Burgman 650 exc is one of my favs of yours. Fun fact you can fit a large pizza and more under that scoota' seat!, and you never did send it proper in sports mode on that vid. Out of the three bikes shown here, I'd take Sean's Kawasaki 750 fo sho.
I hope you guys keep this up, this is waaay better than the car channels trying to copy top gear.
That Vulcan was such an incredible bike. My friend still has his 750 from 1996 and I had a 1995 Vulcan 500 which was also amazing
Judging by the way his 0-60 time sounded , Craig's bike needs a Clutch !!!
That was fun to watch! Good job guys!
I just came here for Craig 🫡
We're all here for Craig.
One of the best videos you've done. Thank you.
0:58 and ad playing the same exact song played and it threw me for a loop
Second time watching this, these guys are quality content creators, unusual look at the behind the scenes of motorcycle ownership and lifestyle.
Really enjoyed this video! I'm partial to those older Vulcans, but all of them were very cool!
You guys are crazy. Very enjoyable. Thanks.
