      @@stevewilliams1819 you are either a troll, a kid or a moron, Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie were worldwide hits when they first came out in 1998 and 2000, together they sold over 10 million copies worldwide which for that time is a whole hell of a lot, even nowadays it is high up there, it is renowned as having revolutionised 3D platformers and having shown exactly what can be done with 3D in general, without it games nowadays would be significantly worse,

      I'll admit to agreeing with that statement (though it's a terrible thing to say) with respect to Blizzard, but only because WoW's mechanics have changed so much. BK though? A remake is the least they could do for us, with a new game with the old mechanics giving us what we've yearned for for so long.

      I'm... not. "Rare" no longer has the creative geniuses behind the originals, and they lack the passionate love of the series to make up for that. In effect, they're no longer Rare in any way but name. So I say, since they're unwilling and/or incapable of using the IP any more, to just go ahead and sell it to someone who WILL put it to use! Playtonic and Retro are both excellent choices, the former being the phoenix of old Rare still in the process of rising from the ashes of the new Rare, and the latter having effectively filled their Nintendo role since they left!

      God of War and Spiderman where to two biggest hits of the year while Spyro remake was a massive success just like Crash was in 2017, Crash also did very well when it was released multiplatform. Do you know what all those games have in common? They're full complete games released at launch with all the content in, no "updates" to put back in missing features, no microtransactions, no release it now finish it later, no continous monetization, no multiplayer only, no service. THAT is what a real game, that is what people want and it is a hard proven fact. Wrong, people still care about GoW 4 and it is still well remembered as one of the best games of 2018 and big middle finger to the games as service bullcrap that AAA publishers are trying to shove down people's throats. A lot of people DID buy an Xbox 360 for the classic Banjo games or already had an N64 to revisit them, there were also quite a few Xbox Ones sold for Rare Replay because Banjo was there.
      SoT sure as hell wasn't marketed for "a niche market", it was hyped over and over like it would be the big Xbox One game and Rare's big comeback, it came out and was an embarrasing failure considered to be almost as bad as No Man's Sky's relaese.
      Nowadays hardly anyone cares about Sea of Thieves, most of the people who played it through Game Pass' free trial didn't bother to comeback after it expired, and the game went down as a total fail for Xbox and Rare. Banjo on the other hand is still beloved with tons and tons of people wishing it'd be in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (which is unlikely because it's a Microsoft owned IP) and calling it a good candidate for a classic remake that are hard proven to be successful and profitable,

    Rare’s full of trolls. Remember the end of N&B? They literally said that they wouldn’t get another game. I know that remasters are still a few years off. Banjo-Threeie is what is extremely likely. I’m calling an E3 reveal. The Banjo-Threeie trademark, as with Tooie and regular Kazooie was renewed, which doesn’t mean much on its own, until you realize that the Banjo-Threeie site updated for the first time since 2002 with the trademarks. To top it all off, I think that the duo’s in Smash. Rare Spirits were found in the datamine before the game released. They were completely sponged except for the text that kept them there. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a marketing stunt to sponsor Threeie, announced at E3.

      @rezahydra 5 років тому +1

      +The Joe Saying that also proves you don’t remember anything. DK64 made Rare bankrupt due to the Expansion Pack Crash Glitch. They barely got out Tooie. Nintendo didn’t know, and refused to help. They pitched an offer to Microsoft and Sony. Sony was essentially modern day Activision with their deal, so they went to Microsoft. Nintendo was blind, and Microsoft HAS changed in the previous years. Rare has a chance to be revived. That chance is low, but it’s there unlike to 0% you’re giving them. It’s not hopeless, or else Microsoft would have dropped them long ago.

    • @rezahydra

      +The Joe Rare’s always been like that. They never liked remakes/remasters. I’ve read the recent interview with Grant, and yeah, I think it’s sad, but Grant wouldn’t be doing Smash music, and they would have got him for Banjo-Threeie music after that interview, as the website was updated for the first time since 2002 the week after. I am sorry if I came off too hateful or accusatory. I do realize that the title may have insinuated some negative things. We’re all on the same side, just on different pages. Nah, while Banjo Kazooie is a beloved classic, the demand just isnt that high. Banjo Kazooie has a niche following, which would be fine if a complete banjo kazooie collection was released on multiple platforms. However, banjo belongs to microsoft now, which means the game would only be on the xbox one which doesnt have a very big user base. Not to mention, redesigning every aspect of banjo kazooie and tooie with modern video game graphics would take ALOT of time. Not to mention playtesting and making sure that all the collisions work properly. Its asking them to put as much time in money as they would into a brand new triple A title into a remake for a Niche game franchise that would only be on Xbox.
      Waaaaay too much of a risk for any business man to green light. Our only hope would be Rare making banjo threeie, but even then, Im pretty sure that microsoft doesnt have faith in the series. Im just gonna be real, while I love banjo kazooie, the IP hasnt proven very profitable as of lately. In the past 11 years that Banjo Kazooie has been on the XBLA, it hasnt even sold 100k units. Literally no business man would ever greenlight a Banjo Threeie or banjo kazooie remake with such abysmal sales numbers. However, with Banjo being in smash, this may help boost his popularity. But other than Smash reinvigorating the franchise, I dont see a new banjo coming anytime soon.

      My point, Dragoncam, is that merely emulating an old game is so easy that a company doing so indicates nothing about said company's understanding of the game's appeal. Nothing BAD obviously, but nothing good either.
      And while I didn't mention NES Remix... that's quite a bit different than "mere" emulation. The emphasis was on quickfire challenges with some mechanical and aesthetic tweaks at times, as opposed to "here's the old game again, just on another system".
      Come to think of it, there were some significant improvements between the N64 and 360 versions of the original Banjos as well, namely Stop 'N Swop being a thing, Notes in the first one no longer resetting, and Boss Replays in the second game now recording your best times AND actually including the Hag 1 (the N64 version does neither of those).

    • @1Synner
      @1Synner 2 роки тому

      @@anterosauditore5850 Conker's remake flopped because it was censored and didn't get any advertisement, and Banjo: Nuts and Bolts flopped because it not only mocked the genre it came from (platformer) and swapped its core mechanics for a "build a car" style of game, but the gameplay change it went with ended with a game that wasn't even that good in the end.
      As for Sea of Thieves, a lot had to go in for it to make it the success it is today, because three years ago, it most certainly wasn't. First, it was a brand new Rare title, which had been silent since Nuts and Bolts, and fans of that development team just wanted something from them which would get the initial interest going. Second, it was HEAVILY advertised by Microsoft, even after its poor launch with mixed receptions (which changed over time due to it being constantly updated, since it's a live service game). Third, the gameplay concept was actually good (well, after patches and updates that actually GAVE it content). And Finally, it was part of Game Pass, so for a fair number of players, the game is free to play, which definitely padded those numbers a bit.
      I still stand by what I said, though, but I think the only one being ignorant here is you, as you seem to brush off the reason why people are upset as to why properties like Banjo and Conker are swept off to the side for the most part and simply just file it under nostalgia blindness. For the record, I personally never grew up with the N64. I would only ever finally play Banjo 1 and 2 when I picked up a 360, and that was only after I heard more and more people talk about those games as the online community grew and grew. I hold no nostalgia for Rare or any of its IPs, but I can certainly understand why people still want that long awaited Banjo Threeie or Conker 2, or even a ACTUALLY GOOD NEW BATTLETOADS GAME.
      Regardless, at least Sea of Thieves got better over time, and the release of Rare Replay drummed up new fans and new support for older titles and IPs. Maybe there's hope for said older titles to make a resurgence.

Yet, in the 11 years that the game has been available on xbox 360 and xbox one, it hasnt even gotten close to selling 100k. There is no way in hell microsoft would sink the money into remaking the game with modern High Quality graphics. Just not worth the risk.

    I think his comments on "we should only do it if there is a new cool idea" are pretty valid here, but his attitude implies there are none. IMO that is just utterly ridiculous. Want to remaster Banjo? Then add a story twist, the banjo we know and love accidentally gets transported into an alternate dimension with a higher polygon count and other twists. An extra part of Banjo's journey is literally getting his polygons up to par with the HD realm so NPC's stop treating him like an asshole. "Banjo did you wake up on the wrong side of the multiverse?" Says HD Mole. See what I'm getting at here?
    There you go, there's a game that can have all the same levels and more, but with a slight twist to change things up.

I was born in 1991 and a lot of the games that were stated, Crash, Spyro, etc, are all favorites of mine and I love seeing them get the attention that they deserve. But there are more people out there, like myself, who wish for that nostalgia trip and know that some games are just timeless. 3. The fact that Rareware is actually treating the Banjo-Kazooie franchise this way and say that Sea of Thieves is superior, is like nails on a fucking chalkboard. I have my full faith that some other company other than Microsoft at this point, would treat the game so much better. In fact, GIVE IT BACK TO NINTENDO. LOOK AT BREATH OF THE WILD, SUPER SMASH BROTHERS ULTIMATE, MARIO KART FFS! They treat their games very well and make sure everything is polished so far from what the Switch has given us! Kind of successful... Wank off with that shit. I'd have the hardest lob on just waiting in line for my copy of a remastered B-K and B-T. Sigh... Oh Rare...

    I gotta go to Rare’s defense here.
    That interview was actually done by DK Vine, a fansite dedicated to many of Rare’s franchises - the founders of the site actually got to go to Rare HQ last year and are very close with several Rare staff, including Craig Duncan.
    I don’t think it’s the fact they don’t want to touch Banjo because of tone-deafness, rather because they just like doing what they want to at the time. DKC 3 was done by a different internal team to the ones who did DKC 1 and 2, because they wanted to move on to other projects (Banjo). Conker didn’t get a sequel because that team wished to do something else, and that same team moved on from Killer Instinct 1 and 2 years earlier. Rare’s got a ton of franchises under its belt, but notice how next to none of them go past a second game.
    I’d love to see another Banjo game, but if Rare doesn’t want to do it, I wouldn’t want them to if they don’t have a passion to - Nuts and Bolts actually started off as a straight up remake of BK1, but they wanted to do something new as opposed to just making the same game again, and I really can’t blame a development team for wanting to do something different than to what came before. I can imagine myself being burned out from doing the same thing and wanting to branch out, but nobody will enjoy it because it’s not what they’re used to/what they wanted.
    In terms of Sea of Thieves, the game has its flaws, but the charm, wit, and identity it has is something that Rare can only pull off, and I’ve only played it a handful of times but it really does have an identity with its artstyle, music, etc.
    With a name like Banjo (coupled with the fact many key members of that team are still with Rare) I’m certain we’ll see him again someday, and it’s not like Rare doesn’t acknowledge their past franchises, especially as of late. Whether Rare makes it or not is yet to be seen, but we’ll see them again.

What does someones personal experience with the games have to do with other people not enjoying it? It doesn't make sense to say "wait, x game wasn't bad! Not to mention just plain shitting on everyone who had a valid complaint/pointing out the illegal shit they pulled by going "here's $5 in microtransaction currency, go get those... pants or something that totally arent in 4" I'm a Fallout fan and i've even forgiven 4, while it does butcher the story and boil it down to basically "3 factions nuke the institute, and 1 IS the institute", and how you're given a strict role rather than an ambiguous start like, say, NV or the first two Fallouts. Though 3 also maintains Ambiguity as well luckily. While 4 is a hard "you are a Soldier/Lawyer period and you have a son".
      76 is more like an abomination of a hybrid of Coop, Rust/Ark, MMO, and Fallout but without the story/core of Fallout, or the depth of an MMO's endgame/leveling. Read notes and listen to audiobooks of faceless NPCs until the end of the story, then go farm the dragon for a slightly better 2-shot legendary, then go farm ammo, repeat dragon killing. :V
      Fallout is a game based around stories about Conflict and the iconic phrase "War. War never changes." sums that up perfectly.
      If you take out the story and turn it into a souless survival-lite Rust with a cash shop. Then it's no longer Fallout.
      The type of game and how it's done doesnt matter as long as it's functional, and it has a damn good story/lore to get us interested. If you fail in that core part, it's game over.

      It's because Rare literally doesn't care about making bank with their games. Everything they make is actually a passion project for them. They deliberately wanted to make kinect games. They have to be passionate about the game they're making or else they just won't have the heart to make it, and their passions shift around like they have ADHD. Just look at their legacy, they don't have a single game in all of their IP's that got a third entry, when you consider DKC3 was not made by the team that made the first two, and the Land games were essentially ports. Perfect Dark stopped at 2, Killer Instinct stopped at 2, Banjo Kazooie in its traditional format stopped at 2, Viva Pinata stopped at 2, Jet Force Gemini, Ghoulies, and Blast Corps. stopped at 1. I think it's pretty likely that we will get a Banjo 3, but it will most certainly be made by a different team in the same way Killer Instinct was. Also, keep in mind that there is always a major Rare nostalgia game to kick off each Xbox launch. The Xbox had a Conker remake, the 360 had PD0, and the One had KI. It seems pretty likely that the next Xbox will have a BK revival.

    I think the point being made is that the company’s ethos is to test new ideas and break new ground with different mechanics that they introduce in their games. The reason they don’t want to do a remaster or remake is because it is diametrically opposed to their philosophy or exploring new games. Now, I have enjoyed the remakes of Spyro and Crash myself, and like the idea of it as well for Banjo Kazooie. But, ultimately the company has the right to consider what business decisions they feel have the best chance of being profitable and that matches the mission that they have set out to accomplish. Sure, not all of their games will be massive successes, but at least they try to test new ideas and not tread the same ground too often. Unfortunately, they see remakes and remasters as doing just that.
