    Dr. Weaver. What a great show report video. Oz really knows how to put together a great sounding system. Well done.

    Great review of the hotel, interview and what a system! I enjoy listening to United Home Audio’s music collection on Oz’s system, it’s such a pleasure.

      Thanks for the kind words on this episode... As you are well aware, these cats always play some great music. But this room and system just synergized and made some fantastic sounds! Such a great exhibition for them...

    Nice meeting you at the Dallas southwest audio show. I'm the guy that mentioned the Django XL speakers.

    Would you happen to know why Lansche has not developed corona plasma drivers to cover the entire frequency spectrum?
    I too enjoy the Southwest Audio Fest immensely.

    • @theaudioanalyst
      @theaudioanalyst  5 місяців тому +1

      That would be a question for Lansche, but I suspect that it has something to do with the practical limitation of physics and the technology necessary to do so.
      Do you recall the issues Nelson Pass faced when he built a prototype corona wind loudspeaker that he called an Ion Cloud panel? It was an ion/plasma speaker... massless.info/DontBreathe.html

      Amazing looking building.
      Stella had much to contribute to your explanation of Corona Plasma tech and presentation.
      Wonder if She'd appreciate first hand(paw) the upper registers being present from this tech?

      @@marcus1970LOL... Yes, she was so busy barking at delivery drivers, neighbors cleaning up their lawns, and kids playing, riding their bikes, and walking their dogs, that there was very little chance of keeping her quiet...short of locking her downstairs or out in the back 2-acre yard... I opted to let her have her say, the little stinker! 😊 Hopefully, no one will find it TOO distracting!

      Oz’s presentation addresses the safety issue convincingly , and I appreciate your comments on the challenge of seamlessly engineering the drivers in previous designs.

    When are people going to stop expressing efficiency in decibels? Sensitivity in dB and efficiency as a percentage.

    • @theaudioanalyst
      @theaudioanalyst  4 місяці тому

      A speaker's efficiency is the measurement of how effectively it converts an electrical signal into acoustic output. And while that relationship may be expressed as a percentage, as that percentage is typically about two percent or lower (for the more standard dynamic cone type driver), it is not seen as being a particularly useful specification given its resultant limited scale.
      But by the mid-1970s the established standardized method of assessing a loudspeaker's efficiency was to deliver precisely one watt of power to the speaker and to measure the resultant amplitude of the output with a calibrated microphone and decibel level meter placed precisely one meter from the speaker. The resultant output level that results is considered to be a more useful expression of the speaker's efficiency rating, and because it includes the cabinet interactions with the drivers as well, it also offers a clearer expression of the speaker's overall sensitivity given the finished loudspeaker’s choice of mechanical loading.
