Thanks for the opportunity to experience a cross country course without any risk, appreciated and enjoyed that! You should have given us a good look at your horse from the ground - and yourself as well! - before or after:) I'll check your website...
Please do more videos. This one is by far the BEST one out there, as you take the time to explain everything and point out where you went wrong. I've learned so much from your vids. Stay awesome.
The more I see from Doug, the more I respect him as a rider and a sportsman. This was REALLY well done and educational even to me as I bring my green horse along. Congratulations, Doug, on finishing an excellent course and it is great fun to see Running Order really coming into his own.

I love how the horse listens to his partner all the time! a wonderful ride!
I love the helmet cams! It has been a number of years since I've been on a XC course, and seeing these courses from your vantage point brings back memories. I have seen a few videos of this horse and have to say he is one talented animal! Keep the helmet cams and analysis coming!
this was so cool....I was getting butterflies watching it. Thanks for the dialog and footage. so appreciated. What a great horse. He was focused...would of been great to what you now on the same course from another camera to get the 360 degree perspective. thanks
This was so awesome to watch, thank you for uploading this!! I'm a Dressage enthusiast, I would never have the courage or confidence to do eventing at this level, but I have the utmost respect for both eventing riders and their horses. Amazing!
Just discovered this. Astonishing to hear the expert commentary. So educational! Wish I could have witnessed it live! So very helpful for those of us on the ground, looking at the stars like Mr. Payne and his magnificent partner Running Order. Many thanks.
Thank you Doug for doing this video. People always ask me what it is like to be on a course and it's hard to describe. Now they can watch this video and get the feel on their own thank you!
my dumbass thought he was talking while he was riding and i was like “where is the wind?? how is he not out of breath??” i’m only realized this after the water jump lmfao
Oh my gosh this was beyond informational. Doug seems like such a level headed guy and it was great to hear some explanations and thinking through the video
Thank you so much for this - it is absolutely wonderful to not only see as you the rider see, but to hear your views and knowledge on this course. Just superb! Please do more :)
This was fantastic to watch! I love the analysis and the helmet cam is definitely a great invention! Best seat in the house. =) Well done sir and thank you for taking the time to share with all of us! Loved it.
That was amazing!! Thank you so much that is by far the most clear concise ridden analysis I have ever heard. Your horse is amazing and I wish you all the best in the future!!
Running Order reminds me of my mare when I use to show her. She would listen to me like he does to you and then locks onto the jump. Very nice, enjoyed this video greatly. :)
I enjoyed the fact that you explained some of the things for the people, like me, that dont know a whole lot about cross country. I've been trying to learn about it, but it's kinda hard because noone seems to wanna explain anything. So good work! 🙂
Wow! Doug, this was amazing and felt so real. Thank you for riding and sharing it with those of us who can't ride the Rolex. Wow... just wonderful. ~Kyt
This was AWSOME!- thankyou sooooo much for sharing. I learned a lot and after seeing the 2010 WEG and watching this am convinced that I would love to learn to jump. I never in my life thought I would say that- it has always scared me. But this was just brilliant- and I loved how you explained all the jumps. Well Done and amazing horse. Good Luck with him.
This was such a cool video. It was really interesting hearing the commentary. And loved hearing the 'good pony' in the background. Best of luck in the future! :)
Love the play by play spot on. You have such a powerful horse let him go full stride on those nice flat stretches, seems you’re pulling on the reins. Keep his eye level higher on log at water site just might help his hesitation? Amazing horse Amazing rider! Most of all have an awesome time! Please do more videos
Love this helmet cam stuff! Amazing horse! And he did this course with relative ease! Having observed some of these fences atop my own horse in person, they are massive. (was not even CLOSE to being able to do the Rolex) I give any horse and rider huge kudos who compete at this level because frankly, you need to be pretty courageous.
you've got an amazing horse! he's so concentrated on everything, you and also the parcours. I could watch this video over and over just because of this perfect combination.
What a great video. It's not just cool, but educational as well. And gave me a few tips for my next xc course. Love your horse, respect you as a great rider, and congrats on a nice ride.
Really outstanding and interesting video~ super impressed with both horse and rider ~ bravo! There are some other videos with the Go pro cam where there's no commentary and you don't learn as much but you can hear the rider breathing and reacting to each jump more which tells me that even though the horse is doing all the running and jumping you still have to be in good shape with your heart beating strong just to be able to do these kinds of sports, definitely not for the faint hearted.
i love that there is finally a good video of horse riding, espescially cross country. I love eventing and wish to someday compete in the Olympics! also, love how you talk through the begining :)
The commentary is what makes this video so educational. Take it for the gift that it is, or turn your volume off.
Very interesting perspective!
He was absolutely correct, overrode that coffin, should have just let his boy do his job, he overcorrected his line, but he knew it, great ride,
I love watching these, they're really interesting. And I love how everyone tends to the horse immediately after the competition is over! :)

I learnt a lot from your commentary and it's clear that he enjoyed his run and the two of you had a good relationship. Sad to see he was sold.

I love the way you pause the video and explain how the jumps line up and what your plan for the line. Love the video. Thanks!
my dumbass thought he was talking while he was riding and i was like “where is the wind?? how is he not out of breath??” i’m only realized this after the water jump lmfao

Awesome, I'm doing my first cross country soon and can't wait, really gave me a better idea of what it's like and what I have to look for and do :) x
I was at the Sunken Road!! You did great!! It was such a thrill to watch you and Running Order navigate through and do it like nothing!
Also I like hearing him explain the combinations, jumps, and everything, its really neat!
Thank you so much for this - it is absolutely wonderful to not only see as you the rider see, but to hear your views and knowledge on this course. Just superb! Please do more :)
