And until they aquired spyro they were basically unheard of. Now they've become well known ... things truly do work out in interesting ways.
If you believe Nate the Hate, a Banjo game has been in development since early last year. So I doubt it would be Toys For Bob. My bet would be on playtonic. They seem to want to continue the Rare legacy.

This is coming full circle! In the 2000s, Rare was approached by Activision interested in buying the company, but Microsoft simply had more money to buy Rare. Now this current story sounds to good to be true!
According to the former owners of Rare, in fact, Activision declined the purchase after having more details about the company, and Rare returned to Microsoft and was surprised when Microsoft did not ask for a renegotiation for a lower price.

Rare might be worried that another Banjo game would suffer the same problems as DK 64 if not worse. It's sad but it's true, some of the greatest games exists because of hardware limitations. I can totally see Toys For Bob taking the helm for a new Banjo game. They really knocked it out of the park with Spyro & Crash so I have full faith they can make an amazing Banjo & Kazooie game
3:00 A few things here. That statement has always been Rare's MO, I'd say. If you look at their body of work and their franchises, most teams at Rare make a game, then they might do a sequel/port, and then they move on to something else (Banjo, Conker, Killer Instinct, Battletoads, Viva Pinata) - the one exception is DK, but even then, DKC3 was made by a different team while a good chunk of the original team went on to make Banjo-Kazooie. On that note, a few people from the original Banjo team are in fact, still at Rare, including the game's lead designer Gregg Mayles. Currently, they're a bit busy with Everwild, support on Sea of Thieves, and who knows what else down the road. There have been many a remake/sequel not made by the original team that have outclassed the original for me, so at this point in time, I don't care who makes a new Banjo game. As long as it's being made for the right reasons and by a team who actually wants to do it. It worked for Killer instinct, it worked with Battletoads (even though Rare did help w/development there), so I await for a studio worthy of the task of making Banjo.

Really hoping to see the potential for B&K to come back, but I really feel like we need to reign in expectations early. Lest we end up with another "Spyro 4" situation where we see nothing for years on end resulting in hype dwindling down, leading to frustration, and eventually anger like what we saw after TGA.

Honestly, I don't even think I want a new Banjo-Kazooie. The reason why B-K and B-T were so great for me also had to do with the humour and the loveable characters, which contributed about 1/5 of the charm. I don't think today's generation will tolerate the humour in these games. Also, I'm not sure Toys for Bob can pull it off. They really have no idea how to make a good 3D collecting platformer. I saw that in Crash 4: It's About Time. Furthermore, the humour and characters that the B-K series has does not correspond well with Toys for Bobs politics. I highly doubt they would tolerate characters such s Tooty, Mumbo Jumbo, Game Over-Grunty, Jolly Roger, and especially Humba Wumba.
What kind of humor do you mean? I ask because the writing in Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie was quite a bit different. Kazooie was a lot more innocent and more akin to a typical child cartoon. Tooie was definitely more meanspirited and more like an Adult Swim cartoon or something (though I liked it, their awkwardness around Bottles' wife and kids was great).
@@DrCasey I have to say that how they wrote and designed Crash Bandicoot feels a world apart from the original 90s games. Even in trying to be a direct sequel, nothing really comes off like Naughty Dog made it, and I think that's the concern with Banjo Kazooie. Not to say a unique Toys For Bob take on Banjo Kazooie would be inherently bad, but yeah, they definitely tend to have their own branding on everything, which I'm not sure fans really want after the last game was Nuts And Bolts.

Toys for Bob did a great job with the Spyro Trilogy remake and the Crash 4. They understand the tone and the aesthetics of the game. I would like to see how Toys for Bob handle Banjo Kazooie, and they have been my favorite developer next to Retro Studios. Maybe Beenox should work on Diddy Kong Racing, seeing as how they remade Crash Team Racing.
I like the idea of TFB working on Banjo, but I don't like the idea on them working on Banjo *and* Spyro *AND* Crash. Hopefully Microsoft can assemble other studios who can dedicate individual care each franchise deserves, rather than allowing one studio to shoulder it all
Toys4Bob considering they worked on Crash 4 they have experience in the 3D Platformer Genre but man a remake in the style of CrashNInsane Trilogy would be awesome! I like this idea but I don't know how that would work. You see even though Microsoft just acquired Activision Blizzard the latter company still remains a separate entity from the Xbox Games Studio and, along with Bethesda/ZeniMax, they all formed the main parent company known as Microsoft Gaming. However since Microsoft now owns all the 3 studios (Xbox Game Studio, ZeniMax Media, and Activision Blizzard), I guess anything is possible as long as it's Microsoft's property.
Same I love Banjo Kazooie and Tooie, the GBA Grunty’s Revenge was really good as well. I’d love them to do remasters of Banjo if they get the rights or the approval from Rare to do so

If they remake Tooie I'll be ecstatic, but Banjo fans are too basic and they only think the original is good when it's subpar. Tooie was an absolutely fantastic game, practically a 3D Metroidvania in some respects, with needing certain abilities to accomplish specific tasks in previous areas and twists on previous concepts. It had tons of fun and unique characters, boss fights, and GREAT music. Seriously, Tooie is a waaay better game than people give it credit for. I'd say that's where the series really came into it's own too, with risky ideas like killing off Bottles, making Grunty into a skeleton witch (metal as fuck), different egg types, harder difficulty, bigger minigames... the list goes on, really.
I’d be very happy to see a Banjo-Kazooie remake. I was born just a little bit late for the whole 3D platformer “golden era”, and only got to see the tail-end of it with stuff like Spyro and Crash. I also didn’t own an N64, so I never got to play any of the classic games on the system. And I’d really like to play them now, so any chance of an older title being made more available in the current day is good in my book.
As long as Spyro returns before Banjo does, the fans can rest easy. Honestly a full blown Reimagining of the OG two Banjo games where levels and such are reworked and retooled and even Story Beats are altered as a means to create a new path for everyone's favorite Bear and Bird Duo for a true Banjo Threeie. I honestly think a full blown remake on those first two games would be a bit of a waste since we have a majority of the non Nintendo and Licensed Rare Games on Xbox Live with some showing up on Nintendo platforms, including both N64 entries on their service enhanced and the like, it wouldn't be a good idea unless to take things further and add more content like cut content as well as new stuff, as to create it's own identity as a Banjo Kazooie game.

I would be amazed, if Rare came back, it's like they suddenly vanished. Activision is a dominant game company. They've been up and down and have gotten a lot of backlash, for things they did on certain games. That can change. If they really want to do well, then they need to step it up. But anyway, if this game can make a comeback, with a remaster and possibly a new game, that would be cool.

Rare clearly dont respect Banjo, they arent the same people that made the original. They made fun of the old games in nuts and bolts, they dislike the old games. Give it to someone that respects the ip.
I think your final comment is where the moneys at. If, say a year from now TFB announce BK characters/world into CTR then we know the keys have been passed and T4B are taking over. And I think it’s an excellent idea to soft land audience response. But this would make for an excellent trio with Crash/Spyro/Banjo. You’ve got a trifecta of games. You’ll have enough space between game releases. And if it’s successful, T4B has all this space for company expansion and creating new teams so they can tackle more projects at once. Lots of opportunity!

I really hope this is true. I’ve wanted to play Banjo-Kazooie for many years, and thus have been dying for the bear and bird wombo-combo to make their triumphant return. Based on what they did for Crash and Spyro, I can tell Toys For Bob has all the love in the world for old IPs like Banjo, and give it 1000% to recapture that magic when they do a remake. I have total faith and confidence in Toys For Bob if they decide to make a new Banjo game. So while I’m not holding my breath, I am crossing my fingers and toes while cheering them on. And of course - Guh-huh!
While I agree that Toys For Bob is good with remakes and continuations, I just feel it isn't the same if they were to make a Banjo game and not the original Rare team. And I've been a fan of Banjo for a long time, but I agree that Rare probably shouldn't make this hypothetical game either, because it would practically be the same game with updated graphics and audio (maybe a different story), which would make the game feel more soulless than its predecessors (including Nuts & Bolts, which is saying something). Though one remake I think would be cool would be of the GBA Banjo games (Grunty's Revenge and Banjo Pilot), as they aren't even in Rare Replay (the Rare collection game on Xbox). Regarding what you said at the very end, I honestly hope they don't add more guest characters to Crash Team Rumble because it's a CRASH game, and we haven't gotten a new CRASH character at all (and for those saying Ripper Roo and N. Gin, do note that they were already in the game files before launch, just not publicly accessible until their respective events). We can agree to disagree, I guess, but personally I'm fine with where Banjo stands in gaming (be careful what you wish for).
And to think back in the 2000s, Toys For Bob were developing small-time stuff like the console version of Madagascar. The past decade has just shown they really are capable developers if just given a chance

1. Xbox is the wrong console for platformers. The factor Cuphead, Super Lucky's Tale, and Ori have been brought to other consoles shows the reality of what Xbox's audience is. Sports, racing, and FPS's that caters to western audience. You can shove Gamepass down our throats all you want but Nintendo and Playstation are the place to get platformers. 2. If a new Banjo game is made, Nintendo should be involved or a multiplatform release for a new title. 3. With Microsoft buying all these studios.....lets face it....some will be left in the dust or cut. Toys for Bob I think would be the one of the ones to be cut.

I cant see Tim Schafer wouldnt bother with making Banjo. Thats not their thing. They prefer their independence and making what they want to make. Even Rare wouldnt want to bother making Banjo. At least back then, they wanted to move on and make something else, as they felt they had nothing new to bring to a "Banjo Threewie", hence why we got Nuts and Bolts. But Toys For Bob makes sense. Theyre work for hire, rather than studios like Rare and Double Fine that want to make their own stuff.
Craig Duncan is the worst thing that ever happened to Rare. His ignorant views on Rares classic IPs and his dismissive attitude towards the long term fans is outstanding. Rare will never be able to work on their old IP with him around so it is up to 3rd parties like Toys4Bob or Playtonic if we ever stand a chance of getting another Banjo-Kazooie game.

Well their have been rumours of one saying that there could be in one in the works and that its an active project an insider by the name of Nate Drake said, and I quote It's still an active project, but it didn't get the greenlight until early late last year. there is a lot to do, and development can change a lot (Abandoned ideas, internal reboots, etc.
If they pulled of remasters of the first 2 banjo games similar to how Crash and Spyro got remasters than released a new game in the same style perf called banjo threeie than i think it would be a success.
I know everyone wants ape escape to make a comeback but let’s be real. With today’s day and age, with the amount of animal cruelty displayed in that game, there’s no way that game could make a decent comeback. They’d have to completely change the formula to make okay just to market. It was fun while it was still socially acceptable to make games like that.

I wanted something like this as well. Maybe a Xbox platformer that allows you to use their platforming characters Crash, Spyro, Banjo, Conker, Blinx, and Voodoo VInce. Maybe a co-op that lets you select one and they each have their own strengths and weaknesses and abilities. Never going to happen, but it would be cool.
This is probably the only possible way Banjo and Kazooie gets another game. If Rare doesn’t want to make another one, TFB will.

The original intention for Rare is to create an adventure game called Project Dream on the SNES, but it was moved to the N 64, it wasn't working for some reason. Mostly like because realistic games can be difficult to work on N 64, such as Golden Eye. So Project Dream became Banjo Kazooie.
However now that the N 64 era has ended, Rare no longer needs the Banjo and Kazooie. Why, DK 64. People did not like the backtracking of that game, and while Banjo Tooie's backtracking isn't as bad. Rare might be worried that another Banjo game would suffer the same problems as DK 64 if not worse. It's sad but it's true, some of the greatest games exists because of hardware limitations.
Thankfuly are Banjo like games such as Demon Turf Neon Splash, Hat in Time, and Tinykin.
If its not made by Rare its not what the fans want. Only new fans of Banjo who dont understand the history and importance of Rare think its okay for another studio to make a new Banio game.

This is awesome news, because I only just became a fan of the Banjo-Kazooie series 4 months ago, and all the 5 Games that have been made are awesome.
Really hoping to see the potential for B&K to come back, but I really feel like we need to reign in expectations early. Lest we end up with another "Spyro 4" situation where we see nothing for years on end resulting in hype dwindling down, leading to frustration, and eventually anger like what we saw after TGA.

Honestly, I don't even think I want a new Banjo-Kazooie. The reason why B-K and B-T were so great for me also had to do with the humour and the loveable characters, which contributed about 1/5 of the charm. I don't think today's generation will tolerate the humour in these games. Also, I'm not sure Toys for Bob can pull it off. They really have no idea how to make a good 3D collecting platformer. I saw that in Crash 4: It's About Time. Furthermore, the humour and characters that the B-K series has does not correspond well with Toys for Bobs politics. I highly doubt they would tolerate characters such s Tooty, Mumbo Jumbo, Game Over-Grunty, Jolly Roger, and especially Humba Wumba.
What kind of humor do you mean? I ask because the writing in Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie was quite a bit different. Kazooie was a lot more innocent and more akin to a typical child cartoon. Tooie was definitely more meanspirited and more like an Adult Swim cartoon or something (though I liked it, their awkwardness around Bottles' wife and kids was great).
@@DrCasey I have to say that how they wrote and designed Crash Bandicoot feels a world apart from the original 90s games. Even in trying to be a direct sequel, nothing really comes off like Naughty Dog made it, and I think that's the concern with Banjo Kazooie. Not to say a unique Toys For Bob take on Banjo Kazooie would be inherently bad, but yeah, they definitely tend to have their own branding on everything, which I'm not sure fans really want after the last game was Nuts And Bolts.

Toys for Bob did a great job with the Spyro Trilogy remake and the Crash 4. They understand the tone and the aesthetics of the game. I would like to see how Toys for Bob handle Banjo Kazooie, and they have been my favorite developer next to Retro Studios. Maybe Beenox should work on Diddy Kong Racing, seeing as how they remade Crash Team Racing.

I like this idea but I don't know how that would work. You see even though Microsoft just acquired Activision Blizzard the latter company still remains a separate entity from the Xbox Games Studio and, along with Bethesda/ZeniMax, they all formed the main parent company known as Microsoft Gaming. However since Microsoft now owns all the 3 studios (Xbox Game Studio, ZeniMax Media, and Activision Blizzard), I guess anything is possible as long as it's Microsoft's property.

Apparently Toys for Bob got gutted like the rest of them during the Activision-Blizzard acquisition by Microsoft. Hope they make it (both literally and figuratively, they released some nostalgic bangers)
If they remake Tooie I'll be ecstatic, but Banjo fans are too basic and they only think the original is good when it's subpar. Tooie was an absolutely fantastic game, practically a 3D Metroidvania in some respects, with needing certain abilities to accomplish specific tasks in previous areas and twists on previous concepts. It had tons of fun and unique characters, boss fights, and GREAT music.
Seriously, Tooie is a waaay better game than people give it credit for. I'd say that's where the series really came into it's own too, with risky ideas like killing off Bottles, making Grunty into a skeleton witch (metal as fuck), different egg types, harder difficulty, bigger minigames... the list goes on, really.
My choice would of been Sly Cooper and Spyro. But the rest are good choices.
I’d be very happy to see a Banjo-Kazooie remake. I was born just a little bit late for the whole 3D platformer “golden era”, and only got to see the tail-end of it with stuff like Spyro and Crash. I also didn’t own an N64, so I never got to play any of the classic games on the system. And I’d really like to play them now, so any chance of an older title being made more available in the current day is good in my book.
As long as Spyro returns before Banjo does, the fans can rest easy. Honestly a full blown Reimagining of the OG two Banjo games where levels and such are reworked and retooled and even Story Beats are altered as a means to create a new path for everyone's favorite Bear and Bird Duo for a true Banjo Threeie.
I honestly think a full blown remake on those first two games would be a bit of a waste since we have a majority of the non Nintendo and Licensed Rare Games on Xbox Live with some showing up on Nintendo platforms, including both N64 entries on their service enhanced and the like, it wouldn't be a good idea unless to take things further and add more content like cut content as well as new stuff, as to create it's own identity as a Banjo Kazooie game.
Can I ask a serious question? Why would we want a new bk game? If you wanna crash and Spyro remaster that’s fine, but if the developers say no to a new game then it’s a no!

Activision is a dominant game company. They've been up and down and

Finally, some good news from all of the Microsoft buyouts with game companies.
Rare clearly dont respect Banjo, they arent the same people that made the original. They made fun of the old games in nuts and bolts, they dislike the old games. Give it to someone that respects the ip.
I think your final comment is where the moneys at. If, say a year from now TFB announce BK characters/world into CTR then we know the keys have been passed and T4B are taking over. And I think it’s an excellent idea to soft land audience response.
But this would make for an excellent trio with Crash/Spyro/Banjo. You’ve got a trifecta of games. You’ll have enough space between game releases. And if it’s successful, T4B has all this space for company expansion and creating new teams so they can tackle more projects at once. Lots of opportunity!

I really hope this is true. I’ve wanted to play Banjo-Kazooie for many years, and thus have been dying for the bear and bird wombo-combo to make their triumphant return. Based on what they did for Crash and Spyro, I can tell Toys For Bob has all the love in the world for old IPs like Banjo, and give it 1000% to recapture that magic when they do a remake. I have total faith and confidence in Toys For Bob if they decide to make a new Banjo game. So while I’m not holding my breath, I am crossing my fingers and toes while cheering them on. And of course - Guh-huh!

While I agree that Toys For Bob is good with remakes and continuations, I just feel it isn't the same if they were to make a Banjo game and not the original Rare team.
And I've been a fan of Banjo for a long time, but I agree that Rare probably shouldn't make this hypothetical game either, because it would practically be the same game with updated graphics and audio (maybe a different story), which would make the game feel more soulless than its predecessors (including Nuts & Bolts, which is saying something). Though one remake I think would be cool would be of the GBA Banjo games (Grunty's Revenge and Banjo Pilot), as they aren't even in Rare Replay (the Rare collection game on Xbox).
Regarding what you said at the very end, I honestly hope they don't add more guest characters to Crash Team Rumble because it's a CRASH game, and we haven't gotten a new CRASH character at all (and for those saying Ripper Roo and N. Gin, do note that they were already in the game files before launch, just not publicly accessible until their respective events).
We can agree to disagree, I guess, but personally I'm fine with where Banjo stands in gaming (be careful what you wish for).
And to think back in the 2000s, Toys For Bob were developing small-time stuff like the console version of Madagascar. The past decade has just shown they really are capable developers if just given a chance

1. Xbox is the wrong console for platformers. The factor Cuphead, Super Lucky's Tale, and Ori have been brought to other consoles shows the reality of what Xbox's audience is. Sports, racing, and FPS's that caters to western audience. You can shove Gamepass down our throats all you want but Nintendo and Playstation are the place to get platformers.
2. If a new Banjo game is made, Nintendo should be involved or a multiplatform release for a new title.
3. With Microsoft buying all these studios.....lets face it....some will be left in the dust or cut. Toys for Bob I think would be the one of the ones to be cut.

Craig Duncan is the worst thing that ever happened to Rare. His ignorant views on Rares classic IPs and his dismissive attitude towards the long term fans is outstanding. Rare will never be able to work on their old IP with him around so it is up to 3rd parties like Toys4Bob or Playtonic if we ever stand a chance of getting another Banjo-Kazooie game.

Well their have been rumours of one saying that there could be in one in the works and that its an active project an insider by the name of Nate Drake said, and I quote

I know everyone wants ape escape to make a comeback but let’s be real. With today’s day and age, with the amount of animal cruelty displayed in that game, there’s no way that game could make a decent comeback. They’d have to completely change the formula to make okay just to market. It was fun while it was still socially acceptable to make games like that.

I wanted something like this as well. Maybe a Xbox platformer that allows you to use their platforming characters Crash, Spyro, Banjo, Conker, Blinx, and Voodoo VInce. Maybe a co-op that lets you select one and they each have their own strengths and weaknesses and abilities. Never going to happen, but it would be cool.
Crash 4 is one of my favourite games, so I think they could make a great Banjo game.
