As a junior medical resident, I do 26-hour call shifts where i see patients on the ward during the day and i admit patients to hospital from the emergency department at night. You can never anticipate what it will be like - each day has it's own surprises haha!

Why can’t there be more doctors like you out there. You’re so friendly!
I think her energy is super refreshing. I do wonder how long it'll last, though. A lot of times, people become jaded or just sorta level out as they gain more experience. My surgeon is a chill guy. But he definitely doesn't have that glowing enthusiasm for new adventure that I've noticed from younger people in the field. Just a personal observation.
@@Xentrolis People in general are more jovial and happier when younger lol. Life gets to you especially with Docs and their career.
@@user-mb4ig1bq5p - Oh, I fully agree. I'm 28, but have been working in tech professionally for 8 years now. With experience in both small startups and now at a massive tech company. I'm not a negative person or anything. And I'm excited to tackle new problems. But I'm not smiling every moment of the workday.
She’s from Canada. Of course she’s nice.
Hailey Railey Yeah no kidding huh? She is so friendly even after working a shift that a lot of people probably would not make it through
“Most of them dont come back” damn she said it like someone just went for a walk
Do you ever watch any medical shows knowing that you know what is fact vs fiction?
Oh god it’s annoying
Nothing like seeing House doing CPR on a bed
Two codes in one shift? Brutal. Great vlog though as usual. Do you have a favorite department to work at in the hospital?
John Langenbach was it a code blue and a code red?

My personal would be the ICU.
She likes rheumatology!
Your enthusiasm is contagious 😀
When I grow up, I want to be just like you 😇thanks for your inspirational videos🌟
That’s so rare!!! 1 in 3 inpatient codes are unsuccessful :( I’m glad your patient made it!! Most are so unwell they end up with unshockable rhythms and RIP 😢😢
Do you ever have dreams about your pager going off? I totally have dreams sometimes of the sound of the loud front door to my work opening, meaning there are customers coming in!
Hahah YES a few times! Although the worst is if this happens when you are on call because you don’t know what’s real!!
@@ViolinMD I know right! That happens to me!
@@ViolinMD hi
@@ViolinMD is the best medical channel
I have a number of chronic illnesses so the hospital is practically my second home. It’s really cool to see what it’s like from a doctors perspective!! Please please do a video about what it’s like interacting with all the patients! Is it stressful? Fun? Or do a video of what its like on pediatrics floor!! (If your hospital doesn’t have one, what it’s like working with pediatric patients)!!
This was such an interesting vlog! From the code blue emergencies to your key struggle it’s really interesting to see the behind the scenes of what goes on in the life of a resident! As always I love your positive energy and strength❤️
I love the response re knowing there is no hierarchy . Shes right doctors are not our boss . We don't work for the doctors we work as our patients' advocates. This is a good reminder .Thanks Dr. Siobhan! -random RN from Toronto :)

I love how you keep such a positive attitude. I get so stressed out sometimes at work, and my job is not nearly as intense as yours!! Obviously I'm sure your life isn't always sunshine and roses but it's really encouraging to watch. I'm sure the patients appreciate your smile too
There's a lot of drama going on in my class and I really needed to take my mind off things to keep doing homework, I was looking for some videos here on UA-cam and saw this, as someone who's going to be a doctor, it's really nice to watch these videos. Thank you so much for making them

I recently subscribed because of your upbeat and positive attitude. I enjoyed watching your videos. As a first responder myself, I commend you for your service, dedication, and passion as a public servant. The city residents are fortunate and grateful to have you as their Doctor.
I really admire your dedication and patience doing your vlog and touching people’s life in the hospital.. you are such an angel here on earth Doctor!❤️❤️
If I ever need a hospital visit I sure hope I get a doctor like you!

You’re amazing Siobhan! Your energy and positive attitude is so contagious. I particularly like this type of videos and being able to see what your day in the hospital is like. I loved the debriefing part in the end! Lots of love 😘
Yes girl!!!! I love your videos! I wish I can hear more about the patients but I understand patient confidentiality always comes first. You’re amazing and thank you for what you do :)
Just discovered you and have been binge watching all of your videos for the past two hours lol. So much respect for you girl!! You're so positive and inspiring!
You are a great doctor. I don't care what ppl say...if a doctor isn't nice and has a poor bed side manner he or she is not a good doctor. You have both and you are always smiling. I wish more doctors out there was like you
I love the positive energy you bring! we need more people like you!
Doctors and nurses are amazing. So much respect!
Watching your videos makes me so happy :)

I love your videos so much! So interesting to see what you do everyday behind the scenes. When I get a notification you’ve posted, I usually save the video for the next morning because you inspire me to be more productive and healthy throughout the day😊
You know I love the ER, Im not a doctor or med student, but I think the ER is the coolest and most adrenaline filled department in the hospital, thats my thing. If I were to work in the medical field I would prob wanna be in the ER
You are inspiring! I would love love love love to work along side you as a nurse. you're so respectful of everyone and that is so wonderful. You'll stand out
God bless you always. You are an angel. I could newer handle this type of work. I was so stressed just looking at you running around .
I love your channel! It's so refreshing to see someone so enthusiastic about their job! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

I’ve been binge watching your videos. I discovered your channel this morning I love it!! I’m a nurse but learning so much from your awesome videos.
I just found your channel really randomly and am addicted! I don’t even want to be in the health field (I’m studying to be a teacher) but your energy and personality is so fun to watch!
I absolutely love theses vlogs thank you so much for sharing them for us all. I love how informative they are but yet so entertaining at the same time. Also you are so gorgeous
I love your positivity! Always so exciting to see your videos in my subscriptions
You’re so sweet!! I love watching these videos. I’m premed and I volunteer/shadow in a university hospital. I love seeing what’s in store the future as a doctor 🤪❤️ thank you for posting these!
It’s so cool to see an md’s point of view as an RN. Thanks for your awesome videos!
You inspire me to be harder working and to not complain. You are a light :)
I'm only 13 and because of you I might now want to be a doctor. Thank you for your inspiration. I love your videos!!
what an amazing feeling to save someones life, love your video!!
Loved this video! Your channel is amazing, I look forward to your videos every week!
Can I recommend you setting an alarm on your phone to remind you to turn on your pager? I think it could take some of the anxiousness out of that situation, and make for a more relaxing time off:) Oh my gosh, you work extremely hard! Not only with matters of life and death, but very long hours, and where you are in high demand from all over the hospital! My hat is off to you!!!! Thank you for being there to give comfort to those in need, and assistance in very stressful situations!
Haha actually that’s a really good idea... I should probably try that!

Your videos are so amazing and informative!!! Thank you for the effort of vlogging even though you're incredibly busy on call x
We love you Siobhan you inspire me to be a doctor or some sort in the medical field ❤️❤️😃
Here she is again!!!! Love this so much
Your channel is growing so fast! Love it! You’re awesome
I wonder if I’ll ever have you as my medical staff that’s looking after me at a hospital. You’re so kind unlike some of the people I’ve had. The good people I’ve had are my friends who have left high school and started doing this type of stuff and they hug me
Absolutely love your channel . You are amazing. Thank you for sharing . ❤
I always look forward to Saturday’s every week because of your videos!
Watching this video in 2022 and thinking how we had no idea what masks would come into play or how droplet precautions would be common words known by everyone.
Your personality is the type of dr I always pray for as a young patient with atypical trigeminal neuralgia. Having the right dr (all aspects of a hospital visit, all drs you work with) make all the difference.
I love how when you “knock on wood” you knock on your head 😂
I love listening about the code blues you have. Reminds me of my time when I gave cpr to someone
How come watching these videos makes me feel so happy?
yay i always get so excited when you upload
Seriously loveeee your videos! ❤️❤️ the only vlogs I watch all the way through 😅🤭
I worked in a hospital as a rehabilitation assistant. We would have code blues in the rehab department sometimes or right after knees and hip replacements patients passed out a lot after surgery. Not a fun time. I bet your seeing a lot of the flu 😩. Take care. Love your vlogs.
I just love your videos. Thank you for taking the time...
How do you deal with losing patients since you said most of he time the don’t make it after a code blue is it hard and how do you cope with it and not let it get to you
Great question Courtney - I think that deserves its own video!
You seems so calm and positive, I would be stressed as hell X)
My sister is a nurse and she is on a PIC team. My brother is a pain doctor my dad was an MD and my mom was a nurse. All of them worked for Maine medical center.
Your Smile is very contagious and energetic !!! Thank you for sharing such a beautiful content for us !!! Your videos are highly inspirational !!! Good luck and keep up the awesome work !!!
i am so proud of you for doing this job
Man this day seems especially busy!
I've had a pulmonary embolism before. Caused in part by septicaemia from a uti I didn't know I had as I had no other symptoms than frequent urination. I collapsed at home, heart rate was up near 200bpm bp was sky high and was put on warfrin(i think that's the way it's spelled) to dissolve the PE. Was also put on IV antibiotics and had to spend 5 days in the cardiac ward because the infection was making it hard to stabilize my heart rate and BP.
yay I love when you upload 😊😊😊
I appreciate you Dr.
Lol. That 4:30 am looked like a hard one to wake up for! Lol
Thanks for all you do!! Doctors are true heroes but we idolize entertainers before the medical professionals like you! Love your posts. Stay safe ❤️🙏❤️
You're awesome! lots of love
You seem soo nice you always smile! Kind of a weird question but plan on making merch? Because i would definitly buy it!!!
Thanks rose! Hmm I haven’t thought about that yet but maybe at some point!
@@ViolinMD maybe you can do shirts and sweaters and long sleeves with "VIOLIN MD" in cursive and sweatpants with VIOLIN MD written in cursive or a popsocket with V.MD on it
Hi Siobhan,
I may need to get surgery on my ankle to correct it and I hope at the hospital there are doctors like you. Your so nice and awesome and positive!!! I am freaking out if anyone has any tips please help!!! I’m glad it’s a children’s hospital so hopefully they’re amazing!!
I enjoy so much your videos! Daniel from Texas! Look forward to them
I really recommend a the morning burst face wash from clean and clear. It really wakes you up and makes me feel energetic so if you're ever tired on call you can use the face wash
You had a REALLY busy night!! Wow! I did like the running scenes of the vlog
Really like you and your vlog. I hope kids/high schoolers who want to be Doctors, actually watch your vlog...give them inspiration. Secondly, you must be an overachiever...Dr. Resident/Violinist AND time for you tube. Wow!
Hello Doctor! I'm your Filipino fan, keep safe always-give yourself a time to relax
Hi, I hope you’re patient with the Pulmonary embolism is doing okay. I have a dvt and bilateral PEs and was discharged from hospital this afternoon. I now have to inject thinners twice a day, and I’m having follow up appointments with the haematology team on Tuesday. It’s good to see things from the other side!
Hi Shona - so sorry to hear about the DVT/PE, I’m really glad to you are getting good care!! Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a smooth/swift recovery!
Hey doc, What differences do you see in a Internal Med residency vs. Family Med residency. It'd be great if you can compare and contrast by asking family med residents you may know! thanks!
I just found your account and I love it! I want to be a docter and it's really cool to see what you days, and nights are like thanks you
You're an amazing and beautiful woman. Keep up your awesome work. Thanks for inspiring others and caring for people.
I'm happy to hear you're dictating! Been an acute care medical transcriptionist for 30 years! Unfortunately, my job is slowly going away because of EMR. Did you know some doctors dictate while driving, while eating or chewing gum, while yelling at their kids, in the OR with metal instruments clanging/echoing, at the nurse's station (always a party I swear), at their kid's baseball game, at home with dogs barking/kids screaming, using speaker phone is always a favorite, in the bathroom, etc.? Always fun is the surgeon who rattles off an entire operative note in one breath or the doctor that wants a copy sent to "Dr. Brown" but doesn't say WHICH Dr. Brown. :) Thankfully, most doctors are good and considerate dictators. I love what I do and have so much respect for doctors. I'm so glad I found your channel! Best of luck to you.
Another life saved! Superhero ;) I know enough to know what you're talking about without you having to explain it. :-) Knowledge
tough tough day!! great save on code blue doctor Siobhan -we are so impressed 🎻🤩
what a brave doctor you 🙏🏼 please save more lives w/o yelling or being angry to any health care workers who wants to help.. i wonder if real doctors in the hospitals could still smile like that cause most of them i encounter serious one doing Ceasarian, and some normal delivery they dont like shouting mother-to-be when its midnight trying push out their newborn baby 🙏🏼🙏🏼 But in your video you made me feel that you're a cool one & nice to work with
Wow what a day you had 🤦♀️ you do an amazing job saving peoples lives everyday your amazing ⭐️
Aw thanks Joanne! Truly it’s a team effort, I am by no means doing this alone!!
I love your videos! They are all so interesting
ok thank you! I hope to work at a hospital some day so i’m just trying to get all of the info I can to make sure I rlly want to work hard for this😁
Oh my goodness... I am glad I didn't know that tidbit most codes not making it through. My daughter coded at birth and we didn't know if she made it or not until 3 hours later (she was whisked away to the NICU)
My grandma had a stroke. She needed to stay in the hospatial for 24 days. Don't worry she's out and doing much better 👍❤
Please keep doing the vlogs, i love them.
Do you have any tips for studying and taking the exams? And how do you manage to learn/revise stuff now that you are Working? I imagine that one is pretty tired after shifts in the hospital. Love this video and i am looking forward to the next one
Proud of you
Awesome video !!! Just keep more coming
This is amazing!
I live for these videos ❤️❤️❤️
Does it matter what room you pick to sleep in??
Love the hospital vlogs
Thanks jess - more to come ☺️
Your channel blew up quick, congrats!
Have been binging your videos like crazy for the past couple hours, it’s always so interesting to see stuff like this! I just had a question, when you go into a sleep room if someone had sleep apnea and required a mask to sleep in case they stopped breathing while resting would someone be able to bring their mask with them? I understand about being on call but I’m curious if someone with sleep apnea would be able to bring their mask with them or not
