like this if u think kurapika is beautiful
3 days ago wtf???
he’s dope
I love his character 💪🏼❤️
Kurapika is the most interesting and great character.
I love the character and evolution in the anime and manga.
i love kurapika
Just a little note . Kurapika didn't know about gon's condition . When he knew in the manga he asked leorio if he can do anything to help but gon was already healed so there wasn't anything he can do
Yeah all he did was Ignore Leorio
@@allflowersaredead for a reason
Fair. Maybe Kurapika would’ve answered the phone if he knew.

@@abyss1996 I would never answer my Phone during funeral. Also, Kurapika is a mafia boss now, that is how he got all this eyes . I bet answering the Phone is not fully A safe option for him. And that cumulated...- time he was out of reach became unfortunately Long.
This video is cool and all but did you know Bungee Gum has the properties of both rubber and gum.
NO WAY THIS MUST BE A CAP, THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE, THOSE ARE TWO DIFFERENT MATERIALS
Larry McCormick I didn’t know that bungee gum has both the properties of rubber and gum.
Really?
Woah that's fascinating fact!!!!
Rubber is stretchy as hell and gum is sticky
Kurapika's obvious emptiness during the York New arc is one of my favorite moments in the series. Truly depicts how damaging vengeance can be.
Like the emptiness I feel right now cause Haikyuu just ended.😭
KOORAPIKA IS NOW DROWNING IN AN INDESCRIBABLE EMPTINESS **happy guitar solo🎸**
Js realiseed this comment is 3 years old
When Gon broke-down against Neferpitou, he got the same feeling Kurapika held, and holds for so long.
Kurapika is a slow burning Gon, hope Leorio can fill the Killua role ...
@I Am The One Who Knocks @I Am The One Who Knocks I dunno mate, Kurapika lost literally everyone and everything because of actions he took. He then dedicated his life to integrating himself into the criminal underworld and devoting his spiritual aura into a weapon set specifically to fight the Phantom Troupe. It may not seem as dramatic of a decent but it is, just a slow burn and not him giving up everything and using up his whole life at once, but still for singular revenge focused pursuit that could end in a similarly tragic outcome.
Dude if only Kurapika had seen that bloodlusted gon 💀
@@relentlesschaos835 he'd either be calling Gon out or fully cheering him on😂
The fact kurapika is the one who told gon about the binding vow thing, where you can get all the power you need if you make a contract with yourself, but the cost is as great as the deal. It’s insane really, if kurapika knew about this I bet he’d be devastated
Kurapika brought a shovel to a fight. That's gangsta.
People need to stop comparing Kurapika to Sasuke they are two totally different Characters and it’s more than just the regular revenge motive
Exactly
I agree. The comparison is unavoidable though, seeing as how Sasuke was based off Kurapika. The similarities are there, but Kurapika is a wholly different being, and I feel he’s characterized as per the different writing philosophies their respective authors take, all the way to character design and development. Togashi is a superior writer to Kishimoto in my eyes, but Togashi also writes character interactions with one of the firmest understanding of psychology and interpersonal relationships I have ever seen in fiction. Blows me away.
Naruto hits me hard in the feels, Kishimoto can really make you love. But Hiatus x Hiatus is incredibly well put-together, and impressively convincing in its consistency. Togashi can make you think hard. Different authors, different characters!
Sasuke was based off of hei
@@Duplicitousthoughtformentity Togashi is an actual genius, that is the difference, he is a waaaay superior writer to Kishimoto it isn't even close, hell even I can write better than Kishimoto lmao.
@@AndrewManook any one can write a more compelling story than masakishi.
He lost himself .... in the end it goes to show the cost of vengenance and how detrimental and damaging it can truly be to follow a path of darkness. I love his determination and conviction but in my opinion it was ultimately his downfall. I hope he acquires serenity in the future ... he deserves it .
He’s close, I’m pretty sure the prince is the last set of eyes he needs to retrieve, and it’s like that the troupe and hisoka will continue killing eachother off
Before you seek revenge, dig 2 graves.
-Confucius
@@jadenkelly316 just cause it’s relatable doesn’t mean it’s the smart thing to do, hxh always shows us that there is price for vengeance. Hopefully kurapika doesn’t die in the end but he will definitely pay a huge price and idk if alluka is gonna be able to save him
Nope. KIllua and Kurapika are not that close.
@@carna-9501 then he wouldn't have enough Graves lol since there's way more than two members of the Phantom Troupe.
I think the most tragic thing about Kurapika is that he IS kind and compassionate, even at the end of the series. In the black whale arc, it becomes so obvious that his instinct is always to act with kindness and compassion, and he has to actively push that down, has to actively push away those who love him. He thinks he needs his rage to stay strong and to give him purpose in life, but there is already so much more to him, he has real friends who care for him and with whom he could lead a rich and meaningful life, and he KNOWS that - he just actively decides not to see it. It makes his path just that much more devastating because you really get the feeling that there is something to lose. In true greek tragedy fashion, he really is the one standing in his own way and manufacturing his own downfall - and the only one who can maybe at some point let go of his deep hurt and save himself.
“ I only fear that my rage
Will fade over time”
I always thought it was very interesting how he didn’t attempt to hide his rage, he was open and upfront about his goal no matter the cost. So often character try to hide their mission. But his morals and logic are almost at war with his goal, yet he will not give up under any circumstance.
I think it's a way to remind himself of not to lose track of his goals. Even tho he craves adventure and the carefree him, it seems like a thing of the past now. He realises he won't enjoy anything with this nagging feeling of having been wronged and moving on without even trying to help his clan's souls rest in peace.
The portrayal of Kurapika's descent in the older HxH anime still haunts me. The tone and the animation was so grim.
I know what you mean. Like that one scene where the red moon cries blood and Kurapika seems to drown in blood with his scarlet eyes. That was crazy af
@@soulreaver6083 Yeah. Edgy as hell but man was it effective and memorable
@@soulreaver6083 that sounds like some Berserk shit. Or when Obito went crazy.
@@soulreaver6083 exactly the scene I have in mind
the older version was rather much more darker, and that's what reminds you that it wasn't just a happy go lucky shonen.
Revenge stories/characters can be a dime a dozen. But damn they are always interesting to me.
With the little justice the worlds has or gives. There’s a certain level of fantasy- by raw individual power anyone could defy those deserving of there rage. But the tragedy is making choices based on anger alone.
Will not only reap negative consequences in the long run. But by the satisfaction of your rage it will vanish, and you’ll be hallow. Cathartic in the moment it is to know some kind of justice for the wrongs of the world. But at the cost of yourself in the long run.
Kurapika looks like Pico
@@Chrisdish the perfect response
Me too, I love revenge stories and how tragic they can be
Kurapika isn’t the original Sasuke, Sasuke is the discount Kurapika.
Yep😂
Two completely different characters that tackle vengeance in two different ways, which is why those two are my personal favorite in their respective Shows
They’re nuance makes them incredibly different
Kurapika still cares about his friends and wants simple vengeance
Sasuke would throw everything away if it gave him power, but he wouldn’t do something of Itachi wanted him to do it, it’s the reason he didn’t use Genjutsu until he died, because that was Itachis thing. Even when he knew killing Naruto would make him stronger, if that’s what Itachi did he wouldn’t do it.
It’s a broad general rage compared to a focused specific rage
but sure sasuke is a better character
@@fuckk-popandtiktok3388 no
I'd rather be lost in my rage and fury, than be lost in the endless unknowing of what my purpose is in the world. If I could live blind in my wrath to avoid being aware of my emptiness within the world and my purpose within it, I would pay that price for my vengeance.
damn . . . and here I am lost and empty haha
@@curtisdrago Sorry to hear of that, mate.
curtisdrago I am with you on this. But am currently going through the afterwards of Kurapika losing his rage. Both paths have its quirks. Being rageful will make you feel more alive than ever; but so blind. And not knowing your purpose will make you desperate to seek your place in the world; giving space for adventure and memories.
It’s awful for kurapika because he is very aware of this but is too foolish to let it all go. There’s nothing to feel bad about. Rage isn’t bad because of the consequences but because of how poisonous it feels to wake up to everyday. It sucks not knowing my place, but I’m happy for the adventure to see.
"Forget revenge. You aren't strong enough." - Kurapika's mentor
How I wish he took his words into consideration at least.....
He truly is an amazing character, I could watch analysis on him forever lol
Or anything Hunter x Hunter, actually. HxH is one of those series you can keep digging to do more and more pretentious narrative analyses because it is truly that complex lol
@@marxist-leninist-protagonistthis was honestly great i cried watching this
Gon has already payed a huge price for revenge, so he'll probably be the one to save kurapika from self destruction
I'm literally watching the "troupe" arc in HxH and since starting this series, he's became my favorite 😭 thank you for making this ❤
i see, a fellow new hxh watcher who has also fallen for the interesting character that is kurapika ;)
Togashi said by the end of the series the Phantom Troupe would all be dead, whether or not that happens, who knows if Kurapica will be the one to carry it out in full in the end.
So they’ll never die
Cuz the series is never ending
@@bbqseitan7106 He's just writing slowly, of course the series is gonna end.
When togashi said they will all die I think it's not true coz he's not that dumb to spoil his own manga also maybe he changed his mind or it was a joke or disguise
Hisoka already killed 2 members in the manga
In that same Q&A he said kurapika would be too.
I really hope he finds himself by the end of the series and doesn't end up being consumed by his vengeance. I just want my man to move on 😫
@Shingeki no Propane what about aang
@zainy_inc I hope so but I’m pretty sure him, crollo, and hisoka will probably die by the end of the succession war arc
This made me tear up :p I need Togashi to finish this man's story.... The current manga arc is insane as a kurapika fan. Whenever you check it out you'll dig it
The story will never finish, it will continue on forever.
@@AndrewManook yeah, about that..

@@johnathonlequinta1333 but in this case would gon be sasuke? Cuz hisoka wanta gon to "ripen"
No
hmm so mereum is cell
You really hit at the core with describing kurapika's personal dilemma sage.
I’m pretty sure Kurapika won’t descend completely. As driven and determined as he is, there’s still a part of him that’s wondering whether his path truly os worth it (which was demonstrated in the manga when he reminisced about his past in one of the later chapters. )
I’m thinking something drastic will have to happen to either him or one of the members of the main group in order for him to grasp the gravity of his situation. In addition to Kurapika showing death flags, (him lighting the number 4 up on his finger with nen, and him passing out due to the overuse of Emperor’s Time) Tserriednich and the Phantom Troupe are all together in the same ship. Personally, I think something drastic will happen to Kurapika in this arc, which will lead him to be incapacitated with Nen and have to travel with Leorio + Gon (if possible) in order to find a cure for his ailments, (possibly in the Dark Continent) which in turn will allow character development and screentime for one of the more underrated characters, Leorio. The saving of Kurapika could allow completion to Leorio’s past regret of not being able to save his friend, and finding the cure of Kurapika’s nen ailment could also allow Gon to retrieve his nen.
Either way, I’m 100% positive Kurapika won’t die. He’s a solid character that’s been built and worked on too much just to die a cruel and painful death. Togashi will add death scares in order for us to ponder more about the possibility of his death, but ultimately, Kurapika could begin working together with the main group to beat the Phantom Troupe instead of working on it alone. Kurapika dying would destroy the main group and would steer the series in an unprecedented direction, given the fact that Kurapika is a beloved character. Lastly, it’d just make sense to focus on Kurapika of Leorio’s character in this or in the next arc. Gon is currently in Whale Island and Killua is too busy traveling the world with Alluka.
Either way, if none of my predictions turn out to be right, I’m still sure the next arc will turn out amazing. I respect Togashi and his genius mind, but I do hope he works on Leorio’s character soon. I love the man too much for him to have literally zero screentime.
Something to note about Kurapika is his nen ability. He can only utilize it's full power against someone who took his clan's eyes. It shows that another price he paid for vengeance was his own future as a nen user.
It’s a really good ability ONLY if you have more Ability-Slots left.
Imagine you had ONLY Emperor-Time!!
Thank you for using my cover! :00 I'm honored 🥺 love Kurapika and this vid :)
Thank you so much for letting me use it!! I really appreciate it :)
I'm not the biggest expert on HxH, but it seems to me that the way of the World in HxH is just messed up. You have these people who are just walking beings of destruction. How do you contain that. The Hunter Program seems like it's supposed to operate as some kind of deterrent for criminals and the like but they are mostly driven by their own desires. Gon's father is a perfect example. Living in a world like, I see why the Phantom Troupe do how they do. Karupika is boy trying to make sense in a senseless world. Trying to right a wrong that should have never been allowed to happen. I mean damn, this dude had to see Lil' Cus Eyeball for sale at auction! Wtf? How do you deal with that? About as well as Kurapika is I guess...
this is another really good perspective
I didn't want to watch this because I've been meaning to read Hunter X Hunter but have put it off due to the myriad hiatuses it's had. Glad I did though, and it seems like it was free of major spoilers.
from the events in the manga so far it seems like Togashi is going to move towards shifting the object of his revenge to another singular man manga readers know what I mean the set up and build up so far in the latest arc is amazing
this was extremely well made, we def need this show back
Damn, came back for a rewatch. Almost cried😭
Sage, you are truly a master of narration and analysis. You deliver to your viewers flawlessly and it’s beautiful. As beautiful as Kurapika.
Now if only Togashi can get back to writing this amazing work of fiction so we can finally see where kurapika, and everyone else for that matter end up.
Kurapika is my favorite and it makes me sad to see him go down the path of vengeance
This is a personal question for you Sage, but anybody may answer if they wish:
What is your goal in life?
For me it is simply to grow in every aspect I can, while bringing happiness and inspiration to others.
Spreading love as much as I can, but within my own boundaries.
Planting seeds to grow wealth for not only myself, but hopefully all I can reach.
That's a pretty good goal, for me it is to adventure and find the unknown, to truly enjoy life.
@@AndrewManook Sounds awesome! Best of luck! ;D
Im just here to hear the voice tbh ....
One of my favorite characters in the series since a complex character who I wish will have a happy ending and find the purpose and his reason for living.
I just finished hxh and it’s one of my favorites now
Man i just found your channel after i watched the video of “Madara Philosophy” , and checked some of your other videos. And all what i want to say is that you the only youtuber who does not make shit up for clout, i really like that you are honest and you bring up actual points! Would look forward to your videos from now on✌️🐐
All this talk about revenge reminds me of a quote from a significantly more light-hearted show: Dan Vs. The quote being, “Revenge is a dish best served immediately.”
Kurapika has been spending years of his life training and hunting down the Phantom Troupe to avenge his dead clan. And his major Nen abilities cut his lifespan with every use. Combined with his declining mental state, his obsession with revenge will easily kill him at a young age. Or worse, turn him into something horrific or unrecognizable to the people who cherish him. We can only wonder if Kurapika can achieve his goals without becoming a monster akin to the Spiders or becoming another corpse.
Give a thumbs up if sage should put out merch( buying on spot)👍🏾
Kurapika could be seen as a commentary on Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho (which is Togashi's first majorly successful manga). He seems to be Kurama if he were possessed/obsessed with revenge. While Kurama has a vengeance streak 1000 miles wide when he's mad enough (see his battle with the Elder Toguro) he isn't dominated by it. Kurama is in control of himself and his rage most of the time.
by contrast, Kurapika is dominated by his anger. Kurama strove to improve himself and put his past behind him, and as a result he gained a family. Kurapika was the opposite. He couldn't move on or make peace with his past, and his vengeance cost him dearly.
One of my favorite content creator making a HxH video...Bliss
Hunter x Hunter upload? I'm all for it.
the character intrigued me, though I didn't care enough for the series to keep watching at a certain point, and after your essay I feel like I can relate to that character alot x)
People like to discredit kurpika for being a saskue clone of vengeance but the reality is so far from it kurpika can be said to live to only avenge his clan like sauske, but the difference is that kurpika is doing is means to a end unlike sauske he wants to restore his clan, unlike kurpika who can’t restart his clan
Sage rain if you read this I’m happy you made this video Ive been waiting patiently to see thank you 🙏🏽
People say Sasuke is a clone of Kurpika HxH is inspired Naruto
These assholes...
In a time where disappointing content is being churned out for the masses.
You give us not only hope, but a better environment for the platform. Overtime your work has done nothing short but inspire me. Not just on the screen. But away from it as well. Thank you.
Togashi (the author of HxH) already said that Kurapika IS going to die at some point in the series. During an interview, when he was asked about the fate of Kurapika and the Spiders his answer was "They'll all die".
tbf he could be joking around - it would be a huge spoiler if HxH continues and they actually do get killed off ,,
it won't impact the readers who have seen the interview in that case -
plus by saying " they'll all die " , he could be implying old age or something of the sorts ? idk myself
i hope he didn't spoil the rest of the story doe
@@irusomo1012 I mean, the current story arc on the manga (before the hiatus) was basically a perfect setup to kill Kurapika. And apparently Togashi has done things like that in past mangas of his (saying that x and y characters would die), but ended up changing his mind about killing specific characters, so I guess there's still hope for Kurapika.
@@lucasmattos3184 ahh true
he does seem to be the type who would kill a protagonist
but still , it would be lame if he actually spoiled his death
@@irusomo1012 yeah, Togashi is not a guy who just does whatever, not what people expect.

I'm legit happy I didnt see this last night before going to bed. Would have started me on a sage rain binge and I would have stayed up too late and work would have sucked
Kurapika is my favorite character of all time
He’s such a great character but he’s in a show full of amazing characters so he sometimes gets overshadowed
I would say the only better character in the show is Meruem. Killua is close though. I’m basing this on the complexity of the characters not how much I like them btw. I always thought of Kurapika as the most well written protagonist of the show.
He was only there for 40 eps yet he still could get the second most popular character in the series
We could throw gon on that list after the chimera ant arc
Gon and Kurapika are the best

Can you please do video on Might Guy. He is so simple but yet so powerful philosophically.
Sasuke discovered the corrupt world while kurapika is now dancing in the darkness.
Tserriednich 'bout to have a FIELD DAY with Kurapika when they finally find each other
One hell of a fight.
If you can't be bothered to read the manga, the first movie covers Kurapika's back story and that's completely canon.
