    I have the same frame and it works really well. I make full use of this, even though I was originally a standing desk naysayer. Only got one for myself as the wife wanted one, and I didn't want to miss out. Definitely don't regret the purchase!

    Thanks to you Stuart I have now bought one of these and fitted our own worktop. My wife loves it - likes the adjustability of it.

    I love my standing desk. Some accessory recommendations: under desk tray for cables and power bricks, power strip clamp mount for having power readily available topside towards the back edge, and a monitor mount (not needed for an iMac of course.)

    Well done. It's a good move. Also - set your alarm to get you moving properly once an hour, even twice - up and down stairs will do but, what's really good, is a few press-ups. I could hardly do 5 proper, deep press-ups last year but now do 10 to 15 every 30 or 60 minutes most days. Nothing to do with muscle building - it makes my shoulders and neck both stronger and more flexible and I can now work easily overhead for the first time in my life despite running, swimming, and cycling a lot for decades. You can get component electrical parts to make you own desk but probably cheaper to buy (eg Ikea or the one you have) and modify

    I built a standing desk about 5 years ago out of 1 sheet of MDF (£20 at the time) just to see how I got on with it. 5 Years later I'm still using it! Absolute bargain.

      Maybe you should have got yourself sponsored too, and might have got it for free! 🤣. Joking aside, have you got plans for that? One sheet MDF standing table is impressive without sagging

    I have a Flexispot one that I bought from Amazon. Although different it is very similar in a lot of ways. Also a very strong construction with the holes meeting up and a good set of instructions. I can't get over how much desk they managed to fit in a reasonably sized box.
    I am planning on changing the top over to a live edged slab in time, similar to Tim from the Restoration Couple, but there are a lot of higher priorities on the 'to do' list as always.
    Great content as always.

      @E55elte Рік тому +1

      I have a Flexispot as well - deliberated a long time before splashing the cash but so pleased I did. I also had to stray from the instruction as I couldn't build it in my small space. I put it together upside down as per the book, then partially dismantled and re-assembled the right way up.
      Stuart, you'll need something to stop your wheely chair ripping the carpet to pieces. I've just made mine out of carpet tiles stuck to hardboard (old wardrobe back)

    Good video. I have an IKEA one and I mounted a power strip to the bottom of the desk. This way there's one cable for the power strip to manage down the leg, like you have done with the desk's power cable, and everything else including the desk can be plugged into the power strip and cable managed neatly: this means no Mac wire hanging down or potentially being too short etc!

    Great little video although it is more of an advertising feature than the usual great tutorials.
    I love my standing desk I have had for nearly 3 years now. The product in the video even with Black Friday discount seems expensive. I bought a Flexispot 3 stage frame and ordered a solid oak kitchen worktop that was bespoke cut to fit my room exactly. The 2000 x 960 x 40mm solid oak worktop and Flexispot came out cheaper than the Maidside desk at full price and I got to keep the offcuts as chopping boards.

      @Cheradanine Рік тому

      Try pricing oak worktops now though! I built a desk a couple of years ago from a Wickes 28mm stave oak worktop. A 3m length was £125 delivered (December 2019). Today, the exact same worktop is £250 :-0

    I have a sit stand desk. The biggest benefit is the right sit hight, not the standard hight every office desk comes at.
    Glue a multi socket to the underside, then plug everything into there. Just one cable going up and down. The rest is tucked away and stays that way.

    There’s more to say about drilling your tabletop yourself: don’t screw directly into the wood, make thicker holes and glue nut-like metallic hooks inside the holes. It will be much more solid, and it will be easier to disassemble if you need to move it into another room.

    Well, thanks. I want one now...
    The correct height, probably, would be for you to replicate the optimal body position if you were sitting down. There is VDU risk assessment guidance published somewhere on the Internet, but I seem to recall that your arms should be parallel to the desk for typing with your elbows at right angles. Your line of sight should also be level with the top of the monitor... to avoid looking down and getting neck strain... but you may need a riser block on the monitor for that.
    That could be a starting point for height...

    Personally it would be nice if you were more transparent about if you were paid for this video, as it allows the viewer to understand the influence of the manufacturer over your content. CharlieDiyte does this very well
    Its clear he's said that the item was given to him for free, but it is not clear whether he is being paid for his feedback, which changes a "review" into an "advert"

    • @enriquegarciacota3914

      @@ryk3899 Don't people have to declare it as a "paid promotion" if the item was given for free or the channel was paid by the supplier / manufacture to review it or receives orders off the back of a video using a discount code as part of UA-cams T & C's ? Stuart states the manufactures were kind enough to send one to him, implying that he got it for free. He doesn't state that he purchased it, so in @jegford's defence I can see where the confusion lay as the video isn't labelled as such.
