The “Turn Pivot / or Turn Pivot” gets its name from the fact that, while staying forwards, your toes turn and face backwards, before you switch your skates (pivot) to begin your backward crossover. The advantage of the “Turn Pivot,” is that you are not committing to the crossover right away, so you are maintaining strong body positioning. Also, the turn portion helps maintain your speed and so you can carry it backwards when you pivot. The disadvantage of the “Toes Pivot,” is that it is not as quick and explosive as the “Immediate Pivot,” as you have to wait for the turn to be completed before switching your skates for the crossover. “Turn Pivots” are very commonly used when angling players, and finding your defensive positioning (lane and gap), before deciding when to switch to backwards to defend against the attacking player.

One the only videos on this, my son couldn't figure out why he'd learn it, but can't find the p3 version

Confusing drill but let me say as guy who coached many yrs at many levels including AAA you are a very good skater shooter as seen in another video, just mention to your audience to lower their shooting hand some as many do not nowadays yet you clearly did allowing you a harder n more precise shot which u showed. U are very good teacher

It's not confusing. The foundation of hockey is skating. Better skaters create more opportunities to get shots off. How many of your players went past AAA?

@@deltabravo1811 just under 10 went past AAA if we count NHL, AHL, OHL and college. I completely agree with you skating is PRIMARY and it was my strong focus at every practice to work different drills that helped develop the use of skating edges so the players would have more tools for their entire game just like you stress with that drill that promotes great edge proficiency. i was just commenting that drill is confusing for most top level players of most ages n not easy to executed the way you envisioned. sure if age n Level appropriate and players can execute it then fantastic but if it's not being done the way u intended then the gain is not being achieved n it becomes a mess if players are doing different n fumbling. as example Last team I had at AAA was Pee Wee Majors n that wouldn't have worked. But please don't take offense as I meant my original comment to laud you as you deserve for being such a good teacher n player yourself and it was never my intention to slight you, if i did I apologize.

You should mention that you need to lift your heels when you make the pivot otherwise you'll land on your head.

Not much information here: I see you are good at it but you don't explain the move step by step, fail to point out what to watch for and mistakes that can be done.
    A slow-motion would also help!

What’s with the stupid background music shout out of MCBT? Great video and trainer but, very irritating background music and childish screams in them.
