    Finally committed to my full desk makeover and setup.
    I kept a low budget in mind, mainly using items from IKEA & Amazon.
    Some pieces were custom made to give a personal touch and others were on hand from years prior.
    If you’re looking to redo your desk setup, this video will hopefully be your go-to guide.
    Stick to the end for a cool montage.

      I agree with you, I used to spend time in front of the computer 10-14 hours a day almost every day for almost 2 months. My back muscles are inflamed because I use a wooden chair and nothing supports my back. The inflammation was so severe that I could not sit down when I have meals. I told myself that I would never do that again and I won't go on a budget on chair because it was a very painful time.

    The reason that they make the edge banding larger than the width of the board is so that you can cut it down for a more professional finish... at least that's why I think they do it. Also, if you notice there is a slight chamfer on the edge of the board. You will need a router and a small chamfer bit (looks like 1/4") to get the same edging all the way around the board.

    Monitor is best placed directly away from the window. You can look that up in articles.
    1. The heat can affect the electronics of the monitor and its longevity.
    2. Your eyes to adjust to the light from window and the monitor.

My room is a decent size but just enough room to have a foldable desk and chair to alllow myself to create content so im starting off very cheap like under £100 for the desk set up but its a start so seeing this is inspiring me to start off small and get more creative allong the way. I like this setup, it's clean and simple, although I'd personally spend more on a chair and get a bigger monitor. I do development and design and rarely game so I find that you can increase the size of the monitor if you are willing to sacrifice the refresh rate. If you don't game, you'd be hard pressed to need more than 60hz really, unless you have really specific needs. For me personally, size and color accuracy matter way more.

    My desk setup is very similar. Same desk top and legs. I use 2 drawer units. 1 with the file cabinet at the bottom and the other without. I use a very large desk pad. It doubles as a coaster so I can put a drink anywhere lol. I love how you don't have RGB lighting everywhere. I have some lights behind my monitor to help with eye strain at night but that's it.

      Sounds like a sweet setup! The lights for eye strain are key👌

    Bro! For a budget friendly and simple upgrade like this, it beats the over-the-top expensive ones you find on UA-cam! I love it, and you should be really proud of yourself. I'm overdue for a desk makeover, and I really can't wait to start jumping into the process like you've done. I seriously need to get rid of this Macbook Air Intel-bsaed 2019 junk and upgrade to either an M1 or M2 Pro. We'll get to it soon enough. Otherwise, love the content and thanks for sharing the desk remake! Not bad for a first video!

    It’s probably important to note that the Ekbacken is made with particle board and the Karlby is not, which is why the price difference is so great

    • @nickdesgn
      @nickdesgn  2 місяці тому

      Good point! The karlby is actually similar to particle board though believe it or not, it's not solid wood. The top is a veneer and the inside is chips/particle.

    Initially it looks like a parody on all those multi-$k setups but actually, it is quite cool
