    I have never heard a pulse jet engine "rev" before. This thing sounds awesome!

      Got the idea from Colin Furze. Robert Maddox idles them on gas then injects Diesel - seems to work quite well.

    Be interested to see how this goes on liquid fuels. If you could heat the thing up and then inject some waste oil, that would open the way to a lot of useful heating applications for these.

      I will get to waste oil eventually - been looking at a lot of your videos for ideas. The only problem, as you mentioned before, is the NOISE!!!
      I don't have a sound level meter or I would measure the dB level. It is seriously loud.
      I state in the video that there will be no more acetylene producing but fear I have only thrown down the gauntlet to myself....

      @@mrpingenyou don't need a dB meter it's way over what's considered acceptable noise guaranteed people will hear it a mile away lol
      one of the loudest noises I've ever experienced pulse jets are on model RC aircraft , look after your ears sir and get defenders if you don't already use them .

    Superlative. Neat as a pin. Excellent throttle response. Look at her heat up full throttle! I'd really love for you to to try your hand at pulse detonation. No one seems able to do it- but I think someone who thinks out of the box like you could crack it.

      Watch out for the 5th of November video. I should be able to get away with making a proper noise and some flames in the back garden on that evening. 😊

    That runs great, the throttle response is superb , very cool little pulse jet looks like a makes a good few lbs of thrust.

      I have yet to measure the thrust but will get to it at some point.

      Thanks for the comment. I have been very busy with other things of late so have been neglecting my videos. I do have some other things in the pipeline so to speak. Think I might give the little pulse jet a proper full throttle run in the dark outside on the evening of the 5th of November. The local population will be wondering just what kind of fireworks are making the infernal noise. 💣💥😊

    Cute little Lockwood valveless ! How come you aren't using LPG ?

    Nice! How much thrust can this enging produce?

    Great video. I have a couple of questions. 1. Why is your day pulse jet horse shoe shape and not straight like the V1 engines. 2. Are you useing a valve in it to stop any energy going the wrong way?

    • @mrpingen
      @mrpingen  6 місяців тому

      Hi, thanks. It is that shape because it is a Lockwood-Hiller valveless type. There is some thrust comes out both ends so neeeds to be bent at 180 degrees.

    Do you consider putting a straight exhaust pipe on it for testing ?
    It would be less practical to move but it should run better as the pulses would travel in a line and the exhaust would be far away from the intake

    • @mrpingen
      @mrpingen  7 місяців тому +1

      That would work for testing. It could be made telescopic to find the ideal length and then a bend made to that length for actual use.

      afterburner instead perhaps?

      how about evaporated ethanol (steam ethanol)

    • @mrpingen

      You want to hear it in my workshop - even with ear defenders it is loud.

      @@Jkauppa Yeah, wrap a tube round the outside to heat the ethanol and then into the combustion chamber.
