I just found this dragon fly tutorial, it's a lovely item! If I could make a suggestion, it would be helpful to be able to see the project you are working on so if you could have one set to the side it would be helpful for those of us who need a visual. I love your video! I can't wait to try this. I live in upper Wisconsin near many lakes and we have them everywhere in the spring, summer and fall. My favorite thing is when they land on me when im sitting in the sunshine. They are so beautiful, harmless to humans and eat their weight in mosquitoes, flies and other flying pests in a day! They are so mesmerizing to watch fly!! However, Please dont think me too critical, but I have one tiny pet peeve about people believing dragonflies have antennae. Dragonflies do NOT have antennae. Butterflies DO, but dragonflies do not. I love this idea and you are so talented! I need to figure out how to make these beautiful dragonflies without the antennae. Lol

I was lucky to find cans that have plastic sleeves so there was no printing on the can. The only other way I have been able to remove the ink is with a brilliant pad and at lot of elbow grease. I have seen the ink removed with nail polish remover but you have to cook the cans in a pressure cooker first. It sounds weird and I don't know why it works but I know there are videos on it if you want to search for them. I am happy you like the project. Have fun. 🙂
I adore dragonflies nd have many different types, in my bedroom and bathroom i have used one on each light cord which make a lovely pull. i have them on pictures etc etc etc I think i now have to make a whole load of these to be flying around nd coer my christmas tree, I may tint the can different colours with alcohol inks, i think that may look pretty xxx

Hi Cassandra - sorry I don't know exactly it was just some scrap wire we had. You can use regular jewelry wire in 20 or 22 guage if you can't find the right wire to strip. Hope that helps.

Possible video idea: Hi there, I'm a new subscriber and am really enjoying your content. I wanted to pass on a RUMOR that seems perfectly viable but I haven't tried it. So the story is, "Some aluminum cans shed their 'labels' if you pressure-cook them." I only saw one video espousing this theory, but I think pressure cooking is powerful voodoo and it might just work! Maybe you'd like to experiment? Supposedly the cheaper cans work best, like Arizona and generic sodas. Brands like Lacroix and Izze may not work, while Sam's and Big K just come right off.

Excellent idea, I recycle most things but before I throw anything, I look at it to see if I'd be able to do anything with it for my crafts, e g. Containers for resin etc. Im not sure I will make this as I have a fear of cutting myself on yin cans but there are elements that I will try, the beads for sure, that's a great idea and using the wire in cables, I've always got that. I got ahead of myself, n made wings before I made the body…. I came across sharp edges on the bottom of the wings from where the holes were made. Did you address how to secure or get rid of the sharpness? Please let me know, or any ideas on how to keep them from accidentally cutting someone.
The paper beads are not good for outdoors. I will use real beads instead. E6000 is a wonderful glue. I use it for many projects too. I also noticed the large antennae. Dragonflies have tiny antenae near their eyes. Used for sense of smell. But its OK to make them big and spangly for yours. They look more pretty that way. Thanks for sharing.

Hi there, I'm a new subscriber and am really enjoying your content. I wanted to pass on a RUMOR that seems perfectly viable but I haven't tried it. So the story is, "Some aluminum cans shed their 'labels' if you pressure-cook them." I only saw one video espousing this theory, but I think pressure cooking is powerful voodoo and it might just work! Maybe you'd like to experiment? Supposedly the cheaper cans work best, like Arizona and generic sodas. Brands like Lacroix and Izze may not work, while Sam's and Big K just come right off.

Excellent idea, I recycle most things but before I throw anything, I look at it to see if I'd be able to do anything with it for my crafts, e g. Containers for resin etc. Im not sure I will make this as I have a fear of cutting myself on yin cans but there are elements that I will try, the beads for sure, that's a great idea and using the wire in cables, I've always got that. I got ahead of myself, n made wings before I made the body…. I came across sharp edges on the bottom of the wings from where the holes were made. Did you address how to secure or get rid of the sharpness?
Please let me know, or any ideas on how to keep them from accidentally cutting someone.
Hi thanks for watching. I didn't really do anything to the bottom of the wings. They are a little rough but not really dangerous.
Bubble paint might help.
Use a seam ripper on your wire.

The paper beads are not good for outdoors. I will use real beads instead. E6000 is a wonderful glue. I use it for many projects too. I also noticed the large antennae. Dragonflies have tiny antenae near their eyes. Used for sense of smell. But its OK to make them big and spangly for yours. They look more pretty that way. Thanks for sharing.
