I live 5 minutes away from the Fox-Pitts and go hacking around the edge of their land, and drive past thir place every day when I go to work in the summer. The horses are always out in the sunshine, enjoying life and when I meet them out hacking they're the most relaxed, happy horses you could ever wish to see. I bet you're ecstatic that he's gone to such a wonderful home!
This gives me a lot of hope. One year ago I purchased an OTTB gelding that had no idea what a jump even was, and a year later he's soaring over three footers. No one else really believes that I can take this horse to the top but this just goes to show you that it absolutely can happen. Thank you.
It´s so important to explain to all horse lovers and hobby riders, that a horse like he is now (from what he used to be 4 yrs ago) they cannot have in one month. That behind such a great change are years of constant and systematic work. Such an important thing people must see. For the good of their hobby horses. I´m sending big thank you for this time-lapse video, because what I wrote above is the greatest message I can see in it - for other riders and horse lovers. Especially nowadays when many people think that they may become unbelievable just in a minute. Thank you Doug and thumbs up for your work.
There are so many things I love about this video but the one thing I want to point out is how patient and caring you are with Running Order, and how much willing you both are. He is a very lucky horse to have you! Such a great pair! love from South Korea xoxo
I really enjoyed listening to you describe Order's progression and your experiences training with him. You had such empathy for him and developed a wonderful mutual trust. This was a pleasure to watch - thank you for sharing!
Beautiful horse! You explain everything in the video so well and make it look so easy! Kudos to you and your horse for all of the hard work you both invested!
Loved the video, my mare has just started to jump and she is also very spooky and i find once she has gone over a jump she is happy to continue and her confidence grows so what you said did encourage me to keep going, many thanks.
What a wonderful team! You are such a compassionate, tactful rider, giving him every opportunity to grow and become the superb athlete he has turned into.
This was really wonderful, he looks like a superstar. Its so nice to see the development of his style and your partnership. What a wonderful horse and jockey, must be very pleasing to look back on this and see all you have achieved with him. Congratulations and I hope you continue to have much success!
What a cool guy. That's what I call a real horse man. Great job, well produced. Well spoken and just about why I like the event riders best. It's all about the horse! Here is someone who realy understands horses and what the sport is all about. Der Reiter formt das Pferd. Respect.
My goodness. What you've done with this horse is truly inspirational. This is what I hope to be doing in my years to come after I graduate from equine college next year.I just need to work with someone as talented as you first. Truly amazing.
Thank you for sharing this video of Running Order's progression. I also so enjoy the video you posted of the 2012 Rolex X Country taken with the helmet cam. Your commentary has encouraged us with our horse trial efforts. Good luck at Rolex 2013; I look forward to watching you ride there.
loved this...I can see what my horse already does naturally. I can see how much I have already done with him. My boy looks more like your photo 4 yrs later. I havent even started his training for eventing. This video had tons of helpful info.
This was so fun for me to listen to you and watch your horse in action! So COOL! also, it's amazing to see a horse just standing there....looking saggy and relaxed...and how transformed they are when they are working! Like 2 entirely different animals! Lots of GREAT photos in your clip! Beautiful! Glorious! Thank you so much! ...from Minnesota
Just a wonderful! The progression and success. A beautiful pairing. I'll try to follow you both because your video is more personal and would be more fun to do so. Thank you for sharing your experience.
never mind.....I watched through it all again and caught the name. Wonderful video. Fabulous partnership you have with that horse. Thanks for sharing that "trip" with us.
I am a western rider, reining, so I really do not know what I am looking at, but this video is great! Amazing horse, the progress was unreal, even I could see it. Great job!
Love your videos Doug, I think he has developed so great because you give him room to be him, and appreciate him so much. (ontop of the obvious, you being a great rider) Its easy to hear he's special to you. Great journey to follow :)
Incredible video. Not a horse I would have given a second glance to. Shows how much I know!!! Love watching him develop. Drooling over your riding, as usual.
Such an interesting video, and such a modest narrator. Yet the subtle insights are there for any horse person. I so enjoyed this, thank you for sharing it.
Doug, what a wonderful 'bio' of your horse and how much love, hard work and ability you both have. I enjoyed watching this thoroughly and wished that there were more people who showed the progression of their horses from start to getting to the highest level that they can. I saw you ride at Rolex this year and was disappointed that you withdrew from the Cross Country - which was totally understandable. You come across as a good guy who rides beautifully and kind on your horses as well.
What an awesome video. Thanks for sharing your journey with him. Loved the progression in the dressage from Paradise OP to Jersey Fresh - what a difference and how inspirational. As well, the improvement and maturity in SJ from the first to The Fork 2012. And the footage of the huge drop at the AECs - the drop to the two very skinny skinnies. So well done! Great job!
I'd like to add that you often see upper-level jumpers post the canter as well. They don't do it all the time and you definitely don't see it in lower levels, but it is often taught to jumpers because not only does it serve the same purpose as posting the trot when it comes to taking pressure off the horse's back, it is also really good for learning to and/or staying with the horse's rhythm. For that reason, I was actually taught to post the canter when I was still a novice jumper.
I know that this is an old video, but that dosen't make the trasformation any less beautiful to watch. He was a pretty horse already in the first photo, but he is a perfect example of a super fit and absolutely gorgrs horse in the last one. You have done an amazing job with him 😃
I like how expressive he is! He clearly loves his job! Right around the 15:00 mark you can really start to see the improvement in his trot. You've done well with him. For a tall and long horse he seems to have nice gaits: so many times with the big ones I find their gaits look herky jerky, but not this guy. I love the end conformation shot. What a handsome fellow he has turned out to be. Congrats on all the hard work, and good luck at your future events!
Hi Mr. Payne, I am a follower on UTube. I saw a horse for sale on Canter Illinois that reminded me of Running Order. He was posted 9/8/2017 and his name is Bellodini. I don't know anything about horses, but when I saw him, I thought of you, so I thought I would tell you. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and videos with those of us who can only participate in the sport by watching!!!
I have to say what a beautiful progression! Wonderfully trained and I was quite impressed by the improvement in his trot in the dressage :) Very nice video :)
Wow, I absolutely loved the addition of the GoPro. You an tell that horse loves the open cross country racing, and does the Dressage because he loves to please, but its really not that horse's 'thang'. Its how i feel when I have to dress up for something, I'd MUCH rather be running bare foot over hills and around trees! His form and growth were a pleasure to watch.
You could see from day 1 this horse had great potential. He is a beautiful horse for sure, and he jumps very well, tucks his knees up. Looks like a nice ride.
Love this video. :) You're so talented, Running Order is also extremely talented. It's amazing the transformation he went through in the four years you've had him. Hope to see you both at Rolex next year!
This is one of the most motivating horse/rider videos I have ever seen, well done to the pair of you, I do love the clip 06:01 where is seems to be having a good old look at where he is going.
I absolutely love the photo of Running Order taking a good long look down at what he's doing as he leaps the roll-top in the water. Ha, hah -- that would've been a fun photo to send to George Morris's equitation critique column in 'Practical Horseman' back in the day. I can just seeGeorge's comments: "Although the rider is a bit rough-and-ready as is the fashion these days for eventers, he does an excellent job maintaining contact in the air over this tricky fence. The horse appears to be a scopey type."
And heck- YOUR position on him over that rolltop in the water in that photo of his first intermediate?! 5☆s!!! You stayed with him sooooo great! Thats an AMAZING photo, haha!
Love this...I am in Nevada, and know nothing about eventing, only cow ponies. Really enjoyed your explanations, what you look for, and the helmet cam! Great job!
Hi. A very elegant horse, no dressage-star but totaly ok. His jumping is impressive, and he seems a very forward and nice spirit. I´m so impressed by your skills on the course and wish you all the best in the future!
This video is great! It's so interesting to hear your thoughts and insights while seeing it with our own eyes. I would enjoy--and hope you will do!--many more videos!
Great story, I have a new 4y/o TB from racing backgrounds showing real talent and aptitude for her new sport. Let's hope she can progress even half as well as Running Order has!
Gorgeous animal--his topline has really improved, too. He may be a bit tight on his turns, but he seems pretty well-collected and flexes nicely in his neck--all indications of good training and good riding. Well done!
Most event and even show jumpers are like that to be honest.
Thanks, it doesn't hurt to be lucky enough to ride such a brilliant horse!
I have to say I am so impressed that you constantly say the horse won or placed and give him the credit for the placings. Thank you for sharing
This gives me a lot of hope. One year ago I purchased an OTTB gelding that had no idea what a jump even was, and a year later he's soaring over three footers. No one else really believes that I can take this horse to the top but this just goes to show you that it absolutely can happen. Thank you.

Beautiful horse! You explain everything in the video so well and make it look so easy! Kudos to you and your horse for all of the hard work you both invested!
this video never gets old
From a showjumpers perspective, I absolutely love him! He’s got such a loose and athletic jump and a lovely backend
Loved the video, my mare has just started to jump and she is also very spooky and i find once she has gone over a jump she is happy to continue and her confidence grows so what you said did encourage me to keep going, many thanks.
Was sorry to hear you lost the ride on this incredible horse. I hope you always get the credit you deserve for doing all the hard work.
What a wonderful team! You are such a compassionate, tactful rider, giving him every opportunity to grow and become the superb athlete he has turned into.

a beautiful video. Your admiration and trust for and in your horse is wonderful. Thank you for the opportunity to take me through his training.
I am entirely impressed with the work you have done with this horse. He is beautiful and very talented. Congratulations on your winnings!
Such an absolutely gorgeous transformation. You truly work magic when training horses.
What a cool guy. That's what I call a real horse man. Great job, well produced. Well spoken and just about why I like the event riders best. It's all about the horse! Here is someone who realy understands horses and what the sport is all about.
Der Reiter formt das Pferd. Respect.
I thoroughly enjoyed the commentary, pictures and everything about this video! This horse has came a long long way and looks fab!
the progression is really cool. what a great riding partner, he is beautiful, you have done so much with him!
My goodness. What you've done with this horse is truly inspirational. This is what I hope to be doing in my years to come after I graduate from equine college next year.I just need to work with someone as talented as you first. Truly amazing.
You were blessed to be able to ride and train such an amazing, gorgeous horse.
Thanks for making me cry. That was really awesome.

Great job developing him into an outstanding horse, Doug! You two are my favorite pair to watch on cross country!
I am a western rider, reining, so I really do not know what I am looking at, but this video is great! Amazing horse, the progress was unreal, even I could see it. Great job!

Simply amazing transformation and an incredibly talented, motivated horse. What a great pair they make.

This video is so well done and you're an amazing rider. You're an example of what skills mixed with brain and heart can accomplish. Bravo!
this is awesome. thank you for putting 4 years of work together into a great presentation. Loved it!

Eventing_A J 2019 lol
I’m still watching. Love this video. Where is he now?
I would also like to know what happened to running order.
...latter half of 2019!? Haha
Can we get a 2019/current update on how hes doing today!?
Very nice! I enjoy the experience and the joy that you share about your horse(s). I bet your horses love you for loving them, even when competing
You've done a great job with him. He looks great, and you can really see how much he loves competing. :)
Thanks Doug for making this video! Very inspiring!

Amazing video. Really enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. Absolutely love OTTBs and he's exceptionally lovely.
What a fun transformation to watch thank you so much for sharing!
I loved watching this video. I wish I could have even a fraction of the skill you possess to jump anything higher than 3 foot. Lol simply phenomenal.
Oh my god. A video talked about Rochester. I feel so damn special.
Incredible jumper!! Incredible training!!
Such a gorgeous horse. If I'm being honest, this video brought tears to my eyes😂😭
unbelievable transformation good on you and all your team
Gorgeous animal--his topline has really improved, too. He may be a bit tight on his turns, but he seems pretty well-collected and flexes nicely in his neck--all indications of good training and good riding. Well done!
