How much backing can it hold?
It would be nice if penn would make improvements on their older reels that they discontinued, instead of coming out with new products that aren't as good, or lack quality construction. Please bring back the international round baitcasting reels, and the international fly reels.

I LOVE my old International fly reels and was a dealer when they were available. They were easily as good as the competition but at a better price.
That said, there is no way I could sell them now. Technology has brought larger arbors and frame geometry that gives us both lighter and stronger fly reels. Retrieval rates are much improved and so is capacity.
I have all of the iconic black and gold reels. Fin Nor, Fenwick World Class, Bily Pate and Penn...none would make it in retail today.
I also have all of the Levelmatics and a 975cs. Really awesome to be sure but the market is saturated with other brands. I wish the round reels would return too but Penn has done an AMAZING job with the Fathom and Torque.
I am anxious to try the new combo.
I used to keep 8 and10wt. Ugly Sticks in my boat for clients.
They cast just well enough and clients could not break them.
They don't exist anymore...I suspect Penn has filled the void.
Now to find one to try...
When does this release?
I reel in with my right hand. Am I able to switch this around for right hand retrieval?
Yes, the Battle Fly Combo can be configured in either right or left hand retrieve configurations.
Can the reel be dunked under saltwater?
Yes.
