For the life of me I couldn't get the clear polish to create anything but blobs on the tips. Wouldn't create a screen. Any special tips?

Try to submerge the wings in the nail polish. If it won't fit in the bottle, or you don't want pour it out in a small container, you can also use glue that cures trasnparent.

@Lilystargazer0925 I used a thick foam sheet, but it was too soft. You should rather use something stiffer like wine cork or sculpt it out of clay.

Does it break easily or is it hard? I mean, what do the wings feel like? The consistency of an eggshell, or thin glass?

I would say a thin eggshell. You can poke it out with your nail or something pointy. However, you can make it more sturdy by applying a coat of resin. 😃

It sticks to the edges if you spread it the right way with the brush or you can also submerge them.
