@Toast Killer I don't love fishing for bluegill I'd rather fish for stripers or spotted bass but bluegill are a taste sensation so I occasionally target them

The climbing perch is also a serial escape artist, my brother had a couple over the as he had a hobby of keeping fish in an aquarium. Me, one of my other siblings or my parents would often find these things on the ground flopping about.
There's a reason another name for them is "Bucketmouth." The variety of different species I've found in the stomachs of bass is kinda surprising, like mice, ducklings, baby turtles, and even a whole coral snake in one of them.
Surprisingly here in Borneo(Part of Malaysia), we actually have Climbing Perch as Aquarium pet, belief in the fish can offer our home some protection from be witched. So it being regard as somewhat value in the Pet market.
In Indonesian borneo parts climbing perch is delicacy the locals called it ikan papuyu. I live in the island of Java, Indoensian capital Jakarta in here climbing perch is not popular but when I visit South kalimantan almost reastaurant serve ikan papuyu 😆
Awesome videos! I recommend the goldfish, which is in the same Genus as the common carp that you covered earlier, and is commonly released from the pet trade. Goldfish are so abused in the pet trade, and then so invasive when they're released, it's sad.
We got some pacu in Thailand and it makes me caught migraine when I see the baby pacu labeled as “Lucky Silver fish.” on release at the temple whose located near the river. If that temple’s area got pacu, you are guaranteed that there will be no smaller native fish and the fruits there that drop the food into the water is eaten out. Climbing perch is native here and we eat them too. Out of the list, I want to eat the climbing perch and pacu fries and grilled, Largemouth bass steak, Catfish nuggets and catfish sautéed in Thai spicy sauce, and pink salmon sashimi.
This reminds me of an idea I had to start a chain of restaurants that serve invasive species exclusively. Both as a means of bringing knowledge of them to light & reduce their numbers.
So this is not a fish, but it is a massive invasive species here in the Netherlands. I am talking about the red American crayfish as we call it (Procambarus clarkii, Latin name). There is almost nothing here that predates on them and they are really destructive, European crayfish are an extremely rare sight because of them. I am literally able to find them in my backyard in large numbers and from what I have found on the internet there are other countries where this crayfish causes a lot of trouble as well
Oh yeah it's a massive problem in the UK too, I might include it in the next one as they have taken over my local river. The crayfish in the intro of my videos is an American Signal Crayfish I caught nearby
Love your videos! Cheers from Germany! I had a lot of fun catching sunfish the other day. Someone must have put some in a pond nearby. Now I keep a few of them in my outside tank.
I've heard that the most classic aquarium fish is a very invasive species as well when released into the wild. The humble goldfish. Apparently they get pretty large when there's no restrictions to food and space as well.
chain pickerel are invasive in nova Scotia and most likely other areas in the world they wiped out all the trout and a signification amount of bass in m favourite fishing spot
Just a note: European catfish are unable to efficiently predate Channel catfish. Its rather the opposite case, as S. glanis often dies from channel catfish stuck in their mouth. We are also seeing declines in the populations of European catfish following the introduction of Channel catfish in many areas in Southern Europe.
0:40 The largemouth, smallmouth, spotted and other centrarchid bass are not the same family as the striped, yellow, and white bass which are more closely related to groupers.
As a angler from south Florida the largemouth bass put one of the best fights ever along with any other bass like the peacock bass. And the bullseye snakehead.
Channel catfish pop up randomly in southern us ponds and creeks, birds eat the catfish eggs fail to digest them and poop them out in a new body of water, flooding and winds sends the eggs and baby catfish everywhere.
I lived in Blue Island Illinois and had to move so I released my pacu in a nearby river and he survived for 2 years of winter's there until someone caught him and reported it to the local newspaper. I was shocked, but nevertheless it seems as though it can successfully live in cold 🥶 waters 💧
Someone caught a pink salmon in my local river (southern Sweden) a couple of weeks ago. Really bad sign since they can threaten the wild atlantic salmon
Sometimes I kinda want to see a sort of “invasive species battle royale” where we shuffle around species across the entire globe equally and see which animals come on top
If that wouldn’t destroy the entire worlds ecosystems, than that would be very cool and fascinating to watch. Some species would go extinct from their native range but would still be in their non native range
I always told my friends that if I ever decided to be an evil/mad scientist, I would start by implementing a worldwide animal battle royal by doing exactly that. Just put a little bit of everything everywhere.
We have red belly pacu here in southern Vietnam. Quite popular as a food fish, imported from South America in the 2000s. Taste like carp but less mucky =))) since their diet is similar to giant gourami, i'm wondering if the 2 species are competing.
Invasive specie In Romania there is an invasive type of Catfish that looks like a bullhead cat, green, small and they can also live on land for some period of time. We call it “somotei”. Facepalm. "Somotei" is the wels catfish under a meter. Your refering to the african catfish wich actually dies in the Winter. The invazive catfish in Romania is the bullhead catfish.
During the summer salmon fishing season in Newfoundland and Labrador this year there has been 3 pink salmon caught, the fisheries and oceans department think they are from the Russia. Hopefully they don’t move into our systems where our wild Atlantic salmon would have to compete for food and spawning grounds even harder than they already do
Hello. At least here in Brazil, the pacu sold as aquarium fish is only, or mainly the silver pacu, Metynnis argenteus, which does not reach 15 cm and is also native here. Its natural dispersal appears wider than that of larger species. It's more invasive, too. Fishermen call it "CD" and doesn't appreciate it. Gregarious and greedy plant eater, best for big aquariums without plants, in groups of five, at least. Grateful for more this video!
We have largemouth, small mouth, and peacock bass in Hawaii. Good fishing but they threaten our native freshwater gobies known as O'opu. Super interesting little fish that can climb 1000 foot waterfalls with a suction cup on their chest
you should specify the difference between asian or silver carp to common carp in the USA because a lot of people think Buffalo and Common carp are invasive
I only know the German Name "zwergwels" basicly a very small catfish species from northern America. While only 15cm long they are known to feed on the eggs of native fish in Europe and therefore reduce their numbers
Largemouths and channel cats are invasive in a lot of the US,also. In the NW we have them everywhere, and not native. But there is a bounty on Northern Pike Minnow, though those are native, and there are actually limits on the bass and catfish.
Climbing perch has become a native pest in my area at the fields their numbers are riseing year by year now lots of people started to come to catch them i have videos in my channel catching them

I’ve caught large mouth before, good eating, just gotta watch if they have worms
