Yeah, I struggled with this panic thing. Once I sorted that out by having the vision to watch the play and the skill to make the right play. Like, it transformed my game.
My 9 year old niece joined hockey this year for the first time and I feel like your knowledge will help me train her since her team is making her sit out games until she can skate with her head up so sad I know
I swear 😂 I am more relaxed going across the middle cross-traffic, ready to catch a 125 mph rolling puck on my back-hand vs a wrap around on the boards😅
Sounds like the way you get experienced when being a driver. Constantly monitor the road so that IF something happens, your available moves are already in the back of your head and you move unconsciously.
If I see you with you head down I’m playing the body, if your head is up, your looking around, I have to think about what play you are going to make…seconds may be the difference, but that’s all it takes!
Coach, I’m starting my hockey journey at 28 aiming to join a beer league next fall. I’m skating well so far but I look very stiff. Any tips on looking and feeling more natural?
That is you trying to skate with all your muscles, you need to know which ones to turn off. Work on one foot glides, one foot edge drills, forwards and backwards and lots of edge work with weight shifts. The stiffness comes when your body is not aligned so extra muscles need to be used to keep you in control. With great balance comes more power and smoothness. In hockey you are constantly re-aligning your joints and shifting your weight, so pay focus on your weight shifts, edges and balance and you should improve quickly

That's what I'm talking about!
Love these “when you have no skill” videos. Makes it easier for me to execute! Lmao
That's what makes guys like Patrick Kane so good. Their ability to read and analyze a situation and make the right moves.
so true, its very rare you're going to get boarded from behind
reverse hit all day long
This is taking my hockey to the next level. Thanks!
ahaha when I look around I have the feeling I'm surrounded by opponents and my partners are tiny creatures in the distance!
I'll apply these to NHL25. Thank you sir
Thanks coach chip as a center my wings never look around the ice

Great advice!
Thank you for teaching me
Without knowing it you did a perfect impression of my playing hockey 😂
S19 mitts are pure class
Thanks for the tip, can you make one on how to not be afraid of going in to board battles, kinda my weak side 😂
Gotta be bad to be good. Slow is smooth, smooth is accurate, accurate is fast.
Watch a player like Kopitar. Smooth as ice
This is actually good advice for many team sports 💪
Thanks for the tip this will be a good move on d
This is why they say keep your head up. Not just for hits but to read the Ice
Thanks for the tip, We have champs later so this will help a bunch

Been telling this to my youth hockey teams for years, no look, get rid of it, not my problem anymore.
"Reading the ice" takes quite a bit of hockey skill...

In the military it's referred to as situational awareness. Hockey is like chess on ice
Hey can you make a video on how to always win your 1v1s cuz I struggle on that alot thx❤
