    I agree with a lot of what you said in regards to Kurapika and his quest for revenge.
    However, during his fight with uvogin I think he presses him for 3 reasons.
    1. He wants to get as much info about the members and their abilities beyond the ones hisoka has given him
    2. He wants test his nen abilities and put them to the test on someone as confident as uvogin in their nen abilities.

    Kurapkika reminds me of Alucard from Hellsing in this fight: Alucard fights with the sole idea of breaking his enemy physically and mentally before he kills them (he did this to Luke Valentine, Rip Van Winkle and was definitely going to do it towards Walter but was unable to see it through due to an outside influence).

    This is awesome! Thank you! This is probably my second favorite fight in all of Hunter x Hunter because of how dramatic and important it is to Kurapika's character development. The only fight that I think is better is Netero vs. Meruem because of how symbolic it is and the amazing music that plays in the background, and even then that fight is just barely better than this one. Would you please cover all of the symbolism in that fight? Thank you.

    As much as I agree with most of points made in this video I can't help but disagree with the notion that Uvogin was the noble one in this battle.
    Protecting your crime mates and loyalty towards them isn't any different from Kurapika's loyalty to his clan and the revenge. Yes no one from the clan will feel satisfaction of the revenge other than Kurapika himself but revenge isn't only about satisfaction and is more about brining justice in self-righteous manner. I still think in this encounter Uvogin is much worse and dark character. Not only amount of people he killed is greater than Kurapika but also reasons like profit or fun are way worse than vengeance. It's true that this has negative effect on Kurapika and he didn't get any of satisfaction when Uvogin didn't react but He did kill him and possibly prevented him from killing other innocent people. When no justice is served by the organs that should do it then there emerge people like Kurapika to find the justice themselves.
    Kurapika is effectively destroying himself by the way he is approaching this crusade but that doesn't mean is entirely wrong in doing so.

    An inconsistent thing is maybe that Kurapika was stronger than 50% of Uvogin's strenght , and also if he has been hit by a 100% strenght punch , It doesn't make sense that Kurapika only broke it ( Kurapika's should have been cut off in that case) ... Kurapika learnt Nen less than 6 months before , Uvogin was a master ... So the only logical explanation I can think is that that punch wasn't 100% of Uvogin's strenght and Kurapika reduced Uvo's strenght with his chain Jail without Uvogin knew ... Same when Uvo was in 50% state , Kurapika should have reduced Uvo's strenght

  • @young_raymond47
    @young_raymond47 3 роки тому

    I don;t agree that Uvogin completely denied Kurapika his vengeance through his unwavering mental fortitude; sure Kurapika had wished to have Uvo feel how the people he's murdered had felt, but the validation of his power to take down a troupe member would have been satisfying, along with the fact that he had actually killed the member. It's also worth noting that if events had playedout without Gon and Killua's intervention (they essentially engineered the ceasefire. Kurapika would have got to see other members suffer because of Uvo's death (especially Nobunaga). In fact, the mere word of a troupe member seeking revenge against him would have been a victory for the reasons you stated. Ultimately, Uvo was a guinea pig in every sense, and had we got to see the feud play out more, we would be looking back at the fight as an overwhelming success for Kurapika.

Justice is an organized punishment (usually by committee) for committing an act that goes against whatever rules one is supposed to follow in their given circumstances. If someone steals a vehicle from you you may get revenge by smashing their hands with a hammer so they can’t steal anymore, but a court would issue justice by imprisoning them for some set amount of time.

    I think people give WAY too much credit to the Phantom Troupe as "not really that bad". Just because Togashi draws them with more relaxed expressions befitting a main character, and that they have loyalty within their ranks, doesnt make them noble or "good". Kurapika, while a bit savage in his approach, was totally justified in doing what he did to Uvo. Whether Uvo felt he was in the right or not doesnt change that, he deserved getting the shit kicked at him. It's crazy to me this video tries to paint Kurapika as "wrong" for trying to dominate Uvo mentally as well as physically. I actually love the 1999 version of the York New Arc. The scene where Kurapika is trying to develop his nen abilities and he gets enveloped with chains is absolutely beautiful and really shows the audience how much nen is a manifestation of our own psychology, desires and ideals. Some of the filler added to the '99 adaptation really impressed me and actually helped flesh out the world in a way the 2011 series didn't. So even if it's not "canon", it usually demonstrates some facet of the world that is absolutely true to Togashi's intentions.

Like come on you have essentially a Novice nen user able to Toy with a World Class Enhancer with decades of experience. Thats a ridiculous power up. The nice thing about the nen System is that it was balanced so that even really gifted Nen users couldn’t be masters of all categories, Time emperor is Literally the Nen Equivalent of the Avatar State. Chrollo is the only one with a chance in hell of fighting Kurapika evenly in this state and thats only with a shitload of prep, in a random encounter he stomps every single spider 1 on 1 he could probably take 2-3 of them on at once mid-Difficulty. The fact that a second in that form shaves an hour off his life means 5 minutes is 12 and a half days. Lets round that up to two weeks. He could settle any fight with a troupe member in less then 5 minutes. 13 members. That gives him 2 chances to take down every troupe member 1v1 before he loses a full year of his life. And he can’t use it against anyone who’s not a spider, like ok fine he can still use regular Nen abilities and they’re his main goal. Despite the “ Drawbacks” it seems to me like he has exactly the tool he needs to do what he wants and the Spiders really can’t do shit but run and hide from him

      @@agentchaos9332 Your estimates of how easily Kurapika could take out members of the Troupe grossly overestimate his own capabilities and sell the Spiders short. You're not taking into account that Pakunoda gave them the information she gleaned from Gon and Killua's memories, and Kurapika told that pair a lot of important info about his abilities - meaning that is info the Troupe now has on him. There's also the fact that Kurapika doesn't know several of the Spiders' abilities, the fact that they're almost all monsters in their own unique craft, and much of the credit to Kurapika's victory over Uvo is owed to how much the latter didn't know about him - an advantage he no longer has. So to take more than one of them on at a time is even more out of the question than it was before. That's also not accounting for Kurapika's mental state, the arduous processes it would take just to get even one member in a compromising situation for him to exploit or the amount of time he would have to be in Emperor Time in service to even that goal. Or compromising situations Kurapika may himself be in, like the current Succession War. (Hell, he's already pissed away five years of his life on the Black Whale alone, not counting however much time he lost in the fight with Uvogin, or all the times he used Emperor Time offscreen in between the Yorknew and Succession War Arcs.)
      It's like Morel said, the second you start trying to predict who will win in a battle of Nen, you're already wrong, it's just too many variables to know before it all actually shakes out. Hunter X Hunter isn't the kind of manga/anime that you can just churn out a prediction like that and just presume to know what you're talking about.

    Kurapika has little patience with nonsense regarding the Phantom Troupe, that has been pretty consistent in all of their interactions. His taunts could just be his way of saying 'stop wasting my time' (literally, with Emperor Time). Since he's a strategist with everything else, we could perhaps even argue that he was trying to distract Uvogin as much as possible while hiding his chains. He built his entire plan around Uvogin being an enhancer, who do have a more straightforward approach to things. But okay, that's speculation. There's also the chance that this was just a spun of Togashi, disregarding the standard shounen troupe of "this isn't even my final form" type of battle and we're all reading too much into this.

    Like other people said I feel like this vid gives Uvogin way too much credit. Considering the way he behaved before and during the fight he was in no way “Noble”. Does he have sympathetic qualities? Sure. Is this a gray-and-gray world? Sure. But he is still a mass murderer and the idea that he somehow comes out of this as a corpse with the moral high ground is such a strange concept. Like yeah Kurapika was overly brutal, more than he needed to be, but that’s it. That says nothing about Uvo’s moral standing, all that means is that Kurapika is a lighter shade of gray than the guy who kills and pillages for funsies.
