Woohooooo...the big Northern Thailand roadtrip has started. Thanks a bunch for bringing us along....hahaha...the first adventure is the " Erotic Garden" with all those erotic structures around 😂😂😂
Amazing drone shots. Wonderful that you have a drone now, bet your coming vlogs will be super super cool. The journey to Pai is full of green and one part of the road looks dangerous with so many curves. Love that village vibes. It looks similar to a Malaysian kampung.
Nice accomodation...it looks clean and cozy and there's even a swimming pool...👍👍
Thanks again for showing n sharing with us Day 1 of the roadtrip.
Stay safe, always ride carefully as it's the raining season. Take your time, don't rush and take good care, Ken.

Ken, I've lived several years in Northern Thailand , mostly in Pai and Chiang Mai. I can definitely say that the rainy season is the most beautiful season for the North. Everything is so green while the air is fresh cool and clean. I've driven countless trips on those windy mountainous stretches between towns and places on that entire famous loop and enjoyed every minute of it. Just take it easy and use the warning horn signal on every approach to a tight curve with limited visibility. Savor the cool ,refreshing ,sweet monsoon rains. It is the season of heavenly blessings that nourishes the mountains of the North.....I miss Pai.

Ka-num for snacks; a-han is food and he pointed you at the dry noodles since you asked for food :) Rainy season is my favorite season in Thailand; as you say everything is green and blooms, lots of fruits, and some of the thunderstorms are quite exciting.

Very unusual park you found there. Looked like just a small rain shower :D, I am sure you have seen much heavier rain on your travels. The drone is an interesting addition and adds a whole new perspective to your video's. Great if you can find a jungle/Rainforest swimming area, I like to be away from it in the rainforests when we visit Sarawak. The sounds are amazing. Great start to the trip.

Sawasdee Ken! The wood in the bottle is the local whiskey - they are dried local herbs something like ginseng in Korea then you add the local whiskey into it. I love road trip so want to see more roadside views / quiet local attractions or village lives as I am locked down in BKK 😭 I miss travel so much.

Off to a fun start. Taking the back roads and having plenty of time is really the key for sure. Of course it is going to rain, nice to get it out of the way right off the bat LOL. Only one thing keeps making me nervous..... you don't have gloves. Seriously if you fall off, the first thing you do is put your hands out, you NEED protection.

You should enjoy the experience. There are many lovely places to visit.I also prefer that little backroad route than the main R107 :)

I stayed at B2 in Pai a few weeks ago. The 490 Baht price seems a bit high. I paid 300 Baht using the Agoda link from Google maps. You can save some money compared to the walk in price. Also most of the villages, hot springs, parks were shut down a few weeks ago because of COVID. For example, all the restaurants and shops in the Chinese village of Ban Rak Thai were closed. I went from Mae Sariang to Pai and can give you some info on what's open and closed if you are interested. Good luck.

In Amsterdam, there's usually one or two stalls at the markets selling chocolates shaped like that.. 😂 Everyone takes photos, of course.. From what I've read about Pai, it was sort of a backpacker's paradise, with lots of cheap no-frills accomodations. It's probably more touristy these days. Last night I came across your Segamat video.. I was there some years ago, interesting little town. I even cooked a ramly burger with mozzarella for lunch.. 😁

@@KenAbroad Kind of a weird little town, I thought. Hard to find a hotel that wasn't dilapidated. I visited a couple of abandoned quarries (a lot of the stones they used as ballast for Malayan Railways came from there, and they're weird rocks which shouldn't be there). I found some abandoned railway quarters, too, took quite a few photos. When I visited the town was overrun with "Old Town Coffee" clones (with copycat names like "Old Taste Kopitiam").. about a half dozen within three blocks (this was maybe 15 years ago, though.. it was the latest trendy thing back then). The next town over on the rail line was Kluang, with the famous original Kluang Station Kopitiam (prices were half of what you would pay at the restaurants using the same name in KL malls). I didn't come across the "bawah bowling" food court, I will have to look for that if I ever go back.
