    In this video, I'll show you how to used the CAGED system to build a "homebase" on the guitar. This means that no matter what key you're playing in, you'll always have a "homebase" to fall back on -- allowing you to easily access all the most important guitar chords in one place. Be sure to check out the follow-up video that digs deeper into the concept of "building a homebase". Thanks for watching :)

    You make the best guitar lessons on UA-cam. It's systematic and concise. I feel like your videos are everything one needs to master the instrument.

      Everyone always teaches based on Am pentatonic, but then they never complete the thought about changing keys. It's crazy that with basically 2 extra sentences, you filled a massive gap 100 other videos miss.

    How did you know to put the G shape with the 1 chord and so on and so forth for each of the 7

    • @andrewclarkeguitar
      @andrewclarkeguitar  6 місяців тому +1

      There are CAGED shapes for every chord all over the fretboard. For example, that means there is a C, A, G, E, and D shaped C major chord. The "master shape" I made here takes the closest CAGED version of each chord from a key and puts them altogether in one tight, connected shape.
      And because of the way the guitar fretboard works, no matter where I move these master shape, I'll always be playing the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 chord of that key. If we shifted the shape up two frets, then that G major shape would now be a D major chord, the 1 chord of the key of D major. Does that clarify things a little bit? If not, let me know and I'll try and do a better job of explaining. Cheers!

      It may be a little fast for some people but I personally pause the video when needed. As a content creator you don't want to have too long videos as many people would just not watch it.

      @@stonocz Here is a tip in case it helps, you can change your "Setting" within the video to play at slower speeds. All the best!
