if you tune a splendor even it can reach 150km/hr. but the engines will not last long. thats what KTM is doing. pumping power is not enough. you need long time reliability and engine lasting also. see japanesse brands. they gives us both.

I've ridden it rough and hard most times with proper service at local mechanic. I am selling it when the new RC390 comes out. I think it will be more refined than 2017 models.

Ive bought a RC 390 2016 Bs3 model last year around may, which had clocked in and around 12000 kms and has ran another 4k and till date, had no other problems than just changing the spark plug, oil filter, and the front forks. But now its giving a engine break sound when its in idle or riding mode. If you hear closely you notice that sound. But theres no white smoke from the exhaust the oil had been changed recently. What might be the problem in this can I please get a reply back? And oh yeah, it is also installed with the x2 Kit. Might that cause any problems?
Another 35k kms No engine related issues but I haven't used the bike in over a year. There's some problem related to the starter motor that hasn't been figured out yet.
@@surya.exploring One of the main reasons why the older 390 engines fail pre maturely is due the heat. The engine runs lean from the factory, especially at under 4000 RPM. I added FuelX lite module to my 390 and it is running cooler. The bike is also smoothly rideable under 4000 RPM.

Yes bro engine can be damaged the poor engine life can be attributable to poor quality engine internals ..and more over there low quality diasil cylinder kit .. the yamaha r15 is the bench mark quality in nicasil /diasil cylinder kits which is imported from Malaysia containing 30%excess of silica hence very strong .. . More over ktm is not a brand known for reliability ..so cant able to vouch on reliability front .. im using liqui moly moso2 shooter for enhanced anti friction properties to avoid premature engine wear ...

No Nishant, The Adv 390 is a very good bike. Mine is first gen duke 390, and I'm sure if you service the bike at proper interval, the engine will give you the best performance and longevity. And if, after certain kms, your bike needs engine repair work, then it shouldn't cost more than 30k. This makes it the best value for money bike IMHO.

Bro engine acchi jagah se banwaya isliye koi problem nahi aai. Infact svc wale log bhi bole k engine ka kaam accha hua hai. Agle 30-40k kms tak koi problem nahi aayegi. Mene engine rebuild k baad 30k kms chalaye hain aur uske baad ek minor issue aaya tha engine head k gasket ko le k. Is par mai ek alag video bnaunga kuch 4-5 dino me. Mera experience to bohot accha raha hai. Rebuild k baad mai bike ko Spiti aur Ladakh bina kisi problem k le k ja chuka hu.
Hard to believe KTM gives only 35000 km engine warranty and where as bajaj gives 75000 km warranty, KTM is 1.5 times costly than other bikes. It is first bike I have seen that needs to replace engine within 45k km running. Price of bike 1.5 time of other bikes and 35k after some months for engine failure
High compression engines do wear out quiet easily. I own a 2015 RC390, Recently crossed 33,000 KM, engine is still running strong but I expect a rebuild between 40K and 50K. I'm still satisfied that till now nothing major has failed, it only required a periodic service every 6K KM.
Using D200 for 7years (2015 February) 68,000 km done.. no engine issues .. the only issue I'm facing is Wiring Kit .. wires worn out and the replacing cost is 6k 😅

I'm not saying all dukes will have issues, but you'll have to invest more money in repairs, and wear-tear compared to a low mileage bike. If you're okay with this then go ahead with the purchase. Showroom par check karao ek bar. Agar smoke ka color light blue hai to engine oil burn ho raha hai. Aur agar smoke ka color grey ya black hai to petrol burn nahi ho raha sahi se.

@@HarshYog I agree high compression ratio of the engine is the main issue. But brother the performance you get from the KTMs is quiet different. It's not about racing everyday, but the usefulness of the bike. It's quiet fun as an everyday commute as long as you stay away from heavy traffic. It's comparatively more reliable. And i would anytime prefer long distance touring on a KTM than any other bike in that category. It also comes to personal choices. Jo KTM le rahe hain unko 4-5 saal baad engine maintenance pe kharcha karna me koi problem nahi hogi given the value for money they get from the bike.
Meri bike ka toh 28500 km mai hi engine kharab ho gaya , meri saari service proper time to time hui thi sabhi filter change hue the her service pe , sat taq koi stunt bhi nahi kiya , single hand used...ktm have no life very bad quality ...
I have been using RC 390 as local commuter since 2016. I have covered around 27000 km till date I had to change the sprocket 4 times till now, disc plates twice, bore , piston, connecting rod once, RR unit once, the valves once, im also running my second clutch assembly which is pending to be changed to the third set already. I'm not hitting the red line at all, timely service even during the lock down, yes i did track on small tracks between 2017-2020 , occasional power wheelies. My experience has been pathetic, i also own a triumph and benelli 600 for which i did not suffer much. Funny part is i worked for ktm from 2016-2017 . 😂

How is your RC doing now? How much did it costed for front forks?
Change the clutch plate assembly..6-7k.
I hope you still have this bike. How is it now? How much have your bike run after the engine rebuild?

I'm not saying all dukes will have issues, but you'll have to invest more money in repairs, and wear-tear compared to a low mileage bike. If you're okay with this then go ahead with the purchase. It's your call 👍🏻

Baki bikes me bhi ye problem aati hai. I have a honda twister which has the same issue at 45k kms. Even Yamaha and Suzuki would not be any different.

It will b not last for more than 5 6 years or 50 k Kms. Beacuse high compression ratio of ktm engines. Who want the race everytime ktm is for racers or u can say for chapris
@@HarshYog I agree high compression ratio of the engine is the main issue. But brother the performance you get from the KTMs is quiet different. It's not about racing everyday, but the usefulness of the bike. It's quiet fun as an everyday commute as long as you stay away from heavy traffic. It's comparatively more reliable. And i would anytime prefer long distance touring on a KTM than any other bike in that category. It also comes to personal choices. Jo KTM le rahe hain unko 4-5 saal baad engine maintenance pe kharcha karna me koi problem nahi hogi given the value for money they get from the bike.

I have been using RC 390 as local commuter since 2016. I have covered around 27000 km till date
I had to change the sprocket 4 times till now, disc plates twice, bore , piston, connecting rod once, RR unit once, the valves once, im also running my second clutch assembly which is pending to be changed to the third set already.
I'm not hitting the red line at all, timely service even during the lock down, yes i did track on small tracks between 2017-2020 , occasional power wheelies.
My experience has been pathetic, i also own a triumph and benelli 600 for which i did not suffer much.
Funny part is i worked for ktm from 2016-2017 . 😂
